1.
If only it had a maple neck.......
It has Tommi, it has. But a Rosewood fingerboard
2.
Eerie! I've got another one since then
Shocker I've just seen a Pelham Blue Non Reverse Tbird come up. I really NEED to stop looking at basses
3. I know, it's frustrating but where I'm working at the moment, I simply can't have deliveries or collections This would have been sold 5 times if I could courier. By the way Ben, it's 5 years ago today I bought your Fenderbird.
4.
Karl, that's easily uglier than me or you. A shotgun would improve it no end The weight is very tempting.....
Speak for yourself Tom
That is the sort of bass that you can't help thinking someone was having a laugh about designing when you first look at it. But it's growing on me.
Yup.
I had one. Strangely, I miss it. It had a great neck, was well balanced and light weight. The active pickup and eq could sound very aggressive and harsh with too much treble, but it was easily tamed, sounded great, powerful and cut through really well. Good quality fit and finish as it was their professional range. But I sold it when I left the U2 tribute band. GLWTS
Excellent summary!
May help your sale if you delete your pic from the "Stupidest thing you ever bought" thread
Truth hurts
5. Thanks for all the comments chaps. I expected some ribbing, I wasn't disappointed . Strangely I've already had 5 trade offers I have always loved the Gibbo Explorer shape ( I gigged an '84 for 17 years) and for whatever reason this appealed BUT I'm getting close to only 3 basses now. I'm still weak willed and prone to bass picture inspired GAS though. Full spec is on the link in post #1 (near bottom of the page it opens onto, you just click on the spec). It weighs just over 8lb. Cheers, Karl.
6. Warwick, Artist Series, Adam Clayton Reverso. Korean version (kinda like Lakland did with Skylines series). I have valued it at £600 trade. I'e seen them sell for more & for less. It is beautifully made, the neck (jazz size) is excellent, I actually like the "buzzard beak" headstock. It's very well balanced. It's a very growly Precision that can be tamed with flats. Active/passive push/pull, bass & treble. http://www.warwick.d...--Pictures.html TRADES!!! I have a few hundred quid for the right Fender P or perhaps jazz. Cheers, Karl.
7.
anybody considering a mex, don't ... these electras are better
Couldn't possibly comment, cheers Steve .
Do the Celtic dot markers hide the original dot markers or were there no original dot markers? Just a thought
No dots on fretboard, just side of the neck. Some of us mature chaps struggle to see side dots on rosewood in certain lighting.
8. Just had the pleasure of a meet up with Steve. Cracking piece of gear and he went out of his way to make it easy for me. Absolute pleasure Steve, thanks for everything, really appreciated. Deal with utmost confidence peeps, top bloke
9. Very nice Sandberg budget bass, NOT the full fat German one (what, at this price ). Korean parts, assembled and QCd in Germany. Currently around £630 new. New strings, new set up, just oil'd fingerboard. The Celtic dot markers are so I can see where I am in poor light. Just stickers, so can be removed leaving no residue. Lightish at 8lb 8oz. PLEK'D..... not many in this price bracket have that. Zero fret (as above). Active/passive on vol control, then Balance & stacked bass/treble. Great bridge. Easy to set up to your requirements. I suppose these could be likened to Sandbergs version of Mex Fender? Dunno, but it's a good bass that is being usurped by a Flea. Collection Wigan,or meet up within 30 miles of Wigan. Feedback linked below. I will chuck in a horrible beat up gig bag to keep the rain off. Sorry, no trades. Thanks for looking, Karl. EDIT,! Oh, I have the black scratchplate & all the screws, but unlike most Fenders you can remove it without exposing big holes
10.
Calling Karlfer!

I was just about to shout the same!

I thought about adding Karl's name to the thread title.........
Bloody comedians I'll get my own back, I will repulse you with what I get shot of next!
11. Yup, I'll have that Steve, thank 'ee. Go to PM I would like to organise collection from Stockport please.
12. Just simply put, it's always a pleasure dealing with Tom. He really is one of the very best. Enjoy the Tango mate, until the next time
13. On hold thanks folks
14. Excellent condition, 1 ding on headstock, won't show in photos. Hand built at Gibson's Memphis, Tennessee factory. The Gibson ES-335 bass is built to the original carving specifications, and updates the electronics with a pair of warm, crisp humbuckers. Pre pack inspection Jan 21st 2014. The neck on the Gibson ES-335 electric bass is carved from a single piece of quarter-sawn maple, 34-inch scale length. Set neck, 41mm nut, all-rosewood fingerboard, and inlaid on 8 frets with traditional white dot inlays. This ltd edition is cut to the exact original body specs, with all-maple arched top and sides, and the 1961-style maple centerblock. Weight is just over 9lb. Unlike the originals the neck pup has been moved to centre position, giving more definition than the originals "mudbucker". The humbucker in the bridge position instantly delivers that big percussive sound characteristic of Gibson's semi-hollowbody basses. Separate Volume and Tone pots on each pickup, 3 way toggle switch The 3 point bridge has been replaced by a Babicz full contact. I DON'T have the original bridge, you can find them used for about £30. It's a pig to photo so there's one from Chicago in there as well. - 100 percent American Made in Memphis, TN TRADES American Jazz Deluxe 2014 onwards. Any trial in Wigan. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl.
15. Black or Red Mike?
16. Stunning Phil (the jazz, not you, obviously ) GLWTS
17. Absolute steal Steve. If you weren't so far away, it would be mine (and put back to original & the upgrades flogged ). GLWTS
18. Timing, always bloody timing I've agreed to trade my Hot Rod for a Gibson Memphis ES335 bass (+some loot, it's more expensive than the Hot Rod). So, for the next week or two, no loot
19. Over 30 trade offers, 3 people fund raising, but finally tempted by a trade
20. Cheers Bri. On hold.
21. Over 20 basses offered in trade, some a little more realistic than others . 4 people fundraising to buy this. Still here though. Probably going to remove if it's still here next weekend as it would appear this uncommon bass is not quite desirable enough for folk to bite the bullet.
22. Not the only one. My ad for Fender American Hot Rod has vanished (reported to MB1 & Ped last night). Looks like Black Coffee had an incident with his Steve Harris as well. Wonder if the word "trade" is significant. I know I'm up to date with my £20
23. £800 with TATTY GIGBAG rather than hardcase. You won't see many of these this year. Still have a few bob towards the right jazz as well.
24. Great bass at a great price. GLWTS
25. It's a normal Jazz Bass Deluxe, from 2006. Very nice. 2006 was Fender's 60th anniversary (the Jazz didn't come along until 1961), most of Fenders instruments had the 60th Anniversary sticker/badge in 2006. GLWTS
