1.
In the spirit of the OP... I picked up the bass because I couldn't manage the full six strings in the standard gee-tar. Why would I want to complicate that by adding one more... and me back couldn't handle the extra weight anyway...
Same here, glad I did!!
2. These little doozies are my new tone now I have no valve amp (Di straight to the pa from now on) I have an autowah, microsynth and octave pedals to go with them. From the YouTube reviews, I am looking forward to trying them out!
3. Olivier bought my TE Hexavalve head from me, great comms nice fella. He is based in Europe and met me a Dover port to collect. I would happily sell to him again.
4.
My funeral bass is going to be funding my car repairs this week to get the kids to and from nursery.
Yep, my kit has just paid for a new wheel bearing, belt pulley and dpf. It's a Nissan primastar, A gift that just keeps on giving!
5. Well, I sold my Hexavalve to a lovely fella from Belgium. He met me at Dover port a really nice guy. He paid via bank transfer, however, it came out £6 short, I didn't mind. We meet up and low a behold, he has brought some traditional locally brewed beer as a gift! I had one last night, absolutely beautiful beer! Sweet, light with plenty of head. 9% mind, so I only had 1 (he gave me three 75cl bottles). It's been said before, but some really top people on BC, a great community to cherish! Cheers Olivier, enjoy the amp!
6. What about shed7 - disco down?
7. Ok, it's gone... so who had it??? In a way I'm glad at my procrastination, i could have recieved a bass that I really didn't 'feel'..... that's what I'm telling myself anyway. If the new owner is on here, fancy a NBD review? 😀
8. Cab sold, amp is on hold for now..
9. Thanks all for the responses, best wait and see if I have a sale then!
10. Just a quick question all, I may be about to sell an item within Europe via bank transfer. Aside from waiting 24 hours once the credit has been recieved into my account, is there anything else I need to ensure? Are there any different rules/abilities in recalling the credit by a European bank (as I understand U.K to U.K. transfers are pretty final)? Thanks in advance..
11. Ah ok thanks!
12. Hello all, How do I skip to the most recent post on a topic that is many pages long when using BC mobile? I have a iPhone. Thanks, Andrew
13. I'm still mulling over it, I fancy giving it a try, but I think I will be unlikely to get my money back if I want to sell.
14. ..... when you are not interrupted by the Bingo.
15. Damn, 5 hours and 9 minutes away with some walking required according to Google maps! Oh well, have a bump on me..
16. Afraid so, I will give you a shout if it all goes a bit 'ebay'...
17.
I always keep my gear in the house. I bought a couple of cabs once that had been kept in an unheated garage over winter and they smelled musty and damp. They worked OK but surely on a long term basis that can't be good for them. Apparently our cat used to get into my 118 Mesa Boogie cab through the large slot ports at the bottom. I discovered this one night when it appeared in front of me on the pavement after I'd just unloaded outside a local gig! I managed to catch the thing and get it back into the car and back home before I had to start playing.
Now you come to mention it, I did have a Trace 2x10 monitor cab once that I stupidly kept in a shed, it didn't take long for the diaphragm material to become so damaged it split during a gig.
18. I leave our in the garage, it is an internal one though (i.e. Part of the house with heating)... occasionally I leave stuff in the van, but am not keen on it.
19. I'd go try it if I were closer, although I could pay a visit and spend the day trying different basses!
20.
If it is anything like my old four string, very shallow (front to back) but quite wide (top to bottom). As viewed from a playing position, that is. Very flat radius. Extremely easy to set and maintain a very low action (if that is what you want). Graphite can feel a bit cold in the winter though - and even get condensation forming on it if you bring the bass from a cold car into a hot sweaty gig!
Ahh cool, the string spacing is quite small though?
21. Would this be a nice fast, slim neck? I'm not a baseball bat type of guy.
22. Oooooooooohhhh I want to sell the Warwick SS2 now!!!
23. Lovely, Wembley '86 on video, rewind, play, pause, rewind play, until I got it with my first bass at 14. It was even a black Encore P.
24. Cool, nice outcome then...
