1. I've been thinking about getting a delay. How much for the DD-3?
2. I just bought a Maruszczyk Jazz from Peter. There was very good communication and quick postage, so I couldn't be happier with how it went. He's a pleasure to do business with . Pretty sweeeet bass too.. Thanks!
3. Uber pretty bass you have there! What are the neck dimensions of it like? Same nut width and everything as a regular Fender Jazz?
4. For me music definitely comes first whenever I go see a gig, whatever the band looks like I'll still enjoy so long as I like the music. But if the band looks cool too it always enhances the whole show to me. I think it helps to keep peoples attention too, cos if theres nothing good to look at why bother looking at the stage? And if people aren't looking at the stage then they maybe start to drift and not really listen that much. So I think either way having a good image is never going to make the music take a back seat in a performance, it can only add to it..
5. Does anyone know where I can get one of these wider straps made of nylon? I can't find them anywhere, and I kinda want something a little more slippery. Check out Justin-Meldal Johnson's strap in this vid if you've no idea what straps I mean. 6. Yeah it had crossed my mind to make a hybrid actually, might have to go down that route. Can't say I've heard of Brandoni before but i'll check it out. Cheers for all your input guys!
7. Hey all, Does anyone know of any decent jazz basses that have a slightly wider neck? More like on a Pbass. I played a lakland joe osborn skyline the other day and loved the sound, but I never really get on with the necks of jazz basses. Anyone know of any basses of a similar standard with the slightly wider neck? Cheers guys.
8.
I thought Ric basses were 33 1/4" scale?
My mistake Al Heeley you're right, for some reason I'd picked up that they were 32" from somewhere. Cheers for your info anyway guys, much appreciated! Interesting idea about the fretless neck, something to have a think about. Not quite sure how good my woodwork skills are, but I'll have a stab at it in the future why not.
9. Lately I've been half thinking I might build a bass, but I'm a bit new to this idea, so this is just a general query for anyone in the know really. I've always fancied a Jazz bass, but I'm not so keen on the necks and headstocks of them generally. I was thinking it might be cool to build a medium scale Jazz, like 32" similar to a Rickenbacker. I was wondering what kinds of things I'd need to keep in mind if I was going to do this. Obviously the fret sizes have to be different, but do you need to re-posistion the bridge or anything? Also if anyone has any idea where I could get a 32" scale neck with two tuning pegs on either side I'd love to know, I can't find them anywhere! Many thanks.
10. Cheers for your help guys! Some kind of combination of all this stuff seems a decent idea, though my student loan only stretches so far... That was an interesting idea about adding a heavier bridge too, I hadn't actually thought of that one. Much thanks for all your input anyways.
11. Hi, So I recently bought a Gibson Grabber Bass (from a certain Mr Wooleydick, who was of great service by the way), and I really love the bass, sounds massive and plays great. The only thing is the neck is always weighing down on me when I'm playing stood up. I've tried to correct the problem by bringing the strap button at the bridge end, round towards the top, if that makes sense, so to try and counter-weight the neck a bit more. It helped a little bit, but it's still not perfect. I wanted to ask if anyone else has had a similar problem with a neck heavy bass and how they corrected it, if they did? I'm now thinking perhaps put on some lighter machine heads, but I'm not sure how much difference it will make. Any ideas would be much appreciated, cos I really wanna get along with my bass stood up! Thanks, Phil
12. Haha good point, they are indeed outputs... That's really cool though, I did wonder whether they were separately for each pickup, like on Billy Sheehan's Attitude bass I believe. If only I had the rig to go with it.... Cheers for clearing that up though haha.
13. Hey Ive just been checking out some Rickenbacker 4001s/4003s on the internet, and played one briefly a while back. But Ive always wondered why they had two inputs? Probably a total n00b question, but I just never knew. If anyone could help me out I'd be grateful. Cheers
14. Cheers for your feedback Tee, I might just treat myself to it What the hell, you only live once right?...
15. Hey guys, I recently discovered these basses on the internet and was blown away by how stunning they look. I like the idea of having a short scale bass, and the whole retro thing is cool to me. Just wondered if anyone owned one, or had played one, and whether theyre any good basically? Is this worth my money?
