1. Excuse my dumbness, but how can you tell it's a Squier and not a Fender, when it says Fender on the headstock and the photos don't really show you much?
 2. I gigged for a year with my Affinity P - only to replace it with the CV Jazz. I have nothing but good things to say about Squier.
 3. I've never liked the sound of rounds. It's flat all the way for me.
 4. I'd be surprised if that was an accident in the gig bag that did that. Had that been cracked while carrying the bag I'd expect the wood to have been damaged and the key to be bent. And it would be unusual for only the third tuner to be caught. Don't write off gig bags just yet.
 5.
Bargin of the month
Absolutely - had I not already got one, and was using it as my gigging bass and been extremely happy with it, I'd have been on this like a shot. I paid £300, they're about £350 new now. This is a cracking bargain for anyone wanting to try these brilliant basses.
 6.
I dont realy understand whats so special about it
+2
 7. I liked his statement that: "Condition all round is very nice for a used guitar; though you can see that the jack plug corner of the guitar has been thumped on the corner of a 4 by 12 speaker cabinet at some time." How the f*** does HE know that it was a speaker cabinet it was knocked against - never mind the number and size of speakers inside it?
 8. Okay - I've found the flaw in my post-it notes on the fretboard idea: you can't see them while you're playing
 9. I played cow bell in an open rehearsal - next day I got a call asking if I wanted to replace the bassist. Next rehearsal I picked up a bass for the first time in my life.
 10.
As per title. I always break them - chuck them in the gym bag and they get abused, sweated, sauna'd and steamed - so no point getting HI-FI. ta!
I'd be interested too. Next time I had to remember to strengthen where the wires joins the jack plug - that's always where I break them at the gym when I put the mp3 player in a pocket in my shorts, it gets too much bending.
 11. "Never played, still has tag attached to neck of bass." Strikes me as a bit fishy - especially with that ridiculously cheap knockdown price. Might be stolen goods.
 12.
Someone on Talkbass did just that - the pine was literally just a lump of scrap timber, no attempt made to make it 'guitar-shaped' and posted sound samples. Result: some folk couldn't tell the difference, some could, but those that could guessed wrong 50% of the time.
True that - and to take another tack - just because they'd sound different doesn't mean that it's the type of wood used. A better test would be to take a basic body and add new pickups, new strings and a new bridge and see if THAT sounds different - and see if it's MORE different than the difference between the oak / alder bodies with the same equipment attached. Then ask yourself if you should take wood into account as anything other than i) a solid base on which to attach the things that make the noise and ii) to look nice. Anything else is snake oil.
 13.
Your right, they were a bit too aggressive in the low mids for me. The 74's are a bit more open, a bit more up top but still with the punch of the 84's. The Bass is quite warm sounding IMO. Warmer than any other Jazz bass ive owned. I dont really like its tone as much as Jazz basses ive had in the past but i keep it because i have its neck on my CV P, plus its nice having one of each.
Any idea what the 64s would sound like?
 14.
There are some, good, genuinely authentic looking relic´s out there, although thre are far more bad úns, how about this one, without doubt the worst i´ve seen, some people have genuinly missed the point about what a relic look is supposed to replicate; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Squier-Af...=item2c5e604272
Ha - I love what he says about it: "This is a really cool Worn Relic Fender Squier Affinity Standard neck! Off a 2002 Standard Squier this neck is in great condition and has a custom Relic job done by a local luthier. FULLY LOADED!" Fully loaded with what??!? Loaded with mojo? Loaded with frets and a nut? It's just the neck - no tuners, no strings, no body, no sense? (EDIT: I tell a lie, it does come with tuners) It looks awful. The "local luthier" should be ashamed of him or her self. At least they're only asking £60 for the neck though, not £1300 like that ridiculous Strat guy.
 15.
ha ha ha !!!....ohhhh i must get my eyes tested again...for a moment i thought the add said £1300!!!!??? ...that'd just be crazy!!!!.....
Good grief - he's added an extra £400 to the buy it now price!
 16.
On here - http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/fs-warw...2/#post11265506 Part number 007-7335-000, bottom right
I think you put the wrong link up there Unless I'm missing something
 17. Id say you should take the pre out - if it's still humming you know for definite that the pre-amp isn't the source of the problem, if not, it is the preamp. Then, get someone else (who's not going to charge extra) to reinstall the pre-amp to make sure that you didn't do something wrong when you put it in. If it's still humming when put back in, you have a case of asking Audere not only to replace the pre or give you a full refund, but also contribute to the section of the bill that was checking the wiring (the shielding you probably ought to swallow yourself)
 18.
Please god, I cannot take anymore of this. Why would you do this, and even worse, why would you buy it?
More importantly, why would you buy it for over £900! Trouble is that some numpty WILL.
 19. I'm so tempted - this is a great price - the hard case too is making it even more alluring, but the only reason I could justify a 3rd bass would be as an excuse to start dismantling and personalising my Affinity P-bass.
 20. I don't want to derail the thread, but can I ask where you got the bridge cover to fit over the hi-mass bridge? I'd quite like covers for my CV Jazz, but I've found none that fits over the large bridge they've used.
 21.
Why is it listed as a *strat* and why no pictures of the front face of the headstock??
There's one - and it does appear to say "Fender Stratocaster" on the head. But, let's face it. No guitar is ever going to look like that, no matter how much you chuck it about. It looks ridiculously artificial.
 22.
I cringe when I have seen people popping their lead out without muting it, and hear my amp making all sorts of buzzing and crackling

I'm quite lucky in that they remember not to absent mindedly pull the lead out at the end
Okay I'm going to bite (and feel stupid). What dreadful thing would I do to my combo if I pull the lead out without turning the volume down?
 23.
Has anyone seen a relic which looks good in the flesh?? I think the Fender Custom Shop/Masterbuilt stuff looks fine but everything else is just overboard, in need of a paint job or really fake like the roadworn series (despite sounding lovely). I did use to think Nash's/Bravewood's were fantastically accurate till I owned one (again sounded lovely). Look at this dog's dinner: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-axes-fie...=item1c1d55c937 Lot of homespun 'relic'ing' businesses on the rise now
I find it odd that people pay over the odds for something that looks like it's been left in a tumble dryer full of rocks for a week but will demand massive reductions for a tiny ding in an otherwise perfect paintjob. Relicing is something I find utter madness. If you want a guitar that looks 40 years old, buy an unfashionable 40 year old model replace the pickups and you've got a guitar as good as this one at a fraction of the cost.
 24. Why not just do two squares a night. You don't have the entire job staring at you and it'll be finished in a month or so.
