  1. It’s a 4 string fender p bass with none of that superfluous stuff, just a good solid p bass (and a set of flats) to let the fingers do the talking? 😀
  2. Ooh what’s ya get? End of year tax dodge?
  3. So what is it you wanna buy before this arbitrary deadline🤣🤣🤣
  4. I sold some high end basses/gear as while they were lovely they were of more value to me as money in the bank. It’s fun to own more than one bass - I have three- but one is a used CV jazz nabbed for about £100 with some minimal upgrades, the second is a P so a no brainer and the third a JMJ which is just fun to play but it also sounds great. I could reasonable shift two of these and still have enough basses for all my gigs but at this stage the cash tied up in them isn’t enough to make it right at this time. Maybe down the mine but for now it’s a pleasure to have all three. If you’re needing to get the cash shift the ones you can do without but you know that brown Yamaha will do the job... no wait it’s orange!
  5. Might be up for a pedal trade. I’m into lower gain drive, maybe a fuzz, interesting preamp/eq. Drop me a pm!
  6. Lovely looking bass which is a bit of a bargain! I previously owned an SRX700 which had a similar neck thru, it was a great bass and a delight to play.
  7. Going back to a stomp?
  8. Yup it puts the Edinburgh one to shame. I always enjoy an excuse to get over to the weeg for a look about.
  9. My thoughts exactly!
  10. Free clinic with a chance to meet Sheldon, talk about his basses, play a few and he's bringing Lee Sklar's actual bass along too. No doubt there will be free schwag for all too. Anyone going? https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/news/140982/
  11. I think that’s why I liked it. I guess some like that BDDI tone as it is ‘that’ tone. I found I could integrate the M80 more easily into what I was doing and make it more prominent if I wanted it to be. If I wanted the BDDI to be less prominent I had to switch it off 😀 Just depends what ones sonic goal is but both good units and will last a lifetime.
  12. I was just chatting about this unit earlier. I preferred it over the sansamp BDDI as I found the MXR to suit what I was doing better. Paired with a jazz it sounded great with a hint of drive, had a good eq and paired well with my drive pedals at the time. I’m relying on a tone hammer as my go to eq unit but it’s a different voicing to the M80 with the TH a more vintage overall ‘flavour’.
  13. To be fair a man in an elaborate frock might also work with that name
  14. If you have some evidence of your performing and can provide a reference (if they ask for one) from a band member who can vouch that you gig you can get custom ear plugs for £40. My singer and I used each other as a reference and just had our impressions done last week. His were only £30 as he's a MU member. See the attached thread link.
  15. That’s what I was gonna say. It sounds quite high!
  16. What price is the bb2005?
  17. Nab it for me - I could be doing with them books!
  18. Schecter USA Monster Tone '78 MA reissue as found in the Michael Anthony custom model bass. I believe you can only buy these as a matched pair (it's a PJ set for nearly $290). This is kinda like the original 1/4lb'er with large diameter pole pieces, high out put and voiced to be more present in the lows and mids with a slight reduction in treble. The 1/4lb'er has a more scooped voicing and I personally prefer the MA 78 as its a bit more balanced in terms of the lows and mids but I don't like a scooped bass tone. For the full blurb and more pic's click on the link: Spacing: Bridge 57mm Universal Spacing / Neck Traditional Offset Spacing Wiring/Design: 2 Conductor Teflon Coated Wire Harness Baseplate: Engraved Brass Baseplate Pole Pieces: 8 @ .25" nickel plated carbon steel Magnet: Ceramic 8 Output at full power: Neck 12.6k ohms https://www.schecterguitars.com/pickups/bass-pickups/michael-anthony-78-signature/michael-anthony-78-signature-bass-pickups-detail I had this in my p bass and it has heaps of output. It can really drive the front end of an amp and I can see why MA uses these into a valve rig! Most of my gigging required a more subtle approach so I've gone back to a more vintage voiced pick up. The 78 MA worked really well in a three piece with heavy guitar (sits nicely with heavier, scooped guitar tones due to the nice solid lows and mids) and provides an upfront, strident tone. Ultimately the vintage voicing works better for me and my current gigs hence the sale. What do you get? The pick up comes boxed with a high quality, pre-wired, solder-less harness which features two CTS 250k pots, .068 orange drop cap and a Neutrik jack. The work on the harness is immaculate. The pick ups are fitted to a brass base plate and are exact recreations of the original '78 Monster tone pick up. There's some fancy engraving on the base plate too which is a nice touch and further evidence of Schecter's attention to detail. The Schecter Custom Shop know how to do it right and deserve their reputation! Ou The pick up does not come with any covers - I ditched the fixing screws as they were a bit longer than the ones I was already using, I just used my existing screws and coves. **Note I measured the output at 12.5k ohms**
  19. Fine choice! And if you're doing studio recordings whack some of the dbx on your acoustic instruments mic too. Solid unit!
  20. I heard demo’s of the Dan Lutz model when Carey did a video. I suggest folks check it out before speculating on what it’s issues are. It’s a fine sounding bass and doesn’t suffer phase issues etc and it’s super responsive -hand placement making a difference etc all the stuff folks extol the virtues of on bass forums. I’d take a DL VM5 if Carey wanted to give me one and happily use it as my only bass! It sounds I agree with the idea of if you want a MM get a MM, if you want a p get a p etc. I had a thunderbird pick up in my p bass and it sounded great but it’s not a p bass sound. I’ve put a (reverse) p back into that bass and it sounds more traditional. Actually I could put a Bigman with three way switch into my p bass down the line 🤔 Oh and check out the Bigman demo where the coils can be split with bridge coil, mm, neck coil. Interesting the tonal difference from the one pick up.
  21. I'm doing some home brewing today and while it's usually some reggae and other stuff from the Soul Jazz records Spotify page today has been all about the new Young Gun Silver Fox album, Daft Punk and Justice. Got a new mini portable speaker and have been giving it a workout. Enjoyable!
  22. I've just been learning some LSD for a dep gig - You Go Down Smooth - catchy tune!
