3.
Why go for 'valve sounding' when you can get one with a real valve in it Use what the pros use: A-Designs Reddi - expensive but supposed to be the best there is! I know a serious touring pro & session musician who swears by these There's lots of info about them online but here's the first video review I found: Of course, you know who's going to be stocking these soon. . . Our very own Borntobemild from BassGear
This would be ideal for what you've described . Also the groove tubes brick might do what you're looking for a bit cheaper, you see them for 200-250 used.

 5.
After two years of being unfavorably compared to the previous guy I'm out. There were plenty of good times but the spector of *previous guy* never completely went away. Just had the call, basically they've been finishing off recordings made by the previous line up and it's become obvious to the rest of them that I don't play like that. the rest of the band wanted low rumbling grooves, I play more up-front melodic parts.
Over 2 years to finish off recordings ? further proof ,you're better off out of it i reckon.
 6. Can recommend ! Antoine bought a bass from me ,there was a mix-up with the shipping company which meant the bass was delayed by a week (!) but he remained patient and a gent throughout , many thanks Antoine
 7.
Anyone own a mk1 fretless Wal, seen one for sale for £1500 I am pretty sure they are passive?
the only passive ones produced were the pro series with scratchplate or a musicman type control plate . mk1's were all active (except for the odd custom order) Good choices you've got ,surely if you have enough for a Wal you could get a stingray and franklin p for same money I think maybe the players you mention would probably all sound pretty much like "themselves" whatever fretless bass they played ?
 8.
bit short on pictures of any important details...so while the pickup looks about the right shape, what's on the front of the headstock?
It's a roadie model i think ,so probably black headstock (?)
 9. It's a lovely bass but this is the tempting bit. . . "To day a nobody next week on your way to a life of stardom."

 11.
that is.... Sterling Ball
Oh right, never saw him before!!! To be honest can't see the point of your post other than to wind up the op? Is it not dodgy legally ,the claim you're making with the Sterling Ball drinking thing too?
 12.
I don't want to drag any names into the mud.
Think almost everyone else already has! Sorry to hear all the trouble you had with this, but i'm confused ,or maybe i missed something. You bought the bass from bass merchant (?) so surely strings and things (and ebmm)aren't actually obliged to deal with you ? Surely your only "contract" (or whatever the term is as a consumer),is with the bass merchant alone ? Or have i got it wrong . Hope you get the problems sorted looks like you're close to that now.
 13.
.... yet somewhere in S. Louis Obisbo this man is having a right lark, drinking like it's going out of fashion, it makes me angry...
WTF?! Who "is" it?
 14.
S'pose... Edit: I wasn't suggesting it was a Shergold, just that it looked a bit like one... This is making it worse, isn't it? I'll get me coat.
I think the companies burns, watkins and hayman were all influences on shergold and wal.
