1. Only bought this at the beginning of the week from Doctorbass here- http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=aguilar i was looking to use it for recording only but it's more of a gigging pre-amp imho...It is brilliant though and all the functions are very useable. The treble control sounds like it maybe needs a clean otherwise totally as described in Doctor B's thread. If i was gigging i'd definitely be using one of these! i've had good fun trying it and a/b ing it with another piece i have so i'll cut my losses on the fuel i used goin to pick it up so same price £600 or £620 with the rack case.no offers ,is a BARGAIN!!! Not really looking for trades.Wouldn't really want to ship it.I'm in the n.west uk/n.e. wales area Pete
 2. Sorry to hear about that Geoff ,gimme a shout if you're still stuck ,only got 4 string though. Pete

 4.
Do we really need an excuse to have a bit of a joke in these times of doom and gloom? No offence mate but lighten up a bit. We're not exactly having a dig at the guy are we?
mmm
 5.
If you think this is harsh you wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes where i was a dragged up.
You implying i'm a bit of a wuss or somethin?? Nothin to do with where you're brought up really is it? I was assuming it was a new member who'd not figured out the site/new to internet an made a mistake......but if you all know him /whatever go for it....will let y'all know if i see someone slip on a banana skin or somethin so you can laugh your balls off at that.
 6.
just harmless fun
That would depend on how the victim of the "joke" feels about it wouldn't it??
 7. Bit harsh all this innit ???
 8.
On the topic of musicians in church worship teams being quite adept at being in a band situation, there is a key difference between the average band and the average worship team that contributes towards this.
What does that mean? What's a worship team?
 9.
Can anyone suggest some more contemporary, non-gospel religious music to check out? It'll have to be on youtube - no way am I buying this stuff! Its a short step from there to buying a ranch in Waco.
10.
It strikes me that both secular (especially political) and religious songs fall into two camps. There are those that are very up front with their message, right from the first line it's "BLAM this is what I've got to say and you're going to feckin well know it", a lyrical message you couldn't miss if you tried. And then there are . The sort of song where you don't even know you're listening to a political or religious message until you think about it afterwards.
Don't forget to include the alleged "backwards messages in songs " type too!!!Remember those?!Judas Priest,Rush etc. I suppose it's down to interpretation unless the writer of the song confirms it though......Like i thought the posts by the author of this topic, especially the second one about teenagers being safer at christian rock gigs could be seen as a subtle way of "spreading the word"/recruiting ,but he's confirmed it wasn't.... Johngh has the right approach about it imo. No need to stuff it down ppl's throats.........(no sexual pun responses plz! )
 11. No you don't need to apologise,i'm just a bit confused by your post. It's great that you've found something obviously special to you,why not start a christian bassists sub forum thing going on here? I edited this post incase it seemed patronising or inflammatory which is not my intent.(and just in case the baby jesus reading it of course! ) Good luck with it
No, not at all and apologies if it sounds that way. I just went along, enjoyed it and wondered if any other bass players either attended or were involved in similar events around the country.
12.
A majority of Christian Rock music is dull and predictable, it just serves as a basis to preach in a more accessible form to younger people. It's sugar coated chorus friendly to bring the masses in.
I wasn't trying to define the style of music ,or what is/isn't good music ,my point was that if it didn't have the religious associations, they wouldn't be reacting to it in that way. I find it hard to believe their enjoyment is primarily the music 1st and then the lyrics/message 2nd. Obviously i can't speak for them .
 13.
Wow, I didn't expect to log on tonight and find three pages of comments !! I can only speak it as I see and experience it. I was VERY sceptical on my first visit but just really enjoyed the whole evening of music, singing and message ( and when I say sceptical I really mean it as I would never have envisaged myself in church for anything more than the traditional weddings, funerals etc ) My children ( 7, 8 and 11 ) loved the children's classes and are delighted every Sunday when I ask them if they want to go again. Everyone I have met has been very nice and friendly. The band, singers and music are superb. I grew up as a teenager in the seventies when life was pretty different to how it is now and as my children grow that bit older I will have to try to guide them in the right direction to ensure that they have the best start in life. From what I saw of the huge numbers of teenagers at the ALC all having a brilliant time singing etc and from what I have researched since then this is certainly a place that I would feel safe if they wanted to attend. Tony
Forgive me if i seem cynical, but Is this definitely not a promo/spread the word exercise for you?
 14.
I don't know where ALC is in Bradford, but I have a Christian friend who was invited to fill in on keyboards for a group playing at a fairly deshelved-looking church in the centre of Bradford. Half the band were American, and I must admit they were professional and talented musicians. Indeed it was one of those 'sing-a-long' things, where they projected the lyrics of the song onto a screen above the band, and I was amazed to see all these people in the church dancing around and clapping their hands. It was evident though, that they were enjoying the music because it was good music (sounded just as good in rehearsal to me), not because of anything else (but being an Atheist I would say that, wouldn't I?).
I disagree. I don't believe they'd behave in that way to just any good music ? Only music which reinforces or that's associated with their beliefs ...imho

 16. Hi after putting some heavier strings on the other day ,i removed the truss rod cover to give the neck a tweak,to find that a previous owner has rounded the truss rod nut unfortunately,so until i get it sorted think is only fair to withdraw it from sale. In one way i wish i'd not changed the strings (never had cover off it before)but i think is probably good job i discovered it. if can be sorted(?)an i put it back up will let you know, never had this problem before just hope haven't got to have fingerboard off! The set-up is ok on it,i just wouldn't want to sell it on without the truss rod working properely(especially if is an expensive fix!) Pete
 17. I've shipped with fedex and ups to usa and they'll both insure up to £2500 ,but obviously it affects the price.Never used parcelforce, heard not very good reports about them. And if it's the bass i think it is keep the strings on and at concert. The hornbeam laminates are more liable to give problems if you get a back bow than vice versa. Just fix a few layers of bubble wrap onto and right around the harcase ,then get a box or make your own around it.
no i dont think musical instruments can be insured for any more than £150, full stop. You can't buy any additional insurance. Well you can, but it would be a complete waste of money when it came to claiming, as they would only give you a max of £150, and thats only when its in a hardcase AND has a thick box around it
18. So did you buy it with the graphite neck already with it? Or did you buy the status neck afterwards?
yes
19. Is the wooden neck the original neck for the bass?
okay, rethink iv kinda gone off the bass i was looking at, couple of things about it iv decided i didnt like, and i cant spend this kinda money unless im 100% happy with the bass (FYI it was a 1986 vigier passion series 2(?), one of the first ever built 0025) its still for sale kinda, but i'm gunna give it a good play over the weekend and such, and il probably end up keeping it, il better myself as a player and start using that B. The tone and otherwise playability of this superb instrument is worth that
20. I was gonna ask the same question cos i've got these same strings on my chris larkin bass and i love em!!But dont know what they are. i thought they might be ernie balls but only basing on the fact that i have never tried them.Have never had Warwicks or a load of other strings though either.
 21. Oh that's very sad, deepest condolences to his family Pete x
My deepest sympathy to Steve's family..... very sad news
22. I know ,it's such a class instrument,if it goes be great if it went back home .pm'd you some details
You will seriously regret getting rid of this! I know I did when I sold my single cut Chris Larkin is an amazing luthier and all round nice chap. And thats a steal of a price too; sorely tempted myself. Where you based mate?
23. I know i'm gonna regret this ,this is the only bass i've consistently enjoyed playing apart from the Wals. Chris has only made around 250 basses in 30 years,so most of you probably not came across one before. Made by hand in Co. Kerry http://chrislarkinguitars.com/ Chris' work is some of the best i've seen ,and his Blen E.U.B. is awesome too. Original Kent Armstrong pick ups ,3 band active (bass, mid, treble) controls ,volume (pulls up for passive),pickup pan ,passive tone.Has a few little dings in finish but pretty much all in the back(and some crazing of the lacquer too on back) Gorgeous Figured maple over mahogany body, and the finish/colours are incredible Has light strings on at moment and a nice action . Will get some more pics up soon, the finish has more blue in than the pics suggest depending on the light it's in.These are just under 2grand new Any interest pm me looking for £780 !!! now £650!!!! Cheers Pete
