Hi. Where are you based please? Thanks, Bob
2. Yes, both Finns, one headed and one headless (of course!). Both have leds on the side of the neck, and the red ones in the headless Finn look great with the blue body. I believe the fingerboard in the headed Finn is called Lava Bubinga, or something like that. This one has a piezo pickup in the bridge as well as the normal pick up, with one of the filter knobs controlling it. The headless has an East retro, which I admit to finding easier to control. Both are lovely, as is the tulipwood faced bodied Recurve Graft I have, which for some reason I cant find a picture of. The blue body looks a lot better in real life, as Alans pictures came out a bit darker than reality. It has a hint of green in it, which I like. The Finn is far and away my favourite ACG body shape, and really comfy for me, as a lifelong salad dodger to play. Bob
3. A couple of my ladies. I also have a recurve Graft which I love......
4. Had the gig from hell in a local (new) village hall a couple of years ago, where 2 of us had to face the wall behind us, away from the audience, to stop some of the feedback, whilst the pa was as quiet as t would go. The induction loop was to blame, so we said we wouldnt ever do a gig there again. Fast forward to last year, and we were asked to gig there again. After we refused because of the loop, we were told it was easy to turn it off, just pull the plug out! It worked and the gig was great........
5. Tom. Master packer, purveyor of fine basses, and a great guy to boot. All that could improve the deal would be Green Shield stamps......
6. Might be selling a 2024x soon? I have 2 identical 2024x's (both white), but one is just a gigging spare, which seems such a shame as its never used. Would be about £1400? Bob
7. I imported a new Peavey Cirrus bass from the States a few years ago, at a huge cost saving, and when it arrived, it had splits in the laquer and wood below. It was obviously factory fresh and sealed up, so I contacted Peavey over there to ask them what I could do. They said to send it to Peavey UK, who then arranged for a new one to be sent to me in replacement. I have nothing but good things to say about Peavey, who have also been unbelievably helpful with another couple of problems I have had over the years, and bent over backwards to do their best for me.
8. Got a lovely Maruszczyk Elwood bass in baby pink from my wife. Just what I wanted (well, I did choose the spec.....)!
9. I still cant really understand why they have reviewed Hiwatt amps two months on the trot, and gave their practice amp last month top marks when it was heavier than any combo I have ever owned with only 150w output? I agree everything else has been very readable recently, and I will continue to subscribe (have done so since the first edition), when I was seriously thinking about giving it up.
10. Played at a Christmas Party for a really big international company on Saturday. Superb venue, fantastic food (7 different types of curry!), cheap bar, coaches provided for the attendees, my band (!), what more could you want? Not a lot I'm sure, but the organizer had loads of trouble selling tickets, because, get this, the company had the cheek to ask their employees for a £5 contribution towards the cost (thats for everything, food, dance, coach, raffle, etc)! The Union rep even got involved and tried to get management to pay those that werent going the equivalent cost of the subsidized part of the ticket each. What the hell is wrong with people nowadays? For those that went, it was a great night though.......
11. Not yet under the bed because its full of Christmas presents there type bump.........
12. Hi Jim. I have taken the driver out, and its an Eminence C2515 Basslite neodymium. Robbie was correct! Cheers, Bob
13. Hi Jim. I will try to have a look at the weekend inbetween gigs. Its certainly a neo though! Cheers, Bob
14. I cant find any feedback for Sam, but would like to say that I have just bought a P bass off him, and the deal couldnt have been more pleasant. The bass was exactly as described, arrived in packaging that would keep it sake from any known weapons and communications were excellent. Thanks Sam! Bob
15. Hi. I have to admit to not being 100% sure, but as far as I know, it has an Eminence driver fitted. I got it from Robbie (RIM) on this very forum who may be able to shed some light on it? Cheers, Bob
16. Pretty much as new, lightly gigged DR BASS 1580 cab and Roqsolid cover. You dont see many of these around, mainly because of, shall we say, supply problems, but I can honestly say that this is one of the best, reasonably priced cabs I have ever heard. I didnt really want to sell, but I now use an Accugroove El Whappo Jnr which means I dont really have a use for her. Its light (neodymium speakers), has a fully adjustable mid range and tweeter, the 15" main is very deep and fruity, and is in very good condition. Ithas a Roqsolid cover, and I have reduced the price again to what I think is rock bottom, NOW SOLD. Collection is obviously preferred, but I'm sure we could work something out for delivery. Specs from the web site: 400 watts RMS Neo 1x15, 8" mid w/horn 3-way X-over w/ mid and HF level control 40hz to 20khz 102 dB 1W1M 4 ohms 24.25"h x 20.75"w x 17.5"d 52 lbs. 17. Just bought an Ampeg Portaflex rig from Mark, and it couldnt have been a better, faster or more pleasant transaction in any way. Cheers! Bob
