1. Isn't Voxpop looking for an SWR cab at the mo?
2. Great basses. I've had one in the past and it really was top notch. I'm M3 corridor and would buy it if I had any spare cash; the only trade bait I have, if the OP is even interested in trades, would involve cash my way And nobody has mentioned the slipper action going on in the corner of the picture! Anyway, bump for a excellent piece of kit. Cheers Gareth
3. These are the absolute business! I had one and wish I'd never sold it. Yes they are heavy, but oh the sound.......
4. I've only been on the upright for about a year, and don't even own a full size bass - I play a hybrid BSX Allegro 5 - so I guess my comments are very much those of a newbie too. My bass came with Spiro Weichs on it, but I wanted something lower tension and went for Innovation Silver Slaps. They have, for me, the perfect tension, they also feel great under the fingers, and I just love the sound. The action on my bass is about 7mm at the end of the fingerboard, which is fine my playing style in both pizz and slapping. The bass is piezo only, built into the bridge. I don't change my eq at all between slapping and pizz. Cheers Gareth
5. One of the guitarists in my band uses one. He started with the Para DI and liked it so much, both in terms of build quality, reliability, and functionality, that he decided to upgrade to the Venue. It's early days but he seems very impressed and pleased with it, especially the extra features of the built in tuner, mute and boost. Expensive, but you get a lot of bang for your buck.
6. Staying in the BC family I hope?
7. Ain't Google a wonderful thing!
8. I pikced up an H2 from Toasted a few months back and I must say it's been a terrific purchase; dead easy to set up and use. We record all our rehearsals with it now and will be trying it at a gig in due course too. Also might have a go at some Youtube clips synching it with my HD camera.
9. I'd go for this, a 66 Fender Bass V.... Only $4.6K
10. I think Mark at Bass Direct is EA's UK dealer now. Great cabs btw.
11. If anyone is in the market for a top notch acoustic, you really can't do better than this, and at this price it's an incredibly good buy.
12. Love it. Want it. Can't afford it.
13. Fender Roscoe Beck 4 string?
14. Promethean input impedance is 470 kOhm PJB Bass Buddy input impedance: Passive >4MΩ Active >100KΩ
15. Bob Gollihur says this about the WAV: I recommend you consider a suitable outboard preamp or be conscious of the fact that, like any instrument with a passive piezo-based pickup, some EQ work will be a good idea to shape the tone to your preference. His page on do you need a preamp with your pickup? is also a good read.
16.
Yeh, I've seen his youtube clips. Pretty splendid sound. So is his BSX.
If this was Facebook I'd put a big fat "Like" thumbs up here, but it isn't, so I'll put instead!
17. This is dead easy, and lots of fun
18. I have La Bella tapewound flats on my piezo-powered Veillete fretless. I'd never used them before and expected them to be nasty, but I think they are just the right tension and have loads of lovely mwah, plus they are kind on fingerboards and fingers too!
19.
Same here - I swear by mine. I have the molded ones with ER15 filters in them and I've rarely done a gig without them since 2000. Well worth the money - think of it as a few quid a year to protect your hearing for the rest of your life.
Plus the one to all that. I've been using them for 15 years and vary the filters according to how loud the situation is.
20. Here's a nice Mk III Wal. Similar, no?
21.
Seems like a blend between a Sandberg and a Human Base, which makes for a very appealing bass indeed!
I've always thought they look like MkIII Wals. Very nice!
22. Great price for a terrific piece of kit.
23.
is the strap button on the neck, could be the answer on such light instruments
No, it's at the neck joint. Veillette use an unusual system of a single bolt with a T joint (apparently, I've never taken the neck off), and the strap button is attached to this. It is rock solid. You can see what I mean in the picture below.
24. It still amazes me that my Veillettes have no neck dive whatsoever. In fact, they are very lightweight and balance perfectly.
25.
it's the price which is the show stopper for me!
And this from a man with a pretty hefty range of kit in his sig!
