Hi there, another guitar I can no longer justify, this is a solid black Japanese Fender Jazz bass, I'm guessing a 62 re issue as it has a very thin neck profile Those 'in the know' will understand what that means build quality wise but for those who don't, many Fender fans, me included will have to admit that the Japanese Fenders far surpass their American counterparts of that period (hope I haven't offended anyone!), I base this on a current ownership of a 72 and 78 jazz bass, and many vintage and japanese Fenders before. I've owned this a few years and at one point I got the fever for electronics and such and drilled an ''S1'' switch into the control plate and made a bit of a mess of the soldering, having come to realise I want to sell it, I've bought and fitted new control plate, CTS pots, and genuine Fender knobs to fit, the good news is my soldering is very neat these days! The scratchplate isn't original, and wasn't when I bought it, can supply a faded old white one I have lying around if the buyer prefers. It's a lovely bass, nice low action, does the growly thing well, serial number H010730 dates it to 1988/89, some scratches here and there I'm afraid and some wear in the first position on the back of the neck where it's been played in nicely but nothing that detracts from the experience, if I ever had a professional reason to use this thing I'd keep it for myself. I'm moving house soon and only get a box room for my music stuff and, being a professional music teacher/musician- the guitar and bass collection is in double figures! Sounds bloody great, would be perfect for someone dipping their toe into the fretless thing, it is unmarked on the fretboard (no cheating!) but you get dots on the side to help. Not a bad entry into 'almost vintage' territory, It's about 22 years old, in pretty good condition and can only appreciate in value. Fitted with my favourite Marcus Miller DR strings, quite fresh, very strong midrange, fully recommend you buy a chorus pedal (from someone on Basschat of course) and then you'll be sounding amazing. Viewings/test drives available in Long Ashton, Bristol, no tire kickers it doesn't have any and I don't trust my contents insurance. One last thing to add, may not have internet providings for the next couple of weeks while I move, my phone number is 07827335222 and I'm James £600

Needing to thin out the collection a little...any questions welcome by phone or Pm, I am in Bristol. The black '78 is 100% genuine and original apart from a switch replacement made by the previous owner, in generally good condition for it's age and plays great- £1400 The green '62 American Vintage RI is of the 'Thinskin' variety, I think this makes it more like the originals, instead of using the thick stuff they these days, again, plays well £1100 The Martin is a 000x-1 dreadnought, with a spruce top, great condition, cost well in excess of £500 new, yours for £320 May possibly be swung into a trade if it's vintage Telecaster/Jazz/Precision or 335, please don't get in touch with anything else as I am, admittedly, extremely finickety- and am very happy with my current 70's Jazz bass, I can't stress this enough, I really, really don't want a Spector! that's all anyone ever offers me on here! Will swap acoustic for mint condition HD350 plus cash your way James 07545237818

Selling some stuff to fund a new guitar, only ever gig with my 73 jazz so decided this has to go Was surprised to see today these sell for £1300 new! Has a few dings from gigs (my fault), nothing terrible and some belt buckle rash from the previous owner but the kind of person to buy one of these will appreciate the ''mojo'' I'm sure, having trouble picking them up in photos so viewing is reccomended. Strung with DR Marcus Miller, will come complete with original Fender Case, all the ''case candy'' and pickup covers (never been fitted) Going to ask the same as one that went recently on here £600 Happy to deliver within 30 miles (for some petrol money) or you can come and view at my house. Jay 0754 5237818 or PM me Cheers Edit- contact details (woops)

Decided to sell some stuff to make some space for a more expensive guitar so my Strat has to go. Great sounding/looking guitar would suit a beginner/bass player looking for a nice guitar to mess around with (what i bought it for) Had it for a year or so from new, is pretty much immaculate I'd say and has new D'addario's and has been set up. Not keen on posting I'm in Bristol or can Deliver within say, 30 miles if we negotiate petrol money. £300 07545237818 Jay/PM's

Learn to read and get the book!

Yeah I agree but this guy blatantly doesn't care about that so why not cheat?

It's fine until you realise you want to play with other human beings, or read music and need a language between you to explain what the hell's going on... Theres only 4 strings with 12 notes on...you get up to the 12th fret and it happens all over again, and if you tune in 4ths like most of us, you can learn all the notes on E and A, and blag the rest with the two ''octave'' shapes, which means you only actually have to learn the notes on E and A.

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???

I chose to read Wizbat's post as ''Biscuity'' and will now forever think of biscuits and slap bass as the exact same thing. -
Anything by Japan

Yeah you're wrong it's sexy I'd love it if it was only worth a bite of a flapjack and half a Strongbow mate! -

BassmanKev...My Fender is worth more than £1500 and its all I play, I teach with it and I do a whole load of different kind of gigs from it and it's the only bass I've owned that I'm happy with... So am i just showing off? I can assure you I'm not rich!
