1978 American Fender Precision Bass. Made in the Fullerton Factory, California, CBS era. Looking for[b] £900. [/b] [b]No trades thanks.[/b] [color=#333333]Good few dings on this, have a look at the pictures. But expected of a bass this old. [/color] [color=#333333]The scratchplate is in two pieces, and comes apart round about jack input, but isn't a problem when it's screwed on. Easy to replace though if you wanted to. [/color] [color=#333333]It's had a respray to the Olympic White that it is now. Really professional job by Dave Wilson Guitars. There is a graze on the paint near the pickup where I had a thumbrest glued on. The pictures make it look a little more white than it is - it's more of a cream colour. [/color] [color=#333333]It's pretty weighty, typical of a late 70s P I believe. About 5kg (going from bathroom scales). So about 11lb I'd say. I think that the advantage of a heavy bass though, is a really heavy tone! Loads of sustain and richness to the sound. [/color] [color=#333333]Original pickups have been long since replaced with Dimarzio PAF pickups, a pretty common upgrade for basses of this era. Wonderfully loud and punchy! [/color] [color=#333333]The bridge has been replaced with a Badass II, which I think gives it even more sustain, but I have the original bridge too which I'll include. [/color] [color=#333333]The pots have also been changed with CTS pots. I believe the originals were slightly faulty in some way, but I have them to include also. [/color] [color=#333333]Has both original strap pins. [/color] [color=#333333]Setup with a fairly low action, so it's a joy to play. [/color] [color=#333333]Comes with a Hiscox hard case. [/color] [color=#333333]The reason I'm selling is that I'm simply not using it. I play my Gibson Grabber pretty exclusively now, so I'd rather it go to someone who'll love it. [/color] [color=#333333]Would prefer collection from my house in Poole, Dorset. But I'd be willing to drive a reasonable distance to meet at buyers expense. Ashdown 2x10 cabinet. Good working condition. A few years old but sounds perfect - nice and deep and punchy. Selling because I'm moving to one big cab rather than two small ones. Thanks Cocco, the Ripper is indeed lovely. I have a Grabber too actually, and it's my biggest love. In fact I've been playing my Grabber pretty much exclusively for gigs for a little while now, and I'd like to raise funds to get a better rig. Hence why the Ripper must go, whilst I would love to keep it. No real interest though? Make me an offer

Up for sale is my 1979 Gibson Ripper. Maple body, ebony fingerboard. Good working condition. [b]Now £650[/b] One thing to note is the headstock has been repaired. As with apparently a lot of Gibson basses and guitars, the headstock had been snapped under the nut where it meets the neck, presumably by being stepped on while being flat on it's back on the floor. When I bought it turned out to not have been repaired in the best way, and came loose on me during a gig - not ideal. So I took it to a luthier to be repaired again. He scraped out all the glue from the shoddy repair, and put it back together by putting it in a vice overnight, fixing it with some super industrial strength glue that's apparently used in the glueing of wings to aeroplanes. Since then I have gigged it a bunch and never had an issue. Seems as good as new. Otherwise there are a few scrapes and dings on the paintwork, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a 35 year old bass. Electronics are working well. Comes with the original Gibson hard case too. I'm based in Poole, Dorset. Coming by to try it out is welcomed, and I'm also willing to deliver it myself or meet halfway a reasonable distance from here, which will be included in the price. I'd prefer not to courier if at all possible, but it could be arranged at the buyers expense if absolutely necessary. Cheers for looking!
