1. I have an F1 and vouch for it. Comparing to the LMII I'd say that F1 is quicker responding and with less colouring. So if you don't really like your bass sound flat this amp will only amplify it. I'd go as far as saying that this amp is the one with less colouring in the market. Saying that you can always shape the sound with the EQ. I love it to bits, and heck you are selling it for a dam good price I'm sure it will sell very soon.
2. When you have someone coming from the crowd and compliments everyone in the band shaking their hands and just bypasses you. It happened last gig.
3.
Ah, of course. But I can't see Alex staying away from BC, even if he is staring at boobs and firing automatic weapons in Eastern Europe.
I think he's only back on the 20th. I emailed him eralier this week and received his "out-of-office" in return

5. Mine is in Sevenoaks, Kent. But it travels very often to London. You can always cancel that order and get mine. Hi Rowbee Thanks man I have been lurking around for some time and started posting about a month ago. You too can now be the happy new owner of a lovely Acme B2 David
6. After gigging with it for a year, now it's time to pass it on. This is a very loud cab that can handle most gigs, from quiet pubs to outdoor marquee type gigs. Specs below: Model: Acme Low B-2 Series II Frequency response: +/-3 dB 41Hz to 22 kHz -6 dB at 31 Hz Power Handling: 350 Watts RMS continuous 300 Watts sine wave @ 30.87 Hz Sensitivity: 93 dB 1W/1M Dimensions: 23"H x 15.75"W x 16.5"D Weight: 50 lbs / 23.2 kg 4ohms I'm looking to get £400 for it. See pics below, only the cab is for sale.
7. There's loads of basses with no exposed poles, 24 frets etc... for around that kind of money. What do you mean by being picky? You don't like green? You don't like alder? Needs to have an ebony fretboard? You want an audere preamp? That's being picky. Of the top of my head. I can list a couple brands that do stuff on your price range Spector Warwick Yamaha Ibanez There's loads more but this is just a start. Let us know what specs do you want and what kind of sound are you looking for and that may be easier. When going custom you will soon realise that the price adds up very quickly and for that kind of money you are probably better off going for a production run. Is used out of the question? David
8. Great advice above, when mentioned that you should start flat, and take into consideration the bass and the speaker placement. I'd also add that what you ear in stage is nothing like the sound you will get in the crowd. As for the smiley/frown faces, work with what's best for you, you have to do lots of experiments. With my T-Bass and Spector inside a pub I play flat and use the onboard preamps, when playing outdoors I sometimes give it a bit on the mids for t-bass and the smiley face on the Spector. Ultimately I beleive that if you have a need to adjust your amp too much, maybe you are using the wrong amp, one should enjoy the sound of his amp without having the need to colour it.
9.
Having had a look around (which was a bit difficult becuase not many places seem to stock them) the prices seem to £300+ for the junior versions and £400+ for the big ones. That's at least twice what I'd consider to be a beginners budget.
I'll agree with you, even more when you have a decent squier going for £200. Maybe they should have considered the price a bit better.
10. I think the player doesn't do it justice. I might be wrong but that guy sounds as if he could make a sawdosky sound awful. I don't know the price but I like the concept, Cheap bass, shocking looks, either if you like it or not, and overall a decent bass to start with. Did anyone managed to try one yet?
11. Sweet deal Alex. Is there anyone from West Kent? I'm in Sevenoaks I will be able to drop it off to anyone that leaves nearby.
12. I like this game, this one was taken at Barry Hearn 60th Birthday Party
13. I should be able to try a Compact with my F1 very soon. I'm pretty sure that I'll have a great sounding rig. Maybe a bit too articulate for the ones who prefer an SVT sound but fantastic for those who like a more clinical sound.
14.
I did the same thing. Put the Precision away and only played the 5 string. I pretty well made a complete hash of the first two gigs but now, nearly 15 years later, I couldn't comfortably go back to a 4 string! Except for 5 extra notes a 5 is really only a 4 but with some of the notes in a different place, it's not a different instrument at all.
Good advice above, I play 5ers exclusively but I used to play 4 strings when I done the switch I completly forgot about the 4 and now has become second nature. Just don't overthink it and it will come naturaly.
15.
Do some iron on logos, so people have the choice of cover.
And make them with the openings for the handles so people can carry them around in the rain. On and waterproof as well.
16. or this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvBtX_omY4o
17. I have a Ritter and the zips are poor. I would buy a Momo or an incase.
18.
That's a real tale of woe and I'm aware of another person who had similar problems with a blueburst 4004. The guy seems to have then gone on a mission to find every person who has ever had a problem with a Rickenbacker and provided a link to it. Fair enough, it's obviously a personal crusade for him. I wouldn't let that put you off though. I'm obviously someone who likes Rickenbackers a lot, but in my own experience, the finish on Rickenbackers is absolutely outstanding. I also have no complaints about bass construction, especially recent examples which are very robust indeed. I will concede that the guitar neck joints on my doublenecks are something I treat with utmost care as there is very little wood behind the start of the joint owing to the neck angle. Still quite useable though and one of those is almost 35 years old. Here in the UK, because Rosetti order bulk shipments (of 4003 s at least), most of us have the opportunity to pick and choose which Rickenbacker we'd like, rather than being stuck with the one we've specifically ordered.
For sure Jon I really think that the guy who did the website did it in very high spirits, I wouldn't be so calm myself. Saying that we all hear bad experiences with bass builders when some other people swear by it. I guess that's just luck...or not. It's always good to have both opinions and then decide for yourself.
19. I bought the lastest issue of Bass Guitar Magazine today at lunch time in Putney WH Smith. inside:Alleva Copollo, Spector Rebop, Roscoe. T.C Electronics. The Killers bass player and more...
20. You can tell by my avatar that I like Spectors... Someone said on the 1st page that the difference in volume output to any other bass is daunting that's true and it is a very negative point if you are the other bass. Spectors do cut through everything. If you are looking for one I'd say hunt the used market and you can find a good deal, I would go with an Euro. David
21. I don't mean to sound like a jerk on my 2nd post but you may want to read this before you think about buying one. Bad experience with Ric
22. Hi everyone I’m David, originally from Sintra-Portugal, I’m 27 and have been playing bass since 16 or so. I’m now living in Kent since 2005. I currently own a Spector Euro 5 LX in natural oil, and a T-Bass by Status in Cherry red. I run this through a Mark Bass F1 and an Acme B2, and I have to say I’ve been GAS free for the past months I’m really happy with my current line up. I use elixir strings and any cable that works. I had some lessons back at home and here with Steve Lawson, although the lack of time made not being able to carry on with lessons. I play in a covers band called Room3 www.myspace.com/room3 and we gig a couple nights a month nothing too fancy just the usual set of covers. I dream of owning a Ritter sometime. That’s all folks I’m sure I’ll enjoy bass chat. David
