1. Bless you Phil. I think you know I'll have all the fretless tones I could possibly want covered in the near future though....
2. Bump for interesting trades of equivalent value.
3. I so want this back! It's such a beautiful bass and plays really well; best passive fretless I've ever used.
4. No jazz cats wanting to solo on this beauty?
5. GONE Fantastic piccolo bass from Joe Veillette's workshop in Woodstock! This bass weighs just 7lbs and is 26.1" scale. It was designed to be strung BEAD or EADG with nylon strings (specifically, the bottom four from the La Bella BG-10 set) tuned an octave higher than a normal bass guitar. Pickup is an NB Ducer 4000 from Japan with a D-Tar Timberline 18 volt Preamp. Controls are a simple Volume and Tone. Poplar body with a quilted maple top, wenge/ebony bridge and wenge fingerboard on, I assume, a maple neck. It's in very good condition, with just two tiny nicks on the headstock and one on the top. Chrome Gotoh tuners and Dunlop straplocks. The package is rounded out by a Levys gigbag. Cheers Gareth
6. I'm now gigging that day so won't be able to attend
7.
Also, recent news that Steve Chick who designed the electronics for Pete, is back in business building his own Midi Bass
Website here!
8. Having just picked up a piccolo bass that was strung ADGC, I need to open the nut slots up a bit more to accommodate EADG. I don't really want to buy a set for a one off job, and taking them to a repair shot will cost almost as much. I'm thinking of just using needle files to do the job, but if anyone NE Hampshire or Central London can lend me a set that'd be grand. I only need .037 .041 and .045. The fourth slot is fine as is. Cheers Gareth

11. Better edit my kit from: Wal Mk III (spalted maple) fretted 5, Rick Turner Renaissance Bass fretted 5, Veillette Archtop Bass fretless 5, Brook Otter fretted 5 ABG to: Wal Mk III (spalted maple) fretted 5, Veillette Piccolo Bass 4, Veillette Archtop Bass fretless 5 (hopefully), Brook Otter fretted 5 ABG
12.
I keep getting drawn to view this beautiful Wal 5 string every now and again. The beech top is stunning and having a Wal myself I know how good it will sound.
Ah, that bass was made for me. Should never have sold it - how many times have I said that to myself about different basses over the years! - but at least I replaced it with another Wal....
13. I bought this wonderful little tenor guitar direct from Fylde in December last year. Tenor guitars were invented in the early C20th to facilitate the conversion of banjo players to guitar as the latter became popular. This one is tuned GDAE (low to high), so it has virtually the same range as a normal guitar, just with two less strings. It's a wonderful instrument that has just been added to the regular Fylde range. It's pretty much mint condition, Fylde having used it as a demo prior to me buying it, with just a very small nick on the front of the headstock and a couple of light pick marks that will probably polish out; I've added a strap button (supplied by Fylde) at the neck joint. I've never gigged it, just played it at home, and it's strung with Elixirs. The tone is sweet, but surprisingly loud. No pickup fitted. Comes with the original Hiscox case. Full specification can be found on the Fylde website here, but it's basically cedar top, sapele back and sides with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard; the promotional pictures featured on the website are of the actual instrument I have for sale. Happy to post worldwide at cost. RRP is £1100 for a new one, so get one that's basically new for a little less. Only reason for selling is I'm releasing funds for my Veillette archtop.
14. Just to say Anthomp is THE MAN to deal with. If he says they're in great condition, they are.
15.
I've got a Mo Clifton piccolo "travel" bass - five string, normal tuning but an octave up and a 24" scale.
What strings to you put on that bass?
16. Looks like I'm free that day, so count me in! Wal Mk III (spalted maple) fretted 5 Rick Turner Renaissance Bass fretted 5 Veillette Archtop Bass fretless 5 (if it's finished) Brook Otter fretted 5 ABG (just to look at mind) Probably won't bring my LMK amp or EA cabs (NL210 and CXL112) unless someone is desperate for me to do so... Cheers Gareth
17. I'd suggest Headway. They're a British company and very helpful. Quite a lot of choices on their website. There are other makes of course, Fishman, Duncan-Turner, B-Band etc. Gareth
18.
Thanks, will have a look. I'd like it at around 600 to 800 tops but all depends...
I suspect that Turner is an awesome fretless, and at a great price too.
