I've had four Markbass heads - LMIIs, an LMIII and the 500 watt LM Tube head I'm currently using. I love the heads especially the Tube one but never got on with the cabs - too middy and at the same time woolly. I bought a new 2x10 combo about a year ago and sold it within a matter of weeks - hated it. Spent all my time knob twiddling looking for a usable sound. The heads sound brilliant through the Epifani UL310, Bergantino 2 x 1x12 and Aguilar 2 x 1x12 cabs I had.

I'm thinking of changing the preamp in my Shuker to a John East U Retro five knob deluxe. Anybody have any good / bad things to say about them before I blow my wad?

Went to see Steve Lukather on Friday night - fell in love with a MM5. I'm really glad I can't find one for sale anywhere cos I'd be about £2,000 worse off right now. Bassist was Renee Jones.

Went to see my lifelong hero Steve Lukather and his band in Wolverhampton last night and it was fantastic. Renee Jones played bass and she was excellent - great sound playing one of the new Stingray Classic 5HHs through a Hartke rig. I now have a swelling in my pants and GAS for a new bass. Anybody else there?

There's only one reason why something won't sell - the price is too high.

I've been looking at this too - there's a windfall coming our way in the Spring and I was thinking of treating myself to something exotic when the moolah becomes available but then I saw that offer and I was sorely tempted to bite. However, I've since decided I'm going to resist and be patient.

Steely Dan - my favourite band bar none.

In my last (soul) band, we were doing 75-80 gigs a year. The band I'm in now has done just 8 gigs since I joined 'em last September but the quality's improved a lot. It used to be pubs and weddings, now it's theatres and festivals. 2011 is looking a lot better gig-wise.
