1. I'm going to go with Fretmeister A: 15 B: 12 C: 10
2. I'm genuinely saddened by this news. His playing had a major influence on me, he was probably the first bass player I actually sat up to actually listen to. As madshadows said, what a player he was. RIP
3. I can't find anything in the media, anywhere, about this.
4.
Are they both GAS ?
You forgot your coat
5.
It's a secret. I've been waiting for Fender to make something similar for years, but it shows no signs of happening. I'm guessing it would have cost the far side of three grand if I'd gone to the Custom Shop, and I still wouldn't have been able to specify everything to the nth degree like I've been able to with Adrian. As it stands, it's going to be hand-built with top-drawer bits, and it's going to cost less than a Lakland Skyline. Incredible. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but I'm SO excited...
Obligatory New Bass Day thread of course...your other option is death by Basschat firing squad if you don't Less than the coast of a Skyline is remarkable. If they're as good as their reputation online, and I've no reason to doubt they aren't, then larger manufacturers seriously need to sit up and pay attention. The smaller guys seem to be producing great products without the benefits of economy of scale. I wish I hadn't seen their website actually, I need a p bass now
6. There seem to be plenty of covers bands and there are always places to play. Whether you can get any money out of venues is another matter. The guitarist in my band and myself have become somewhat disillusioned with the whole covers thing. We're not enjoying the songs we're going to have to play to get booked...so we're going to be an originals band instead (fingers crossed, hopefully etc).
7. My band used to play it. It's a song I loathe so I didn't even bother to try and emulate the proper bass line in any way shape or form. My guitarist and I usually share similar tastes in music but this is one song we really disagree on, he thinks it's great. Just hold out and give dodgy excuses that you haven't found a script for it, or your music library is corrupted, you haven't got it on CD, you haven't got speakers on your computer at the moment....anything to prevent the pain of having to play it
8. It might be best to contact Barefaced themselves.
9. ....and put the ad in the for sale section
10.
This. Probably... Interestingly, back in the day when I had the archetypal Trace Elliot "stack" (1048 and 1518) I used to prefer the sound with the 4x10 on the bottom and the 1x15 on top. Both cabs were the same width and depth so it made no difference to their "stackability", but it did affect the sound (to my ears, standing right in front of it). Ironically, the 1x15 had more definition and more top end than the 4x10! To the OP - they are your cabs, put them however they sound/look/feel best. If you've got long speaker cables, try one on each side of the stage!
There's no reason why the 115 wouldn't have more top end than the 410. Billy Sheehan purposely uses 15's to run only top end and 410's for lows. That big neck pickup on his bass just runs through the 410's he uses. What I've never been able to figure out is, if the traditional given is smaller speakers for high and top end, why do guitarists use 12's?
11.
I'm totally the other way at the moment... Walked around the London bass guitar show and despite loads of wonderful gear on show none of it interested me more than my current setup What's wrong with me... GAS has temporarily forsaken me....
People without GAS have no place on this forum, pull yourself together.
12. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of joining a band that had a dictator. Work is bad enough, i don't need it outside work.
13.
I don't think most clubs I play would allow me to perform wearing a strap on. Blue
Suppose it would depend how high you have your bass :/
14.
I'd probably replace the signed plate & keep it safe for if & when the day comes to part with it. G.
Thanks Geoff, I'm going to order a new plate and do exactly that. Something I didn't think of. Cheers
15.
I think you'll maybe find that the three notes didn't 'sound a bit like' He's So Fine by The Chiffons - they were in fact the same three notes. The song that Harrison actually had in mind was Oh Happy Day by the Edwin Hawkins SIngers I believe after the court case Harrison bought the rights to He's So Fine.
He tried to at least. The whole case apparently took until 1998 to be settled in full.
16.

I told you not to listen to that Noel Gallagher album, I said it would do you no good
17. I heard a great story told by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. He was in the studio, thought he'd come up with this great new idea for a song. He played it to everyone else present, who all turned and said...that's Fame by David Bowie. As far as I remember it's melodies that hold copyright, nothing else. Beaten to it
18. The red burst Elwood and Jake models look really rather tasty. But I've spent all my bass tokens
19. A very positive review from Ed Friedland, and he's reviewed enough basses to know. Seems to be a winner to me, even if one were to buy a new one of these basses.
20. It'd be interesting to find out prices to the Uk as there's no outlet here.
21. ...as well having his male appendage firmly planted on his forehead he also seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder. http://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/oct/18/noel-gallagher-fiction-waste-time
22.
I like Noel, he's an intelligent geezer. But he's in danger of becoming a parody of himself if he carries on like this. He needs a change of pace.
He's nowhere near a parody of himself because he is, and always has been, an arse. He's one of the mascots of the Zoo and Nuts magazine yob/lad culture of don't read books and don't learn anything that might open your eyes to a different way of thinking. He's the sort of person that seems to want to keep those who are from his background where they are and not bother trying to achieve.
23. A dreadfully written piece that misses one fundamental point...record companies are businesses, businesses that seek to make money like all other businesses. They're not philanthropic charitable organisations there for the whim miserable musos who want more of 'their sort of music' being signed. Record companies are signing acts that sell downloads and cds. Fans of other music don't buy music they download for free...why would a record company bother signing any of those acts?
