^+1 this .. I changed my Player Series bent bridge because the saddles would move and grub screws wind out. Himass fitted removed that problem completely. However they do look ugly and out of proportion sitting on a PBass The arrival of my Vintera which has the vintage bridge with threaded saddles open my eyes to the alternative hence buying the Hosco Japanese bridge with threaded saddles. One bass ( my Silver one ) returned to this bridge and my other Player which also has a HiMass on it is yet to be changed back, next string change probably

Me neither .. a thumpy tone of flats and foam is great for some genres but for me a sustained clear ringing note from roundwounds is my aim ( rock ) Playing with a pick is also helpful with this as is correct EQ at the amp

I’ve found the vintage threaded saddles very stable as you can use the threads to pull the saddle inwards slightly so they are squeezed together. The Player series bridge saddles move side to side and the screws wind undone from vibration !

No worries.. they don’t cost much !! If they are it’s always handy to have spares

Thanks, I’ve ordered some 8mm and 10mm slotted screws for spares etc and losing a bit of the height of screw sticking out. Good call thank you

Post resurrection!!!! I’ve just removed my HiMass bridge on my PBass and fitted the Hosco Vintage bridge with threaded saddles As long as the saddles stay put I’m going to do my other PBass too. Very slight mark in the lacquer where the large HiMass was fitted but I’m hoping in time that will disappear? In terms of tone .. same I guess but I can get action lower and it looks more like the original. Looks like my Vintera bass now too

Strangely I don’t find the neck a lot different to my Player Series PBass in terms of playing. I’m a big guy with reasonably large hands and it feels more right than say a Jazz neck hence why I recently sold off my lovely new Jazz. Wider slightly but less chunky due to radius etc and it just feels right for me. Jury is still out regarding the pickguard

From what I’ve read is that the necks are very stable and truss rod adjustment is rarely needed unless changing string gauge etc Out if the box it was setup perfectly ( very different to how the Player series are set or lack of it ) It does appear to be just that little bit more special and with shops clearing out stock they are closer to Player series pricing compared to a few years ago. I’m really liking mine and the neck and frets and better lower action make it an easier bass to play. Pickup is better as is the tone control .. far more usable treble reduction without the low end becoming woolly. Even the bridge is better albeit basic but the threaded saddles are a huge improvement over the Player Series that suffer from movement and screws working themselves out ! Great bass

I like my bass to be felt and heard and I don’t like standing still at the back. Our singer is always moving around a lot and we often bump into each other but she is a curvy hot chick so no complaints from me lol 😂

My ABM600 is whisper quiet as long as input gain isn’t goosed !!

Just played the Vintera with a pick Wow sounds bloody amazing !

Another point is the action is lower without fret clank / buzzing compared to the Player Series I think the neck radius and fret types seem to make an improved difference in getting a lower action, neck quality too of course

Yep the Seafoam green is a lovely looking bass Strange about the pickup output, mine is around the same signal strength as my Player Series

Just purchased a new Vintera PBass and I’m very impressed with the quality and sound. Nicer than my Player Series PBass and highly recommend. Neck is a delight to play, awesome pickup too, even the vintage bridge is nice and works well I might consider a black pickguard but I’m not sure yet.

Where can I buy the grooved vintage bridge saddles from ? Ideally with screws Looking to change my Hismass bridges back to standard plate type but upgrading the saddles instead of the one slot kind. I have the bridges from the player series but really like the vintage bridge as found on the Vintera so converting would be preferred with buying just the four saddles

In addition the RM cabs are ok but a better 212 cab like the SVT212AV would blow away the RM series played loud. Lovely tone from the SVT212AV and closest to the 810 in a small package I sold all my Ashdown cabs even the more expensive ones as the Ampeg was better in every way apart from the weight ! Worth it for the sound and rated 600w
