  1. No, luckily guitarist is a capable singer too so he does all backing vocals. I just get to swag about with my pink Yamaha 😉
  2. Those days are long gone - was a ‘singer’ for a few years...
  3. Thanks mate - I think if I’m honest, the last time I did a gig where the bass “took the lead”, the singer I had with me made a fuss over everything I did.... ”and on the bass...Mr Andy Travis!!!” “Check out that bass line!!!” ”watch out for the bass on this” She did the same for anything the Guitarist did too - we would of sacked her, but it was his Mrs. It was really cringeworthy - put me right off being showy. Now I’ve landed myself right in the middle of Blood Sugar Sex Magic territory type bass parts...totally unfashionable, but Was solely doing it for a laugh. As you mentioned before - since the new drummer has come along, things have gathered pace and actually sounds really good - so it’s got more serious!
  4. I haven’t enjoyed gigging for a while - well, I haven’t gigged in a while... But, prior to the Hiatus (while we got used to our youngest Daughter and her level of need - a very bleak prognosis has actually ended up much better than hoped; odd heart attack inducing trips to hospital every now and then) I hadn’t enjoyed the covers/function/wedding gigs I had done. So, on the 18th of August, the new band has a gig. All songs are from ideas I provided to the singer (I’d been in a Motown band with this guy until i “quit” music). It’s all really bass heavy, really funky...and after a second studio session yesterday, I’m kicking myself for writing such mad baselines. I now have “i’ll F*ck this gig up” in my head... A weird mental block to have as I’ve played big festivals, big venues all over the show in the past...I suppose it’s because it’s heart on sleeve time - and it’s all so oriented on the bass...
  5. Was just about to post...”Gibson RD?”
  6. Esp stream Esp Phoenix Schecter Ultra Bass Spector USA Rex bass
  7. Brandoni in London had/have shed loads of old vox and Eko bits - so with yours being a P pickup only and no headstock logo... Might be a Brandoni Eko. think they bought a load of bankruptcy stock or something.
  8. I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money... but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for unidentifiable basses... I’m useless at pretty much anything else.

  10. Eko (bx7 - I think)
  11. Messing with wah’s in the studio today. not for me - much prefer autowah/envelope filters. this was a very nice one but didn’t sound right. back to the drawing board. FA783A7E-1200-493C-93E9-60C56078AC73.MP4
  12. Weirdly there was a body for sale on Facebook - they only did black ones with maple boards and rosewood on the burst and white ones. wonder if it’s the same seller and they’ve done a neck swap. was sorely tempted by the body loved the second version of these.
  13. Need to sort one of these again...this is close and lovely...but I’m skint atm.
  14. I’m sure it’s already been said, but you could buy a tasty 77/78/79 precision in black for about £1400/£1500 and a nice mirror pickguard for about £50 (Fender had them as spares when they made the Steve Harris...) and then have a nice holiday. And a new car...
  15. Dad’s having a clearout. Guess which pictures he’s posting all over Facebook 😂
  16. Damon Chivers who works for Fender is always looking - he’s pretty active on Facebook, but not sure what he’s after.
  17. Think this is what I needed to see
  18. Should be able to get somewhere with the EMG website. thanks though @KiOgon
  19. Lovely - this is the solderless kit - and it’s effectively a telecaster setup. neck/bridge pickups, 3 way selector and master vol/tone
  20. How do. recently been using a Yamaha Attitude Standard pair, nice basses, using them exclusively. I have 2 exactly the same and fancy putting some EMG p/j’s I have in another project bass in the pink one which has a knackered volume pot. so. i’ve bought an EMG telecaster 3 way switch - I’m hoping it’s all pretty straightforward. the p/j set comes with VVT pots, so in theory I should be wiring this as per the telecaster diagram, p pickup to “neck” j pickup to bridge, wire from switch to 1 volume pot, link the volume to tone pot and to jack... and have one volume pot left over. does that sound right? any thoughts/help appreciated
  21. @Baceface I sold the 614, looking back on the pictures I wish I hadn’t. But sound wise I preferred my (now famous) 414. don’t change the tuners, don’t change the bridge - and the preamp used correctly is absolutely fine. it’s a typical low/mid price bracket OEM preamp, nothing spectacular but functional.
  22. Shell... the 424/1024/2024x pickguard 100% fits the 614
