3. Quick BUMP for ------PRICE DROP---------- £150 for an Ashdown Mini 15" -:BARGAIN:-
 4.
BUZZ Wrote:- Yes, those two (or 4) screws around the pups will be for adjusting height of the pups. There's no real set distance between them as it depends on the strength of the pup, too far and it'll sound quiet, too close and you start to affect the vibration characteristics of the string and can induce "wolf notes" and some clattering as well, but obviously the output goes up. Anywhere inbetween the min and max is fine. You can also adjust one side to tilt the pickup if the output across the strings isn't balanced. Normally you wouldn't touch them when you alter the action unless you've gone from being able to fit a bus under the strings to a much much lower action. Basically, if it's fine as it is, leave it as it is and have fun playing it.
Thanks Buss - The Action was 'very high' when I got the bass, my adjustment haven't made the strings so low that they clip the pickups so all is OK. I've made a slight angle adjustment to one side of the Pickups to give an even distance between the four strings and the surface if both pickups. In honesty I only really use the bridge pickup as a thumb rest, it's the fret side pickup and the tone control plus the amp EQ that do the rest. Thanks again Buzz.
hillbilly deluxe Wrote:- You can adjust the pole piece screws, but you only need to if one of the strings sounds louder or weaker than the rest.
Thanks hillbilly, I had a feeling in my water that was what they were for - makes sense when I think about it. I've not noticed any large variations in the volume between the strings; I'll check it out at our next practice session where I can play a wee bit louder. Thanks hillbilly, much appreciate. --------------------------------------
 5. Hi Chaps, I recently bought a new Gibson SG Bass, we're getting along famously and have managed 'between us' to get the action and intonation setup sorted (now I've figured out the 3 point bridge) to suit, we've settled on some nice flat wound strings so all is well and we're sounding very Bluesy. While doing the above I wondered if I should be adjusting the screws under the strings that protrude from the pickups, I've resisted the temptation (so far) to play around with them as I've no idea what their purpose is and I'd hate to break something that isn't broke. Are these screws meant to be adjusted if the action is altered? Should there be a certain measured gap between the strings and the top of each screw for optimum pickup performance? I'm really asking what do they do and should I make adjustments to them? Explanations and advice would be gratefully received. Thanks - Oggy
 6. I’ve have, from new, two Ashdown Mini 15’s (Like this - Ashdown ABM Mini 15) for the last three years, they’ve served me well but at least one of them has to go. Why? I hear you ask. Well, I’m trying to ‘down-weight’ my rig, I’ve bought a Genz Benz 6.0 from another site member (thank you Bob ‘bobpalt’, I love it) and have a Barefaced Compact Cab. on order from Alex so I’m almost ‘sorted’. Having the Benz and the Compact Cab. will be great but leaves me with the two Ashdown Cab’s sitting around. The thought is to sell one of the Ashdown’s and keep one to run with the Compact Cab. should I need to. Both Ashdown Cab’s are in good nick and come with Ashdown covers, both Cabs. have a couple of minor dings but nothing serious. I’d be happy to let one of the Cabs go (choose either one for yourself) for £150 or TRADE it for a backup Short Scale Bass; cash adjustments could be made either way. I’m pretty flexible with how the Ashdown Cab’s. go, my goal is to ‘down-weight the rig’ and acquire a backup Short Scale Bass, if both the Cab’s go to achieve this – so be it. I’d prefer collection by the buyer or delivery by myself – I’m Hertfordshire based and work close to Reading, Berkshire. I don't want be driving halfway up the country to deliver or collect, local to either Reading (weekdays) or North London (week ends) would be ideal. Thanks for looking. Oggy

 8.
Decided to move on my custom made Matamp 4x6 cab. Only seen mild studio work and is utterly fantastic. Awesome build quality and sonic performance. Will put photos up later today but here are some details: *8ohms *400w *Almost new condition I'm hoping for £300 for it as it truely is an awesome cab in great condition. Easily loud enough for most applications yet portable and light enough for one hand lift. Any questions, please ask. Thanks U
Hi uzzel, Size, Weight, Sex, Favorite colour, Inside Leg - etc etc etc.....? Good enough for small venues - pubs/clubs? Can't wait to see your pic's. Oggy It's not about size these days - it's all about the weight.
I've seen a few of these around on various websites. Looks like just the job for me. Any experience of it?
Hi Funk, I've owned a Cort C4P for the last three years. I play Blues, Blues/Rock - the Cort has done me proud. Little while ago a bass player from another band had a go of it at the rehearsal rooms and he's seriously into Poppin' and Slappin'! I was gobsmacked at what he got out of it; his comments were very complimentary for the Cort so I'm another in favor of you going for it. The only downside I see with Corts is the resale value, can't fault the build or versatility of them, very underrated Basses. Oggy --------------
 10.
(Dusty @ Mar 6 2010, 05:08 AM) Callum, I note, dispite the numerous e-mails between us and my offers to purchase your bass for the £300 you asked for, You have decided now to put the guitar on e-bay for £400.00 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ME:B:SS:GB:1123 That of course is your right ! But as a new member on here, it would have been curtious to let Me & possibly others aware of your intentions and not waste our time. I have turned down a number of fine basses whilst in negotiation with you and consider it bad form that you should list it on e-bay today without informing me that you do not want to go ahead with the sale! Cheers

i put the bass on ebay at £400 because i did not realise the retail value for these had gone up, considering i need to buy another bass with this money straight away (i practice weekly with my band), an extra £100 makes a lot of difference to me, surely you can understand that? i mainly put it on here for a swap but as i understood you need to put a cash price? (i only joined to put the bass on here). as for not getting in contact, i only listed the bass last night and i was going to amend the post today to state that it was for sale elsewhere. I was just getting a little frustrated because although i'm desperate to get rid of it, i was getting ridiculously low offers on here. genuinely sorry for any inconvenience caused but hopefully you can understand my position
Hi Callum, Have you seen this: Fender Jazz - £300 on this site. You've been offered the £300 by Dusty; Steve Amadeo wants £300 for his Jazz - Could be your answer. I learned a long time ago that whatever is for sale is only 'really' worth what someone is willing to pay, don't matter what it says on the price tag or what you may think it's worth. (Art of sales 101). Hope this helps, you could get the Jazz you were after. Oggy
 11.
Bought from Artisan about 6 weeks ago and as then, it is still in pristine unmarked condition. I really thought that having short arms, this would be ideal but I can't get used to it having played Fenders so it'll need a new home. (Few words stolen from the original advert) finished in "Heritage Cherry" high gloss, trapezoid position markers, pearloid crown inlay & Gibson logo. it's a short scale bass with a 30.5 inch scale. it sounds awesome for blues, jazz, country, classic rock or most styles-just not funk. condition wise it is as new i.e. mint still with the original strings fitted (which are fine btw),infact it smells of the nitro cellulose laquer that Gibson painted it in. I'm looking for £650 ovno + carriage free.
WHAT ,"I'm looking for £650 ovno + carriage free" - That's a great price, why didn't you have it up for sale two week ago - I'm going to be crying into my coco for years after paying £--- (I can't say it, can't write it, it hurts to much) for mine. On a lighter note. Chris 'chrkelly' gave me a tip a few days ago on stringing mine with 'La Bella deep talkin flats (45-105)', Chris said they would get "really nice a few months down the road" - News Flash:- They're really nice sounding now and I've only had them on two days, thanks Chris. Great Bass, Great Price type bump. Oggy (wasn't me)
 12.
MythSte Posted Today, 05:33 PM Realistically I think you'll be looking at £230-£250, maybe even a little less. I've never seen your model but Unfortunately Corts dont seem to hold their value all that well. I bought a B4 with bartolinni electronics etc on here for £350, And ended up trading my C4 LTD (wenge neck etc) for a squier VMJ. I'd expect your price to be somewhere between those two (hence my estimate) Good luck!
---------------------------------------------
Schnozzalee Posted Today, 05:36 PM Hey Oggy, Cort make fantastic basses - I'd swear by em, began on them (A4 fretless) and would still use them at a professional level (especially an A5). However I've always taken a huge hit! I paid £800 for my Cort A6 (one of the high end models) but only just managed to sell it for £350 and it was in mint condition. They have a far superior spec to other basses within the price range, they just don't have the renown yet. Its like a secret among bass players how good they are. Incredible build, playability and electronics - they look pretty great as well for the comfortable shape. Not only this but I reckon the market is slow at the moment due to the xmas credit card bills - reason for ultra low prices etc. If I were you I'd keep hold of it for a couple o months and try again then. They're getting rarer, so I'd just keep asking for the £300 you want. I bet in the future they'll be quite sought after.... Cheers Oli
--------------------------------------- Thank you Guys, Looks like it'll be keeping the Gibson Les Paul Bass company - under the bed with her - only joking. I'm pretty sure that I'll come across some aspiring young Bass player in need of good Bass but no money, I'd like to see it go to someone who would appreciate it (and has finger joints that don't ache when they play it). I have to say that from what I've seen on the site, Cort's really don't fetch much as used so I have to agree with MythSte on that one. I'd very much like to believe that Cort basses will get the recognition they deserve in the future, I'm going with Oli when he says "Its like a secret among bass players how good they are". Thanks again guys, great site with great members. Oggy
 13. --------------------------------------- Hi Chaps, Three years ago I bought a new Cort C4P from a North London music shop for £450, hurt at the time. I've owned it and played it since I bought it and looked after it really well so it's in really good nick. I bought the Cort after 3 or 4 Saturday visits to the store, had to try it out through a few different amps before I made my mind up to buy it - you know the score. From what I could make out at the time it was a limited production run by Cort on these, apparently the Fishman Peizo bridge and electronics made it quite expensive to manufacture, so when I bought it I considered myself quite fortunate to have such a versatile Bass. I'm now suffering a wee bit with my finger joints and have purchased a Gibson SG, it's a lot easier on the hands and a joy to play - looks pretty cool as well (poser ). I've recently tried to both Swap and Sell the Cort on this site - see latest effort at: Cort C4P advert alas no interest . I thought, bearing in mind the spec and condition of the Cort, it would go with no problem +/- £300 was a figure I had in mind, I must have been pretty over optimistic. Question for fellow Basschatters; has anyone else owned one of these? If yes, what did you think of it? And what do you think would be a reasonable price to ask for one in very good condition? I want to put it up again for sale or exchange but really don't know what to ask, apparently +/- £300 is OTT. It must have been a 'very limited' production run - I can't find anything that would help on the Internet. Oggy ---------------------------------------------
 14. Thanks Chaps for pointing me the TAB sites, appreciated . I've Searched and Searched and Googled and can't lay my eye's on Bass TAD for 'Get It Right Next Time' by Mr. Rafferty . I could just keep thumping away at G and C but I'm sure there has to be a bit more to it - anyone found / seen a Bass TAB for it? Found a load of other interesting stuff on the sites you sent me to - thanks to all . Oggy
 15. Hi Chaps, Can any Basschatter out there recommend a really good source for Bass TAB? I can usually work out the Bass lines by ear but on certain occasions it just don't happen so I go with what I think is right. If I could find a good TAB site I'd be happy to pay, after all someone has put in the effort so why not pay for it. I just wish I'd learned to read 'proper music' when I was a kid, should have listened to my Mum. Oggy
 16.
i'm in portsmouth hampshire but am happy to send safely if needed hope this helps!
Hi Callum, PM'd you. Oggy
 17. Hi Callum, What part of the country are you located in? Oggy
 18. Just to comfirm all the good things that other Basschaters have said about dealing with Bob: I'v had the pleasure of selling Bob a Bass and buying an Amp from him; in both transactions he has proved to be a true Gent . I'd have to give Bob ten out of ten and hope to do business with him again. Thanks Bob Oggy
 19.
Front and back duly added....
Aggggggggggggggg , I forked out £900 for one two weeks ago - Awesome sounding bass, despite the wee bit of neck dive, I love mine to bits. I never could figure out why short scale basses are 'frowned' upon by the majority of Bass players . Blues players: This is the one . Oggy
 20. How does this 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm thing work? I'm confused (as usual), I thought a cab / speaker had a fixed input impedance; I don't see a 4 / 8 Ohm selection switch on the back panel, just 8 Ohm i/p. I know it's something to do with wiring the speakers in series or parallel, I just can't see how this works...... . I'm tempted, this could replace the 2 Ashdown Mini 15" I have up for Swap / Trade. But the weight.....Ohhhh, although - I suppose that's what lead guitarists are for . Is it on casters? Oggy I really would like to know about the 4 / 8 Ohm thing.
 21. Hi Geoff, I'm of a certain age and have found myself in a similar position in the past, been in a great Blues band for the last two years though. Give the Formingbands web site a try: Formingbands Website Link Worked for me. Oggy
 22. Hi Chaps, After much agonizing and many visits to loads of music shops I've done it - bought the Short Scale . I went for the Gibson SG Standard, Heritage Cherry: This One. The setup - action and intonation, needs a wee bit of adjusting (action a tad to high and intonation a tad out) and I also want to put a set of medium weight flat-wound strings on her. (I play mostly Blues and Blues/Rock hence the flat-wounds, no slapping and popping done here, wouldn't know where to start ). Would any member who has done the above give me a little advice on the best make of strings to use and point me at any documentation to help with adjusting the action height and intonation. I've changed strings, altered the action and intonation on my Cort Bass and on the Gibson Les Paul Bass that I own, but the SG Bass has a bit of a peculiar bridge as well as the intonation screw adjustments are done from the pickup side . If you guys think it would be wiser to get it done by a professional luther please can someone in the North London / Hertfordshire (WD6) area point me at a good one, I don't want to stuff it up but feel that I should be able to do the more 'everyday' things - I wouldn't go near a truss rod if you paid me. Thanks Guys. Oggy
 23. PM's answered (come back to me) type Bump. Played it last night, I can't fault the condition or the sound - but then again I would say that . Oggy
 24. Hi Sibob, Any thoughts on the PM I sent you earlier ? Or is it just a no go ? Oggy
