  1. I know GHS do a set but I can't seem to find them anywhere in the UK. Anyone know of any is stick somewhere, or of another brand that does pressurewound nickels?
  2. This hit me hard. Bernie was one of my heroes when I was in my teens, and I saw him a few times when he was in Alaska, the Moody Marsden Band, and solo of course. Great player, but above all a kind, generous and humble human being. No age too Rest in Peace Bernie. Thank you for the music.
  3. Not in my experience, but horses for courses....
  4. You beat me to it And yes, I'd either leave it or do the iron with a damp tea towel trick.
  5. Steve bought a pedal off me. Super smooth deal and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
  6. Versatile synth pedal in very good condition with original box. Particularly good for those 80s basslines! Price includes 2nd class recorded.
  7. For me, it's La Bella white nylon flats on a fretless, and has been since pretty much they were introduced. They are very versatile, aren't "thumpy" or dull at all, and have plenty of sustain right down to the low E and B. I love them.
  8. I love 5s. I've played them so much over the last twenty years that any less, or indeed more, feels odd to me. Here are my two Franz basses from Germany. They are just fantastic ❤️
  9. Bright Onions stuff is great and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them. I have had a few AB switches from them over the years but currently I am using a Quad Momentary Footswitch to work with my MS3: currently set up as up/down banks, tuner, and tap BPM.
  10. Hello everyone. Thanks for the updates: lots of interesting opinions and insights! I know some history to the piano we have. It is metal framed and was made in London at the turn of the last century. I have no idea what it's worth, but the good news is it's in sufficiently good nick and holds its tuning that a local village primary school are going to take it gratis. I'm happy with that
  11. Welcome Ollie. I've spent time in Killington VT (ski-ing holiday) and Henniker NH (work). Nice part of the world.
  12. I have an old family upright piano that I'd like to move on but I have no idea where to start. It's in decent, but not great, nick. Any ideas?
  13. I had one of these a while back and it was a great cab. Highly recommended.
  14. Great one cab solution. I've heard nothing but good things about these combos.
  15. Well the larger cab moves a lot more air. The smaller cab sounds great at low to mid volumes but struggles when pushed hard, understandably. The second driver is really good for adding detail when playing upright.
  16. Yes, I didn't feel I needed the tweeter and I was right. Plenty of natural top end without any harshness.
  17. Yep. Both my 1x12 and 1x6+1x12 sound great with mine.
  18. Also after 40 years of playing I have settled on my two Franz basses. They are perfect in every way.
  19. Just popped a set of La Bella 45-128 flats on my main bass and they are perfect tension when detuned by the half-step we play in.

  20. Another super smooth sale to Mike of some strings. He's the real deal people!
  21. I love La Bella nylon flats. Also had good success with the Galli flats, so I guess I prefer low tension flats. I do find that E and B strings are often very dead, thuddy if you will, compared to the higher strings though.
  22. Literally put on for one gig and then taken off. We down tune a half step and the E and B were too flappy at that tension, although they are great in standard tuning! Gauge is 60/70/94/115/134, which sounds heavy but really isn't. Cut for 3 over 2 headstock. £60 from Bass Direct, so a little saving on new. Price includes postage.
  23. Handmade in Devon, Heistercamp straps are super soft and beautifully put together. I've used a lot of straps over the years, and IMHO these are the best. Here are the specs: Leather Finish: Super Soft Leather Colour: Dark Brown Lining: Smooth Leather Lining Colour: Black Stitching Colour: Ochre Strap Length: 47" (42" - 55") Strap Width: 3" No padding Buttonholes: 8mm standard (perfect for Dunlop straplocks) Cable Tidy added This would cost you £83 to buy new, so get a decent saving on a handmade West Country classic.
