1. After using the Thunderbird for the entire gig tonight and loving it I am thinking about getting a set of EMGs for my gold bass and the relevant routing required but I'm not sure that to do. I have three choices: get the body routed for the pickups and a battery box on the rear Sell the body and buy another from Warmoth already routed for the pickup configuration I want sell the whole bass and start again sell the gold bass and get used to the fact that the Thunderbird is my one and only bass The gold bass really looks the part and sounds amazing but isn't the sound that I have grown used to as being 'my' sound. It was a pain to get it back as those of you who followed my thread will know but I'm not really sure what to do. I've been looking at the Warmoth site recently and was thinking about something completely different. The Thunderbird has been withdrawn from sale permanently and has also been removed from Ebay. I just can't bring myself to sell it. Its too good. I'm still getting used to the Warmoth so its not like an old friend that I feel at one with (the Thunderbird is) so I wouldn't be overly upset about selling it so it may very well be up for sale shortly if I decide to go for the completely new bass route.
2. I sold a SuperFoundation 2x15" a couple of years ago. It was in pretty good condition. The thick thread stuff that goes round the top and sides was coming away a wee bit but otherwise it was it was in great condition. It had even been hired out to the Bootleg Beatles as a stage prop for a TV experience. did I mention that it had no drivers? well it didn't. I think it was a slightly later 1973ish model. I sold that empty cab for £360 so the mind boggles at what you could get for yours.
3. The first series of Telecaster basses were out in 1968
4.
It reminds me a little of this: http://www.effectpow...head-1144-p.asp
It is They're made by a company called Beta Aivin who decided to make a few extra after they made the promethean for Ibanez
5. I would say a million and one times better but yes it makes a huge difference. lightweight, fall apart job on stilts v. rock solid beast of a bridge in direct contact with the body. makes a Badass look like paper mache.
6. I have a penchant for all things sparkly so would go with B
7. these polls are as much use as tits on a boar. I've never even heard the Muse song so can't comment but my top 10 is likely to be different to everyone else's
8.
I'm gonna get the neck and body for my Ultimate Bitsa ™ from Warmoth - nothing out there to touch them IMHO, and I'm after some bling wood in the shape of birdseye maple and black korina. I've got a mate in the US who I can get the bits shipped to who will then ship them on to me - I think some Xmas wrapping paper should do the trick... Shame the Warmoth T-Bird body is such an odd shape around the neck pocket, rules a Super-Fenderbird out... My two main basses have got MM necks, and they're as good as anything I've used out of Corona. The P neck is better than the J neck fretwise, so I think there's an element of pot luck involved (but nothing a fret dress hasn't sorted out completely), but neither are anywhere near what you'd expect for the price: they're so much better. It all depends on your budget, but I'd recommend them completely. I've got a real hankering for an all-wenge J-neck on my black P, too. Mmmm.....
+1 As far as choice and finish go, Warmoth is the daddy for parts. Very well put together and finished. Everything just slots into place
9. Now that's exactly what I'm looking for for my 80s tribute band.
10. CH guitars and Twin-cam on Ebay seem to have some decent stuff
11. Not had the chance to gig this yet but decided to get it out to see what it looked like set up Gallien Krueger MB210 combo and MB115 400w cab
12. Its gone to the great gig in the sky minus handles and feet
13.
http://www.fretlord.com/fretoptix.htm
I've heard a lot of bad stories about those being really terrible.
14. That's really, really nice
15. A serious one from me this time. If you have a penchant for going through basses like me or even if not, get yourself down to Wilkinsons or a cheap shop of some kind and pickup yourself up a set of allen keys. I picked up a set of metric and imperial in edinburgh for about £3. That will save you having to ask what one you need as you already have it and it just a matter of a couple of minutes finding the right one.
16.
Leave your glasses on when you're playing?
on a pitch black stage with a black bass? When a band I was playing with did the Scottish Beatles weekend in August, the lights failed at one point during the set so we played in complete darkness. The singer had to use his phone to see the lyrics but I could see perfectly thanks to the LEDs
17. many a mickel makes a muckle
18.
Have you seen the fretfx LEDs? Got no experience of them, only found out about them the other day on a market place post. https://fretfx.com/
I've had two basses fitted with these and am about to order a set for my Precision. Unless you're completely ham fisted they are really easy to fit and do the business.
19. Keep out of the black and in the red, nothing in this game for two in a bed
20. Or buy one ready made I dare say you could buy an ebony one and age it. Might be easier than trying to age a bit plastic Or even get one of the maple ones, paint it black and the relic it

22. I just emailed them with the details and they got back to me with the part number and cost. I just needed to call the number in the email to order the part.
23.
I'm using 50 gauge Rotosound flats and they're 50, 75, 95, 110 so it should be possible but you may have to adjust your bass every time you go from dropped tunings to standard and vise versa
Never quoted myself before but seem to have been ignored here I use 50, 75, 75 110 gauge strings in standard tuning and when I used a 5 string would use a 135 as a B
