1.
3 leaf proton....wet & bubbly funk (new version) moved my MXR B.E.F on' way to quacky, & laser beam effects" very synth sounding....good with a OC2' tho.....but ultimately quite disappointing...I.M.O
That surprises me, although of course it's all subjective. I've found it nothing but useable and very musical. Made some very brief Instagram vids here: http://instagram.com/simonrpoulton (towards the bottom of March 2014) Si p.s. edit. The vids are just through my iPhone mic using my Fender USA passive Jazz, Mark Bass LM2 & Barefaced Midget
I was just wondering if there was any way of building a looper pedal (like the ditto) or an octave pedal (think OC-2)? I have no idea what I'm doing but would quite like a little project to work on. Any of you got any ideas to help me?
Both are of corse technically possible, the Looper would he very very difficult, the OC-2 is an advanced build, although soon good PCBs are available for the Pearl Octaver, very similar plus octave up Si
3. My go to filter for a really useable sound is the MXR, really flexible but really musical too. I'd be interested in trying out some other more esoteric filters, but for pure workhorse solid filter sounds, my vote is the MXR Si
4.
Current board; Pitchblack - Demon - Rat Tail - BDPG Been running the BDPG into the power amp of my GK MB500 today, alternating between driving it with the Rat & Demon. It improves both of those pedals massively, keeping much more low end in the sound, thickening up the dirt and keeping the mids very present. So happy with this set up that I've started selling off the rest of my pedals. I'm hoping for the BDPG to be my always-on, giving me 3 distinct sounds ("clean", Rat, Demon). The only downside with it is if all 3 pedals are activated, I seem to lose a fair amount of low end, and it sounds quite thin; however, I'm sure I can play with the settings and fix that. It may even cut through the mix with no problem, anyway. I love the near-matching kid paint, too!
Fair play for fitting all that on a Nano, looks awesome! Si
5. My fave filter ever, you'll love it Steph, great price too Si
6.
To be completely honest I'm fairly sure that the Tech21 alone could demolish the walls with my amp :/
But.....you know.....best make sure Si
7. Hmmmm, my journey was: GS, BDPG, OSD, RT, DD Still have them all Si

10. I'm sure I'll be there with any number of effects and Precision basses Si
11.
I'm currently running this little setup. No board, partly because I'm cheap, and partly because I don't have enough hands to carry everything (carrying a bass, amp, backpack, and smoke machine is kind of inconvenient). Powered off a Diago PS01, running the daisy chain out from the tuner. Nothing too fancy, but it does the job. Next additions will probably be a chorus and a fuzz, which I'm going to be building. So that should be fun.
You might want to rethink your power perhaps, if you're Daisy tuning from the Diego then you're probably fine, however if you're feeding the Tuner from the Diago, then Daisy chaining from the tuner, you're going to run out of juice almost instantly. The TU-2 can only supply 200ma, the Cathedral requires 200ma on its own (or that's what the manual suggests). Si
12.
Oh I know, I know. You're talking to someone who owns a b7k amongst others but it does seem like a lot still. No offence meant if you build them Sibob.
None taken mate . Some companies do take the mickey on the price a little, but still, many small builders still struggle even on current pricing Si
13.
I know all pedals are the same, but the idea of charging £90 for a few pence worth of resistors and caps is crazy. You see those circuit diagrams and wonder why we bother don't you?
Purchase all the parts (high quality parts), time yourself building it (what do you like to be paid per hour?), do the internals appear a standard that you'd be happy to pay for? Decorate the enclosure to a degree that you'd be happy to purchase from a shop etc......... How much did it cost you in total? Si
14.
Martin Owen at Owen Electronics will probably be able to sort this for you and I would expect it to cost less than a second hand replica.
Plus whatever value you lose off it being an 'original unmodded' DOD. Of course this doesn't matter to some people, which is cool, just saying Si
15. It doesn't sound as high gain as the SFT, but sounds nice, wonder what its like in a mix. Si
16. Check these guys out in Brighton: http://www.brightonion.co.uk/categories/AB%7B47%7DABC%7B47%7DABY/AB-Pedals/ Si
17. Yeah you won't find them for that cheap anymore haha Si
18. I'd say £90 is pretty cheap for a new pedal?! lol Si
19. Thought I'd do a 2014 updated Si
20. With fuzzes, often stacking 2 overly saturated effects will create an overly compressed sound, which doesn't suit many people. You might find that stacking two Russian Tall Fonts at lower gain settings will achieve a tone different to one Tall Russian at a higher gain setting. Personally, I find it more fun stacking different pedals, mix & match Si
21. I'll be along on Sunday nice and early to catch mr Steve Lawson, looking forward to it! Si
22. Obviously people can spend what they want on whatever gear they want, however I would prefer to spend more money on a quality hand-built pedal from a family business over x-amount to a mass produced, Chinese factory built That's in no way a snobby 'I only buy boutique' (I love my Boss stuff, but just saying in this instance And the nice thing, want more bass? Contact Ryan and ask if he can do that for you Si
23. The OCD/Demon is a different circuit to all the above that you own, as such, you will inherently find a different tone, however how different that tone is can often depend on your ears. I know guys who can tell the difference between OCD versions, and guys who can't tell the difference between a Big Muff & Tubescreamer. Si
24. Two Pogs and two Harmonists........serious pitch-shifting going on! Love it Si
25. I'd suggest leaving it as it is (they're kinda 'vintage' now), and buy a reissue to gig with (which has an LED) Si
