I reckon Robbie's work has got to be the most distinctive of any luthier I can think of and definitely in a good way. I'm definitely a fan and I really fancy trying one of his basses at some point. I just LOVE those headstocks!! Keep up the good work Rob dude!!

The thing is, you kinda need to visit him and take a look at everything he has to offer. Some of the woods he has stashed away are absolutely amazing and have to be seen to be believed! Also, if you haven't played one of Jon's basses then you really need to. It's an eye (and wallet) opening experience. There really is a reason that owners of his basses speak so highly, and to be fair you don't often see Shukers being sold!!!

Might I also add, I don't wish to piss off any Sei owners with that comment. I'm a big fan of Sei (I worship James Leach way too much) and I really do want to own one at some point!

Spot on there Kiwi, Jon is more than happy to give you an idea of when he thinks something will be done by, but he isn't prepared to let timescales hamper his build quality. And given that (for example) a Sei is considerably more expensive and takes a lot longer to build, I think Jon's basses are an absolute steal. Pricewise, I can't really go into what this is costing me as it wouldn't be fair on Jon but he has done me a bit of (but not a massive) favour. My bass is a pretty high spec, but even at full price would be worth absoultely every single penny. Every bass I have picked up of Jon's has played like butter and I can go through all my trickiest chops with far more fluency and speed than I have ever been able to on any other bass. Don't think about it, just buy one!!!

I'm into the way the top isn't too overstated and the fretboard has a slightly darker yellowey look to what I imagined it would look like from picking it way back in April I am sooooo chuffed with what I see so far

Yeah I quite liked the idea too, and I reckon that striped ebony on the headstock with a bright blue backlit logo is going to look amazing. Jon originally told me he was working on another switch for the logo to be seperately lit, but I told him I wasn't too fussed about that, he's done me so many favours that, along with the endorsement, I'd be an absolute pig not to be repping him at every available opportunity!

Yeah, and I have already destroyed most of them with beer >.< Another little update, Jon has put the LED's in and he is currently working on backlighting his logo on the headstock with LED's too

I'm with Alex there. And I am sure Jim knows what he is doing, but that bass doesn't really do anything for me. I'm not a big fan of spalted woods and I don't like the shape. And dude, you need to chill
