1. received my Fdeck preamp from Caeman over on Talkbass today, heres a little review. First off I like the size o f this, much smaller and lighter than the Pro Plat from Fishman, housed in a diecast aluminium case with volume and high pass filter at one end, with phase switch squeezed in between. .Input and output jacks at the opposite end(plastic mounted , not metal). Good so far.. Using a standard Boss adaptor instead of battery for power the HPF is easy to set up. Leaving the high pass fully CW (MAXIMUM PASS) the phase switch effectively handles feedback as you would expect, Volume on max shows the unit to have much less output than the Fishman, To get comparable vol from the Fishman it had to be set with all graphic sliders flat, gain on max and volume at about 9.30, this may be a good thing as it probably has more comparable level to a passive bass guitar direct to amp. I never realised how much gain boost the Fishman is capable of. The HPF is totally silent in use and the highpass filter seems to work equally well as the Fishman, if not better. I like the fact that theres no graphic to mess with on this, more controls = more fiddling about, thats the reason I got one. The sound is slightly more "open" but I cant say that it shows the Fishman as colouring the sound, as it gets accused of over on Talkbass. Will I miss the extra gain of the Pro Plat on a gig? Have to wait and see, as this was done at home but I know my amp has enough power to cope. i found the filter to work best at around the mid point of its sweep of 35-140hz. Pick up on my bass is a Rev Solo into a Mesa Walkabout . No gigs for a while but will update when played in anger at next rehearsal. BTW it took about 4 weeks to arrive from the day Caeman ordered it ($123 covered the HPF + POSTAGE)
2. i think my performance may have been compromised by excessive hayfever medication swilled down with excessive alcohol🍹🍷🍸🍷🍺

8. Number one would be an Ovation magnum , to play some Magazine on. no. 2 , a 51 precision , thats where it began.
9.
£2.29 if just using the combo, £2.58 if using the combo with ext cab.
thus saving money when buying the extension
10. £4.33/watt I only use about one third so I reckon I ll go and get a refund now I know what theyre worth
11. Tex Speed Combo , just rockabilly
12.
Good man
And then youll need to cut the the lawn, so buy some guts and save the hassle of all that string swapping.
13. You can tell if Rockabilly is for you by listening to the Johnny Burnette Trio. If you dig it then your a Cat, if you dont ,your a square , ( you gotta learn the lingo as well as the notes)
14. If Bill's your thang try Louis Jordan.
15. #11 Give your kids names that will make them outcasts Zowie Moon Unit North trixabelle ? Frogmella etc.
16.
It depends. Sometimes I focus on the lyrics and sometimes the music hits me harder. Been listening to lots of Johnny Cash recently; this one's a good'un. Long Black Veil: Ten years ago on a cold dark night Someone was killed 'neath the town hall lights There were few at the scene, but they all agreed That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me Now she walks these hills, in a long black veil She visits my grave, when the night winds wail Nobody knows, nobody sees Nobody knows, but me The scaffold is high, and eternity's near She stood in the crowd, and shed not a tear But some times at night, when the cold wind moans In a long black veil, she cries over my bones Now she walks these hills, in a long black veil She visits my grave, when the night winds wail Nobody knows, nobody sees Nobody knows, but me The judge said son, what is your alibi If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die I spoke not a word, though it meant my life I'd been in the arms of my best friends wife Truckstop
not heard JCs version , but check the Lefty Frizell original,... and heres me saying lyrics dont matter..
17.
If there are words and you can hear what they are, then IMO they have to eloquent and entertaining. One of the reasons I got so heavily into Japanese bands is because I couldn't understand what they were singing about I wasn't being put off by crass lyrics that for me were spoiling my enjoyment of much of the music I heard coming from the UK and US. Of course these days I play in a band that has songs with titles such as "Attack Of The 50ft Frankenbride", "SuperMonster Monster" and "Love Me Tendons, Love Me Goo". The subject matter might be somewhat silly and rude, but the construction of the actual lyrics is always interesting and clever.
Can I join your band ??
18. ive tried this many times without success, Nady , Samson , Senheisser, messed with piezo signal too much causing even more feedback than you expect from a piezo...... Line 6 G30 .... perfect Ive recommended this so many times with puezos, and Im sure theres one in "for sale "
19. double bass strings any use to you ?
20.
So you wouldn't allow .5 inches? Or allow engineering draftsmen to specify measurements in thousands of an inch? Decimals and metric aren't the same, they are both an unholy alliance but by different devils.
I am an engineer , thats why I nearly choked on my Pino Grog when I read it. but yes its not as straight forward as my initial outburst may suggest
21.
I'm trying to set up a bass this evening and the manufacturer's website says they usually allow "about a the depth of business card "of relief in the neck . I don't have any business cards on hand , and wondered if anybody knows how much that translates to in fractions of a millimeter , as I do have a precision ruler .
no no no no no..... you can't have fractions of a millimetre.. fractions are related to Imperial measurement ie 1/4" etc, millimetres are metric so you MUST use a decimal point such as 0.5 Phew
22. wheels are in motion ..
