  1. After a proper set up I agreed to keep with the flats for a month or so as they seem to suit it. it’s playing really well now and I’m trying to adjust my playing by using a thinner plectrum with a lighter touch. I normally bash away at a Precision with a 1.07 big triangular job. I suspect I will end up with roundwounds though.
  2. I bought a JMJ last week. I'm really enjoying it...... apart from the flats. I'm sticking a set of medium scale D'Addario Pro Steels (45-100) on it next week. I'll let you know how I get on.
  3. Orange Terror 500. I loved that beefy sound. It was the best I've come across at sitting in the mix with a noisy trio. I didn't and still don't need a versatile amp. I only got rid of it as it was an early hot DI model that no amount of frigging around with xlr attenuators could satisfactorily sort. I was playing 95% DI'd gigs at the time. I might have to get one of the new ones if the DI is fit for purpose now. I'm very happy with my current TC Classic but it hasn't quite got the 'in yer face' of the OTB.
  4. I used to run my OTB through a TC Electronic RS210 and/or RS112 cabs. It sounded glorious. I preferred it to the Barefaced ones I tried with it.
  5. I worked in a music shop late 70s as a yoof. To be fair that is period correct for a lot of Fenders output at the time.
  6. The JMJ is on the list. I far prefer a P to a J neck and I believe this is more of a hand filler.
  7. I'm having a day off next Wednesday and I'm going to try all the Mustang varieties. No doubt I'll end up with the expensive option.
  8. Could well be. I'm not that sharp sometimes.
  9. Cancelled my order too. Confirmed this morning that there are no Squier Mustangs until Feb/March. I do have a severe Jones for one though so I may go Vintera in Fiesta Red. Lollipops...
  10. Just wondering what accessories the Fender Custom Shop Sid Vicious P Bass comes with?
  11. At gigs it has been remarked that I bear a resemblance to Alf Garnet and Greg Wallace. I don't know what bands they are in though?
  12. Shipment delayed Looks like all the new Squiers are held up.I blame Boris.
  13. £319 at 9 months interest free. Was rude not to. If I get on with I'll probably be ordering a b/w/b scratchplate as I'm not a tort fan. I'm hoping this will be a good garage/punk machine.
  14. Just pulled the trigger on a new Mustang in white from Andertons. Will report back.
  15. Reasonably priced, licensed R***enbackers made outside the US with more user friendly bridges....
  16. I'm compiling a list of left field 70s stuff for a possible left field covers project. I'm liking this slice of New York CBGB's oddness.
  17. The short lived S1 switch tried to emulate that. I binned the one on my precision
  18. This was how it ran best in my originals band. Run through the set once. Anything that wasn't nailed or was new play again Have tea and biscuits. Try something new until it stopped being exciting. I would normally bring in some lyrics and we'd go from there. Discuss the set/songs. Maybe change or retire an older one. Have a quick run through of songs that needed it again. Help the drummer pack up and check the diaries.
  19. Tune. African Dub Chapters 1-4 are amazing. Can't beat a bit of Greensleeves output on a nice sunny day like today .
  20. Probably the rig I've still got I can't see any reason to change. Loud, light and compact.
  21. John Hall was Brentford's right back for a while when we were in the 4th Division/League 2 about 10 years ago. Lovely hair and quite stylish. Couldn't defend for toffee. Looked more a 5 string Jazz player if I'm honest. Doesn't help this thread much I'll admit.
