1. I'd say it has a lovely tone so no problems there. The bass is a 35" scale, and although you barely notice it, sometimes the muscle memory is a touch out, and might be a bit of stretch if you have smaller hands. I think any 5 string would be ideal to get into playing 5 string, and of course I want to sell the bass, but I'd say, if you can, try a 35" if you've got smaller hands. I'm quite reluctant to post. I see you're in North Herts, I'd consider dropping it off/meeting up halfway, but I don't like posting basses.
 2. Sorry to drag up a slightly old topic, but it saves making a new topic. Can anyone with experience of either of these basses comment on the B string? As mentioned before the BTB has a 35" so maybe the B will be a little tighter (my Spector is 35" and the B is amazing), but I really love the look of the SR506 over the BTB and want to trade my Spector towards one!
 3. Well the box says "the most advanced guitar pedalboard ever", so I'd like to argue in favour of a yes!
 4. This is my new pedal board thanks to 'dood' and the very helpful and knowledgeable owner of Symphony Music is Ashton-In-Makerfield! Includes the 'obligatory' night shot.
 5. Thanks for the comments everyone, especially dood! I guess another plus is that the Line6 editor software is USB too, so theres no extra cost of buying a USB-MIDI adaptor. And it's Mac compatible! I'm off to a music shop to try it out now!
 6. *sigh* I like the look and features of both these units but even with a list of pros and cons I can't seem to decide. Zoom b9.1ut Pros

Cheaper - around £279
Z pedal - effectively two pedals in one for controlling effects
Tube - could sound a lot smoother
Better EQ options
Cons

Only for bass
Footswitches. Problems across the current gen Zoom pedals, they go dicky after a while and can't be fixed without replacing microswitches (a big soldering jobby)
Line6 Pod X3 Live Pros

More extensive modelling (mic position etc)
For guitar and bass (and mic) for when I go over to the dark side
Good user support and streams of firmware updates + the ability to share patches over the internet quite easily
Dual tone - could have a clean bass with EQ and then a "dirty" tone all in one patch. Seems to offer greater flexibilty over the wet/dry blend on the Zoom.
Cons

More expensive - around £369
No tube
Seems to have a few audio drop-out/USB issues which only a reboot can solve.
Has anyone had experience with both and could offer their opinions? Or anyone who's used either of these pedals offer some opinions? Proper stuck between the two, and I like to have something set in stone to "aim" for saving. Cheers Karl
 7.
GAS time!
Absolutely! I'm even selling my Spector for one!
 8. D'oh, my local shops don't have any boxes left over, which is a bit of a shame
 9.
Dammit..if only I lived near Wigan!
I'm going to nip to the local music shop and see if they have any boxes. I could ship, I'm just always reluctant to incase anything happens!
 10. For sale is my 4 month old Spector Legend 5 Classic in Dark Cherry. Excellent condition. 35" scale (very nice B string), EMG-SSD pickups, Spector TonePump Jnr with treble and bass controls (boost only) and 2 volumes. Gorgeous body, very comfy when played. I believe the string spacing may be 16.5mm but can't remember off hand. Only selling because I want to get back to basics (I.e a 4 string), but get the strangest suspicion I'll regret selling this on! I'll be looking for £200 including a Warwick RockCase, collection only from Wigan (or may deliver for a small amount of petrol money).
 11.
Great Review and great photos. I've got a vintage V940 I bought of another bass chatter and I love it. It's infinitly better than the cheap fender copy I first bought. The guy that teaches me bass makes bass guitars and has played it. He can get much better sounds out of it than me and he thinks I've got a bargain. I'm now thinking about another bass and this looks more of a bargain than somehting like a rockbass corvette which is the other I quite like.
Glad you're enjoying the bass mate! Just had another look at the V1004DX and I'm sorely tempted. Expect to see a Spector Legend 5 up for sale tomorrow morning!
 12.
Flatwound strings and a piece of foam under the strings by the bridge, then EQ out all the treble and upper mids and most basses should give you what you're looking for - an Epiphone EB-O will do it on the cheap.
How would flats on a jazz/precision sound? If I sold my Spector with little money I could acquire a Squier VM Jazz & Precision (I also want to go back to 4 strings).
 13. I adore a smiley face EQ as much as lots of people seem to hate it. I hate the sound of mids, I like a dull, undefined tone, which makes me wonder why on earth I have a Spector and also makes me wonder what bass I should actually be playing. Anyone care to help?
 14. Cheers mate! Certainly interested here. How would a 2 month old, excellent condition Spector Legend 5 in Dark Cherry sound as a trade item? Excuse the bad picture as it's the only one I have to hand.
 15. Hi mate, playing that exact one! (Even from Bass Merchant, great guys there!). Lovely bass, sounds and feels great. Got quite a tone! Quite aggressive which even though I can tame a little, find it perhaps a touch too much for my band. Outstanding bass for the money, thoroughly recommended (even though I'm considering a trade for a SUB!)
 16. Hi mate, whats the B string like on these? I know 'Ray5s have a nice B (for a 34") and wonder if this is translated into the SUB range? Currently playing a Spector Legend 5 (which would appear to be perfect for a trade) and it has a B I'm very fond of! The Stingray is something that always draws me back and this could be a very good trade!
 17. Come along if you're in the area and fancy coming watching my new band (link in my sig). It's my first gig with this band and also with my Spector so I'm rather excited! The night is kicking off at around 8, we're on at 10.20, and anyone who comes gets a free EP! It's a couple of quid entry but it should be a great night! The New Tavern Menses Street Wigan Town Centre.
 18. I really can't wait for the Sterling range to come out (find out prices etc), as I'd love a Ray 35, natural! Now that's a gorgeous bass!
 19. Hey guys, I'm usually OK figuring out songs, but I'm having a bit of a moment and having trouble tabbing out a short section of a song called "What Are You Waiting For?" by a band called Brigade. Song here: www.myspace.com/brigade Everything's fine other than the pre-verse/verse (0:12 - 0:40). If anyone can help me it'd be VERY much appreciated. The song is in Drop D. Cheers, Karl.
 20. Very much so, used it to drive the power amp section of my Peavey combo.
 21. Thanks for the positive comments!
