1.
Not really a bass solo, more solo bass. This one does it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZH99St4HGk...feature=related
holy sh*t... mind = blown.
2. I have searched all over for webcam capture software, too much shareware and not enough audio options. I have a webcam and a high quality audio interface, and I just wanna capture some jamming. I'm handy with video editing software, it's just the capturing of video... How do you all go about recording through a webcam and external audio source?
3.
Its a filthy patch in Amplitube Metal called (I kid you not!!) Smiling Harry Syphilis The main riff is just one track and the whole thing 3, kit loops, riff and the wah guitar part. If I remember right I was mucking about with the Stealth Pedal and Amplitube Metal and just noodled to a beat. The hardest part was having to go back & work out what I had played to do the wah guitar part
Ah, awesome man! Would you mind sending me the Amplitube preset? I have been using it for all my recordings, and whilst it's the best amp modeling sim I've tried, I still can't get a tone I'm absolutely satisfied with. *Edit Oh, silly me, it's already on there. You're right, it's filthy!
4. After reading through this thread, I think I know what my next bass is gonna be... I know I won't ever be able to love anything more than the Jazz, but a P-bass seems essential for playing a wider range of music. Any recommendations for my next Fender? If the MIJ P-bass is as awesome as all the other MIJ instruments I own, I think I might look for one. I'm not up to scratch with Fender's recent quality control, I heard that 08-09 models were awful?
5. I did a gig last night, a commemorative event for my uncle. It was my first proper gig, I was bricking it and it showed in my playing ): I know it's supposed to come with experience, but I've done about 5 smaller gigs now and I've always been overcome with nerves. I just can't act the way I do in the rehearsal room when I'm on stage... I managed to fit in some autistic head bobbing and foot tapping, but I just felt awkward. It's a shame 'cos I was excited to do it, and I really wanna be able to show everyone what I've got when I'm up there...
6. A classic that will always be one of my favourite songs Timeless...
7. I experience this quite often... I end up getting ahead of myself and playing really sloppy, and then feeling down about it. I find the best thing to do, is just to take it really slow, I mean real slow. Start off doing an exercise or a part you're trying to learn to a metronome at, say, 60bpm. Work your way up to a speed that's comfortable and just keep looping it, playing it again and again until you're basically hypnotised... Do it until your hands hurt. I usually find that when I play the next day, my hand is perfectly in tune with my brain and I can play accurately and cleanly. I'm no expert, but that's the best advise I can give.
8. Demo is done http://www.box.net/shared/7hcob6voan Gonna go round my friends house (who's pretty handy with recording and stuff) and get it recorded properly with decent drum samples, mixed properly and decent bass! I couldn't get a good enough bass tone to record what I had in mind.
9. Singing the notes as you play them can really help with pitching, well at least, it did for me. I can sing melodies but my voice is so uninteresting and void of any character ):
10. I think it just depends on what you want to do, it's such a broad subject... If you want to do some session work, but reading music will be required, well then you'll regret not learning theory. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you've been asked to transpose something up a tone on the bass, surely playing 2 frets higher is all that's need? And the rest of it would be up to the guitarist and keyboardist to figure out the correct chords?
11. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I'm writing a song that I want to record over the next few days and would appreciate feedback. I'm not sure on the genre, it's just what I was feeling at the time of writing. I have guitar pro 4 and 5 files, and a midi file for those who don't have guitar pro. I haven't done the bass yet, I know it's the most important part and I've been experimenting with things as you can hear if you unmute the bass track. For those who are listening to the midi file, the airy synth melody is the vocal track. Any criticism or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! If all goes well I might get it all done and recorded today.
12. holy queefing jesus, that sounds awesome. really decent hardcore vocals, which is rare, and sick production! sounds like what dillinger escape plan would sound like if they were good.
13. how did you get such a full sound? just good tone and double tracking? ..awesome riffage!
14. Amazing tones and melodies, and of course, playing. The whole thing would work so well as a full band song, if you would be interested in recording something like that I would love to join in.
15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwhkPSEXs1Q This track always sends me to another planet. Listen to that fill at 0:33...
16.
If they're all 5 years younger than him, there's a good chance that any of their female fans are 5 years younger too. So, maybe he's onto a winner after all.
What if he's only 17? He's banging 12 year olds! And to the OP, the tracks on the myspace are really decent.
17. Without any notification, my dad is taking it off to be fixed... I never got time to get a picture of the crack, but I will make sure I get a picture of the repair work. There's an RBX170 (the mega crap version of this bass) floating around here, and he's asking for £110. So after the repair, I will have to bump up the price to £90. Will take any serious offers/trades.
18. Couldn't find a part for my bass I was looking for everywhere, Andy sent a PM saying he had the parts and would ship them for a couple of quid, and they came next day. Pleasure doing business.
19. Hello, I advertised this bass on here a while ago, it didn't sell (but got plenty of replies mentioning how good the bass is for the price), and since then, I somehow managed to crack the headstock. Started off as a crack, which I thought nothing of, but the string tension eventually caused a thin split in the headstock. It is a magnificent sounding bass, lovely neck and easy to play on. I was told I could get it fixed up professionally, and pretty cheap (I was thinking that anyone handy with repairs here might be interested in this bass, it's pretty cheap after all). I just don't have the money, and that's also the reason I'm selling it. I'm skint. £60 + £10 postage with Parcel2go, or if you would like to recommend another courier, please go ahead. **EDIT, my dad got the bass repaired, the silly git, so I am now bumping up the price to £90. This bass is still well worth the money, it's extremely versatile and comfortable to play. So again, it's a professional sounding and feeling bass that goes for about £200 (cheapest I could find). For what it's worth, I was told all that need to be done is an injection of glue into the split. Here are the pictures I posted previously, and I will get a detailed picture of the split soon.
20.
I can't be arsed to read the whole thread I'm sure Jaco, Flea, Wooten, Sheehan, Miller Ect.... have come up and yuah they are all over-rated especially Jaco and Sheehan.
Ah, lame. Another weak opinion with no substance. Try playing with this much groove, tone and fluidity. It's never gonna happen, not in your whole life time. And if you can't at least respect his playing and achievements, well then good luck becoming a respected musician yourself.
21.
If Jaco were still alive he'd possibly be in the top 100 or so, in terms of sought after and respected and accomplished bassists. Good, sure, but nothing special. He's only regarded as some sort of diety because he died tragically, and tragically young. If he was still around I doubt we'd even notice him. So to answer the original question, Jaco - for me - is the most overratted bassist of all time.
It was his style and innovation that caused him to be regarded as "some sort of diety". Was Miller so heavily influenced by Jaco because he was dead? I don't think so. I can't even imagine what bass would be had Jaco not been alive. Just thought you should know. And perhaps actually listen to his work before trying to give an opinion.
22. Dunno if it has already been said but... Pete Wentz. God, that guy needs to die.
23. Strange, my friend has a Ray, the G on the 10th fret of the a string rings out too much and overpowers everything...
24. Also, here is the message I sent:
Hello, I'm not here to be an ass or anything, but due to the damage of the bass that wasn't in the description, I have been advised to request money for a repair. I'm totally happy with the price I paid for something that would have cost more, but it was a lot of money for me and I don't have the money to have the action lowered, the saddle fixed, and another thing you forgot to mention in the description; the e string is quieter than the rest of the strings. It is within my legal right to get a full refund at this stage, but I'm genuinely not doing this to be spiteful, so I think the money for a simple repair would be reasonable. What do you think?
I'm keeping my cool, and being nice. If I don't get a reply I will go apesh*t.
