1. This is true, but I'll admit to untrained and uninformed ears (not you Jono) it can sound like a bit of a magic switch, but you lose a hell of a lot of presence in a live mix, especially, if the mids dissappear.
2. http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/2008/...-Bass-Amps.html Looks like Ashdown are in on the class d light little beast side of things again!
3. It's a mid scoop, I don't like them myself, the flat sound works absolutely fine, it cuts out the mids, which you want, really!
4. You can do a lot worse than Squier stuff right now, we have a few in the college where i work and they're still perfectly playable cheapy basses and feel pretty solid, when you consider my 62 American vintage precision as a benchmark, they're surprisingly good quality stuff!

6. Every band ad I ever have the misfortune of reading is 'record label interest' or 'major deal in the pipeline', I can only guess it's that classic little trick to make your band seem better and more successful than you are in front of other musicians, this has been happening forever and it's annoying.
7. We had a gig in a restaurant in the center of Bristol, wedding party, the sound man (who shall remain nameless), but isn't our usual sound company, forgot to bring lights He's an excellent engineer and gets a great sound every time, but everything he does takes forever (people will know who this is from that I'm sure), knowing this I was self elected to 'use my contacts' and sort out some lights, I ended up driving across the city to get the keys to a mates lockup, which I hadn't unlocked myself before, he gave me the wrong alarm code! Alarms, flashing lights and panic! Once sorted I got onto the m32 to find it jammed up for about a mile, got back with minimum time, set the lights up, got changed and played. Good gig, though!
8. PTP I'm pretty sure they were bass centre elites, maybe terry blyth or the other guy who owned it would be able to confirm
9. ...Only you have to go all the way to Midsomer Norton..!
10. I feel I have to stick my foot in and defend the Prom I love playing at the Prom!

14. Well I'm waiting for my Iamp500 to arrive and JonoB has bought my Ashdown head, so I decided to borrow Tracy the Trace from work, who just got back from the fix it man's house. (his names not jim) And what a sound it makes!
15. As someone with massively limited skill and knowledge with a soldering iron, I would like to let you know that replacing a jack socket is easier than an easy thing.
16. Okay £425, thats the same price as a bland/brand new mexican jazz bass! This thing's got US pickups and a gorgeous finish, bound neck and matching headstock!
17. These guys know what they're doing!
18. Hello, looks like this has to go too if I want my nice old P bass! It's a 65 reissue Jazz bass i bought around September last year, it's been gigged, but theres only one small knock on the top cutaway which I've pictured. There's a few very fine scratches but nothing that will show up in a photo so they can't be that bad. Set up lovely, brilliant sounds, as anyone who's played it will agree, these basses are brilliant, it saved my back from my 78 jazz bass when i needed it to, and it plays so good, but I still revert to my old jazz bass first. Shall we say £450?
19. Particularly into the idea of a early 70's Precision this week, someone must have something! Ta Jay
20. I don't use EQ at all on anything i've used, I've never needed any more or less of anything from any of my jazz basses. If you have a quality bass and amp and you need that much EQ to get a nice sound (EQ for musical effect aside) there's something wrong!
