1. i moved to reaper about 3 years ago, and my original subscription is yet to expire. if you are a casual home recordist, for the money it is excellent.
 2. band 1 sound like they have their sh*t together and are a well worked unit and would be a draw for a lot of musicians in that type of field. i wouldn't do it personally because i would rather watch dry paint keep drying than play classic rock covers. also, running into the PA might be ideal for them, but not for me. band 2 sounds like your average start up originals band to me, committed to practicing but i would want to know why only 1 gig a month, is this a temporary thing while they are recording an album or getting their sound right? or do they only want to gig once. if the latter i agree with blue and more practice than gigs is a red flag band 3, short and sweet, they know what they want, and rather than go through some bollocks about what we want to sound like etc, they have put the bands name so people can search it and see what they are all about. nothing worse than having to tell everyone who applies "well we want to sound like blah". their approach is, we want this, check us out, take it or leave it.... i like that
 3.
Just found the pics I was looking for - I had a creamy white 32" scale non-export Aerodyne Jazz with 2 J pickups, black scratchplate and binding. Thing of beauty. Sold a while ago now, can't remember why.
i almost bought one just like that on ebay. then my computer f***ed up and i missed it, was gutted ended up with a black one, of same spec, i was much happy
 4. ive got one, mines one of the japanese ones with the scratchplate and really nice binding. i have a beautiful sandblasted jazz and a nice mexican precision, but my aerodyne is my weapon of choice. i don't give two shits what the wood is, it's just a great bass. it is really versatile. i've used it in rock bands, metal bands and a blues trio, and the tone choice i can get out of it is lovely. it has a really smooth tone to it if you want it, but it has a really aggressive tone if played right. the shape and feel may not be to taste, so i would recommend trying one, but i certainly don't regret buying mine and would buy another one in a heartbeat.
 5. gonna try and make it 2 months on the trot, but does mean ill need to do it by this weekend..... interesting, maybe ill try and make it electronic
 6.
I don't believe it, someone gave me a sympathy vote! That's given me a real lift this morning, I feel like I'm floating off the ground, what's the word? Oh yes, Lev-I-TATE!
i still can't believe people are voting for me
 7. voted for mine the other day, i went with dads, fingers and indy this month. some good work in there
 8. Blimey. Someone gave me a vote! Cheques in the post
 9.
So, now is not the right moment for me to resume my 'Play Of The Day' critiques, then..?
go for it however, you may need a good hour to write about how sh*t it is. its very rushed. i wrote and recorded the lyrics, edited and mixed it in the space of 2 hours. i might not be sh*t to other ears... it does have one part which makes me chuckle tho, i'll leave it to you to work out which bit
 10.
In that case you just ask the person to wait while you chat. When you're negotiating contracts at work that's perfectly acceptable to have private chats before sealing any deals.
its also perfectly acceptable to leave a few days between the meeting and signing a deal. when i've auditioned people, i tend to leave it a day or so, so the group can chat about the person with clear heads, and also to allow the auditionee to use that same time to decide if we are what they are looking for. i've been on both sides of "knowing at the audition" result, and it hasn't always worked out. there is nothing worse than saying "yeah i am in" and the waking up the next morning thinking... actually no i'm not and having to let the other party down. but if your way works for you, that's fine
 11. i'm sure there is a thread floating somewhere
 12.
RockfordStone's entry has now been added to the list! If you've already voted, then note you can adjust your choices if you wish...
i wouldn't bother, mine is sh*t
 13.
Hi Rob, apologies for the delay (I've been away) but your track has now been added to the voting!
ta. i dont expect it will get many, it's sh*t
 14. ok so here is mine This song started out as a reflection of the picture, but then it morphed into something in different. Rather than being about the figure in the show, it made me remember how it was to be in the crowd in shows like that during my youth, and then it reminded me of the freedom and careless attitude of university and growing up. From that it ended up being a song about having fun, and that awkward moment when one party in a one night stand believes it was more than just fun... it ended up miles from my initial idea, but hopefully it's fun and enjoyable, like youth was. Get up, Get out forgive the rushed nature of the recordings and mix
 15.
NO; GET YER SKATES ON..! ... ... (Skol will be late posting the voting, anyway, so ... )
i've just got to mix it, then you can have it
 16.
Official date-time for entering is midnight, tonight, so any entrants yet to come may need to get their skates on ... It's not strictly applied, so no panic, but time is running out, just the same. Just sayin'.
oh well in that case, you can't have mine
 17. im in danger of actually submitting something!!! i need to throw some vocals down on something tomorrow then i'll submit it... but ive got to write them first
 18.
Being frustrated in a band is not normal. For those of us that do our homework and only join bands that meet our requirements including material requirements you mitigate that frustration. Blue

I've never toured. However my band has had some 6 gig weeks. To me that's like being in heaven. Blue
1 - whilst research and attempts to mitigate frustration are generally carried out, realistically you don't know everything until you are in that space, week in, week out. for example, i've been in bands that have been like "yeah we want to play as regularly as we can" then when you get into it and they start saying "oh yeah but we won't play there".. that's stuff you just don't get from research. there is also the element of if you have 4 or 5 people in the same room they will all have opinions, and when they don't align it creates frustration. in your band you do what your leader says and get paid, so it isn't normal to be frustrated, but when you are in a band where all of you have a view, there are bound to be clashes... that said sometimes they can bring the best out of the band. 2 - playing 6 nights a week is heaven, the loading in and out driving the length of the country in a van with a hole in the floor through the night having not had a shower in 3 days.. not so much. i've done it, and the being on stage element meeting new people is great fun, but the logistics are a nightmare. i did one where we did a 2 week 13 show tour, and could only afford to have one day off my day job... it is somewhat draining and not for everyone.
 19.
Don't get me wrong I want to play seriously but also have fun.
that's where i'm at, i don't want to stop, but im past there "we are going to be bigger than XYZ, lets tour to 5 people" phase i've got the kit and experience to self produce music, and contacts to play gigs, i just want people who want to do similar, which are hard to find i'm finding.
 20. i have been hearing these rumours too, it seems there are new promoters or owners involved. i've played there before and it was good, but im getting the impression the new runners are a bit sh*t at paying sound guys and honouring gigs etc
 21. nothing wrong with that, we all do it for various reasons, and if yours is hanging with friends and jamming that is a good enough reason
 22.
Decide on the band name before doing any recruitment.
don't forget sorting out a logo, website etc
 23. the chart to me seems like an utter shambles, its now on friday, rather than sunday, singles and albums are now released on fridays, not mondays... the thing with streaming being counted is that effectively, if i listen to an album say 3 times in one day on spotify, each song on that album gets a play, so say 100,000 people did that, each song on the album is getting 300,000 plays, as such shoots up the chart. effectively we could get any old sh*t in the chart if we got enough people to stream it. downloads are different because i think a lot of people now just download individual songs, in the same way that we would buy a single in the old days. streaming has just distorted it for me and the whole concept of a sales chart seems outdated if you just have to have a song played, i often leave spotify playing and forget about it, obviously racking up plays of songs i don't care about, is that a true reflection of a songs popularity? that said, i don't care because i don't listen to the chart anymore or radio for that matter. in regard Ed Sheeran, his songs are simple, catchy and well written pop songs, and on top of that he seems to be a genuinely down to earth and nice bloke.
