1. Maybe if I'm forced to hold onto it that long we'll be in business martthebass!
2. Bump to add that I took the scratchplate off for the first time the other day and the volume pot appears to be newer than the tone pot. Also looking at documentation for the work I had done on it, the metal nut that holds the tone pot on has been replaced.
3. Cool looking guitar. I'm always surprised by how bass players in particular can be tempted by puns and wordplay
4. 73/4 Precision for sale here 73/4 Jazz Bass Rickenbacker 4003 78 Jazz Bass As you can tell I like block inlays.
5. Bargain?! I mean't £3000 Thanks for the replies, for all the haters out there I have some photos (only kidding). Thanks also for the weight pointers, the picture is the closest I can get I make it a shade under 8 1/2 lbs but you can make your own minds up -like I said, crappy Ikea bathroom scales, sorry. It really is quite light, much moreso than my '73 jazz bass. I just took straplocks off because I've been gigging it, the originals are safely filed away, I'll put them back on for the buyer. The "tugbar" - sounds like a seedy establishment put that way doesn't it? is missing but the holes are there, I don't miss it. there are indeed all the appropriate holes for the ashtrays as well, very hard to get a good picture but I can assure you they're there. Please refer also to my gear porn thread for tasty stuff.
6. This bass, as you can see is in excellent condition, it's recently had a £150 spent on it for a new nut and refret by Bristol luthier Tom Waghorn, it's been done to an incredible standard with historically accurate parts, and was well worth it as it played like a dog before - it's perfect now, action is apparently below average for a Fender now. Other than that, as far as I can tell it's all original. I don't have an original case or ashtrays for it I'm afraid so it would have to be picked up from me. Just under 8 1/2 lbs. Have updated to show neck plate, I was told it was 73/4 when I bought it but neck plate and neck stamp are '72, wahey. 7. Still weighs this much, someone buy it.
8. My bad, wishful thinking. 4.1 kg it is.
9. Weight update for those interested.
10. £1250, price drop, come get it
11. Come on at least make me an offer, no you can't buy the sunburst one.
12. 2 Days and several offers on the '73 but nothing for the '76, come on guys, focus your attention! Will entertain the idea of an EBS HD350 plus cash my way, or Fender Deluxe Reverb guitar amp plus cash my way again. J
13. Not getting on with this one, I bought a nice '73 precision to match my Jazz bass which I think I'm going to stick with, I thought I'd share with you all as I'm sure there are some afficionados out there who like a nice Fender. A nice weight 4.1 kg plays lovely, has Roto 66's but would suit some nice flatwounds just as easily. All original as far as I know, non original case included £1200 I'm in Bristol 07827335222 or PM, or [email protected]
14. Thanks Si, interesting stuff I've got a few 70's Jazzes and a 70's strat and they all have signatures in the pocket but nothing like this. It's lovely, would like more info on the finish - what's the undercoat? i can see white but I know some were gold, some were silver? I will keep an eye on this one if noone takes it give me a PM after christmas and I'll come and have a look? James
15. Timbre isn't the only aspect of music, but it's the only aspect throwing money at can affect for the better. I'm not qualified to state this as a fact but humans do seem to like the quick fix and tone can be "bought" and "owned".
16. Does anyone know about the neck pocket? it doesn't look like anything I've seen before.
