1. These guys are great and would be a real treat for a drummer to play with.
2. One of my bucket list basses. I hate being left handed.
3. I am reading a theory book at the moment which states that detached is staccato.
4. I have been watching them avidly. Great personality and player.
5. I loved listening to your performances on YouTube. Fantastic.
6. My Wal restoration project has taken an interesting turn. robertson birdseye by John Robertson, on Flickr
7. I gave this bass serious thought but the fretless to fretted conversion put me off.
8. I have this amp and thought this video was a particularly poor demonstration where they didn't seem to understands the basics of its controls and operations. It seemed to me to be just random noodling and sweeping of the controls.
9. This was a great watch. Such an incredible musician. He inspired me to spend the day playing piano.
10. Never be a cog in someone else's machine. If you are a bass player in a band make sure to get involved in songwriting otherwise when the record deal comes around you suddenly become hired help and not on the contract.
11. Here's my Wal packed up ready to ship back for a refinish and service after 28 years of hard playing. It was originally all black and I had it stripped in the 90s. I can't wait to have it back to its former glory.
12. Everything about them looks good and at a reasonable price. However, I just could not live with the headstock with or without the name of one of my favourite bass players on it.
13. Have you raised your pickups recently? I had similar intonation issues with my bass which was resolved by lowering the pickups slightly.
14. I am sending my Wal back for a service and need a courier who can insure to full value if anyone has any recommendations. I did try UPS who claim to insure packages up to £5K but the small print excludes guitars which can only be insured up to a maximum of £1K. Thanks John
15. I have the 210 and it is my 'forever' cab. Small, light, loud and beautifully made.
16. You won't regret it. I have two pairs as well as both the 17 and 15 filters so all bases are covered. I could not play without them now.
17. There are two variants of their Adam Nitti bass. There is an 'affordable' one and then the gold plated, you can't bend it, showcase model. I am signed up for Adam's online lessons and they are superb. He is a great player and also a great teacher which isn't always the case with great teachers.
18. I wouldn't have bought one if it had a tuner built in. Now a cup holder would be a different matter. Tuning needs are well taken care of.
19. Here's mine sitting on top of my Vanderkley MNT210. It all sounds glorious with my Wal. Note how low the master volume is and that's with the amp set at 2ohms. 20. I have just had a proper play with my Wal through a Vanderkley cab and the sound of the Darkglass is superb. Smiles all round. I solved my sticking gain knob. Although it was clearing the faceplate it appears to have been rubbing against the bolt underneath. I slid a plastic card under and rotated the knob a few times which seems to have fixed it.
21. Mine isn't marked in any way and does not appear to be rubbing against the faceplate. It is just sticky.
22. Funny you mention that as my gain knob is very sticky/resistant for the first third of the travel.
23. I expect mine to arrive at 12.30. I work from home so obviously will leave the box unopened until 5.30.
24. Same here. It feels like Xmas eve when you are 6 years old.
