1.
Now that's what I call a service. You don't see that too often. Did you have a similar problem then?
Their service is outstanding. Probably the best. My issue was with the Barefaced cab, when running my F1 with the Spector and the Barefaced I had lots of distortion to the point that I stopped using my Spector when gigging. Then I swapped the tone pump and sorted the problem. End up selling both the cab and the bass.
2. Pj will probably offer you the same solution he offered me, in 2008 I think the new tonepumps were fitted with a trim pot designed to lower the output without losing tone, PJ had one sent to me from Czech Rep (FREE), and I got it fitted at the gallery for less that £30 I think. I no longer have the Spector sold it to another BC , but hell was one heck of a bass.
3. In Porto have a francesinha....
4.
Agreed, fantastic website! If I hadn't just got snapped up by another band, I'd be emailing you too! Hope you get someone good! Truckstop
I've emailed but didn't get a reply yet, hope I'm not too late. David
5. Thanks Steve I'll give that a try. I've been looking for chords diagrams for ages with no sucess.
6. I'm the opposite, I'm rubish at learning stuff by ear, but if you shout a note I know where it is, granted I may have to think for a fraction of a second on the low B, but ther others I know.
7.
I didn't know the song, so just had a quick look on Youtube. If it's this version, you seem to have the wrong chords. A - C#m/G# - F#m - D The 2nd chord (C#m) is 2nd inversion with G# on bass Pretty easy to relate to bass. Basically, play as is. Starting A on 12 fret.
I thought it was Ab. Sorry what you mean play as is? Just strech to reach the minor 3rd instead of the 10th?
8.
On piano it is easy to play denser chords, but on bass you need to be more economical, and strip it down to the essential notes.
Long live the recession...... Cool, I'll have another go and see how it sounds stripped down...
9. Hi Julian I've dropped you an email. Thanks David
10. Thanks Doddy. For that song I won't be able to drop a note as I'm covering a piano. Someone Like you by Adele. The chords are A, Ab, F# and D, Ab & F# are Minor 3rd. What would you use in this song? Thanks again David
11. Hi I've been taking a special interest in playing chords, but I find that I struggle with the fingerings (don't even start ), for example if I play A on the 17th fret of the E string along with its octave and the try to include the minor 3rd on the G string I struggle big time, find it hard to keep the sound consistent and it starts to hurt after a short while. Also I tried to find other chords positions and the only thing I find are triads and arpeggios but not the actual chord positions. Can anyone help?
12.
Coming from Kings Cross Northern Line to Victoria and then the District Line to Earls Court.. and walk. That sound about right?
get off at West kensington saves you 10 minutes walking
13. Email Steve Lawson, (he's away at the moment) but I'm sure he would gladly help you.
14. Just saw your post about being here already Phil W is playing with Furniture tonight at Furniture live at the Miller (with Marbles Improv) The Miller 96 Snowsfields Road London Bridge London SE1 3SS United Kingdom 20 7407 269 http://artistdata.sonicbids.com/phil-wain/...-3-2011/538942/
15.
Weds night blues jam at the Coach and Horses in Leyton. Best blues jam in town.
A mate of mine, awsome bass player has countless gigs happening all the time, he plays jazz, balkan music etc etc etc.... @philwbass is his Twitter account, he often twitts about his gigs and some youtube videos for you to check out, drop him a line, top bloke, also check where Steve Lawson is playing that week on his website or @solobasssteve on Twitter. Failing all that check Jazz Cafe in Camden on your wait to the gallery. (the first two options will be cheaper)
16.
Do you realise how this post makes you sound you clown?
A bit harsh don't you think? back on topic I quite like Sade but not sure I could listen to an album from top to bottom. now the bass line on kiss of life is quite cool. It makes me want to learn it
17. Price is also dictated by your students. I.e. better to have 20 students at £20ph then 1 or 2 at £30. my advice start low and then build up from there as you get more and more students
18. So it seems like there's a common opinion that to learn how to play by ear, I don't need the ability to sing. So I guess I'll have to look at ways to learn tunes by ear, albeit this is something I find very difficult. Silddx that is very good and it is one the things I'd love to be able to do. Richard Bona does it fantastically I was amazed when I saw him doing that at the Jazz Cafe.
19. Hi guys This is a strange question but bass related nonethless. I've been out of bands since April and am slowly going back to playing I'm enjoying but I'm playing very aimlessly. I strugle to learn songs by ear and I believe that one of the reasons for it is because I can't sing to save my life, I'm really horrible, so I thought that singing lessons would help me working on my hearing which in turn will help me with my bass playing. Am I bonkers? Is this a good idea. Please comment David
20.
Dear Santa, I would like a computer mousemat with a photo of bass guitars on it - preferably mine. I've been a good boy this year. Donald ( Age 46)
Wish granted http://www.basscentre.com/bass-gift-ideas/...-mouse-mat.html if you don't have an Infinity, that's your problem.
21.
Well, the pics from the website seem to suggest TM Stevens, Mark King, Andrew Mckinney, Les Claypool, Billy Sheehan's (Bass!!), whether that means they'll be there or playing there is to be revealed. However for £12.50, and with me living in london, i'll quite happily go along both days. Olympia is a pretty big place to fill for "just" a bass guitar based trade show.
They probably will be using the second room, the one used by trades. Smaller but big enough for all things bass. £12.50 might mean I'll have to choose and just go along for one afternoon.
22. That's 5 minutes from my work place, I've booked two lunch times already
23. I'm sure I have that issue and can scan for you, drop me a message later today or tomorrow with your email to remind me. I'm out today so it should only be tomorrow afternoon that I get around to do it.
