1. Fender Jap P body with Fender Jap Jazz fretless neck. Perfect. No gap in the pocket. With 3mm nut difference, that's 1.5mm each side. There's about 550mm of neck between pocket exit point and nut (topside). Not the greatest at trigonometry, but the increase in taper angle between a P and a Jazz neck must only be measurable in microns at the pocket exit point.
2.
Fingers crossed its only going to be a matter of time before the parents realise that its more trouble than its worth having the kids there......... ........(we've just been booked for a BBC Maida Vale session and are getting some dates in Europe etc) so I don't want to shoot myself in the foot over this issue! Will have to see how it goes!!....
Apologies to the OP, but if the 'parents' are complete a***holes, then it has obviously spread to the rest of the band. Let me get this straight. Small kids are being left in a van outside a pub or similar, locked in the van? or unlocked in case they need to escape from some bad situation, which also includes any passing drunk/paedo etc trying to get in. This kind of situation has prison sentence written all over it, but owing to an upcoming session at the BBC and some European dates these kids are going to coninue to be subjected to this treatment with no argument from any other band members? Wow, fame at any price eh? I just hope I never meet the OP, the urge to punch him in the face for his part in the abuse of innocent kids would be just too strong. Unbelievable.
3. Just done a deal on a great pedal. Quick delivery and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Fred.
4. Total thumbs up from me. Gigging with one for past 6 months now (plus BC410) and cuts through anything no problem. Run it flat, no EQ, perfect (and lightweight).
5. Badfinger, No Matter What. Not to be confused with a more recent song with the same name.
6. Great bass in fantastic condition, great packaging and an all-round great guy. Cheers Mike.
7. Lovely Bongo 5er, dispatched mucho pronto and packed to withstand a nuclear attack. Great guy to deal with. Cheers Ben
8.
Which Macca bass would fetch the most at an auction?
Well..... Highly debatable. Macca's original Hofner was nicked and so it's only a 'replacement'. That one and only Rick provided the basis for probably some of the most famous albums of all time. I know which one I would be bidding on if they ever came up for auction (and I won a triple rollover lottery the week before).
9.
Not THE bass Macca is known for though is it?
It is in this house. Around 90% of the Fabs' recorded output from Rubber Soul onwards, and then 10 years solo/Wings? Joe Public might only see him with a crappy wee German thing round his neck, but the reality is different. And add me to the list of ex-Backer wielders. Fender and Musicman these days. Ricks really are the most expensive novelty bass on the go, but still people get sucked in (until the novelty wears off).
10.
it's a bass that a lot of well known players used to play. I guess Geddy is the most famous........
Yeah, probably. I can never remember that bloke's name from that 60's Liverpool band.
11. Paul is a thoroughly decent chap and have just had the pleasure of a silky smooth transaction with him. He stumped up the dosh real quick and says nice things about the horrendous cricket bat I sold him. Recommend to anyone, cheers Paul.
12. Nothing but pleasant experiences from all my dealings on here. Loads of interest and lots of questions answered. If someone needs to ask a question then that's a detail that should be in the listing. I'm trying to sell something, so whatever an interested party needs to know, I tell them. Items then sell, simples. Facts that may be bleedin' obvious to me may not be obvious to Joe Public out there. No matter how many messages I get in the course of a deal they are always answered politely, and I've never yet felt a hissy fit coming on, or the urge to withdraw the bass(es) from sale.
13. Always take two basses, neither of which is a backup. One fretted, one fretless. Make sure I can do the set on fretless (works wonders for improving fretless ability). Sometimes do whole gig with fretted (if feeling lazy) and sometimes mix it up. Only once done a whole gig without frets but that was tiring. Concentration and finger placement accuracy wears you down over a whole night, but like I said, it's great experience. I have to take two basses to justify the purchase of the Mono double gig bag (which is the bees knees).
14. Lovely stuff. Now those damn guitarists with their 'acoustic' strumming through their amps will bow to the bottom end being heard at last (rehearsal only so far, but maybe a gig or two soon). Hopefully Shadow plus Ashdown is sweet enough to make an impact.
15. Ooh..... Just saw this.... So off to that eBay I went.... And bought it. Woo Hoo!
16. Shapes. Shapes. Shapes. Get to know a couple of major/minor scales and arpeggios. Recognise what the root note is (don't bother with the rest) and then just play, play, play along to fav songs you know the chords to. Up the way, down the way, start in the middle of the shape and then go up or down. Doesn't matter, don't practice as if you were performing bass accompaniment, play as if you were trying to P-off the singer/guitarist by getting in the way all over the song. Remember the shapes. Keep doing the ones that sound good, forget the ones that don't work and play, play, play. Reading music, whilst being thoroughly commendable, is irrelevant. If you're looking at dots on a sheet, then you're not improvising.
17.
Apparently it was scanned before the guy knew the lorry had gone, that was my first question too.
So that's twice the guy has scanned something as 'Gone', but then looked round and wondered where the truck is. I don't think their 'next day' service applies north of Watford, so they shouldn't sell it to us northern types as a 'next day' service. Not using them again. (hoots mon and jings)
18.
I've found out the reason, apparently the lorry left too early before the van came back from collecting.
They're spinning a line there. The tracking shows it as being loaded onto the TRUNK Vehicle last night at 17:03. That's the big truck that heads for the distribution hub down in Englandshire overnight. They're making it up...
19.
Apparently it's still in Aberdeen
Wayne, believe it or not exactly the same thing happened with another bass I sold and sent off last week. Interparcel 'Next Day UK' was collected in good time and the tracking indicated all was well (loaded onto the truck in Aberdeen) in the evening........ and then next day 'Delayed' on the tracking. The day AFTER, it showed up as having been in Edinburgh.. but was then delivered OK a day late. I did warn you ('Don't bet your house on it') when you got the tracking ref..... Are there ANY reliable couriers left out there who deliver on target? I think not.
20. Great guy, great communication and a pleasure to deal with. Cheers Chris.
21. Great communication, great guy, cash on the nail. Cheers Gareth.
