1.
Karl if your young and have plenty of lifting in you i have a warwick 611 pro, which as i am not young and have no lifting in me have had to replace with 2 warwick neos, have always found warwicks great value for money it's a great cab but my poor old back won't take any more, in wigan myself let me know if it's of any interest there could be a bargain to be had. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=14563 cheers steve
Ah bloody hell! Another bargain, right down the road and I can't bloody afford it! It's gonna be the end of July/early August when I start seriously looking (my car needs a service, new clutch and 4 new tyres when I get back too, along with another years rip-off insurance 'coz I'm under 25!). You have no idea how much this is killing me, I like the look of both the Mesa and the Warwick cabs. Gah. GAH!
2. In my old 4-piece punk band it was basically a diamond shape, with the frontman slightly offset to one side and the drummer the same. Me and the other guitarist were in line slightly behind the front man. I always ended up on stage left (on the right looking at the stage) for some reason. A lot of places we played gigs at had their own bass amps/DI set up and it always seemed to be on the left. I'm not fussed where I stand. One gig I was in the middle (as though I was the front man) and the singer was on my right, other guitarist on my left (all lined up, small stage)! Now that was weird!
3. I must thank you all for the input! It was interesting reading about the Epi/all valve head. While it would be ok with just a valve pre-amp, does anyone have any suggestions to decent cabs? I'd be happy with a 410 (I'm only young and have plenty of lifting in me yet!) so weight isn't too much of an issue. It can't be too expensive though
4.
Thanks Joe - and only 15 minutes from Wigan
Ah typical, I don't actually have much in the way of spare cash 'till I get back from sea. I'm just hoping to get some ideas, or a final "plan" down ready for when I get back from sea (it will also keep me going if I'm not enjoying my time on ship!).
5. Hey guys. In about a month, I'm off to sea for 4 months (work) and when I get back around July I'm hoping to get myself a new bass and rig together. The plan is to get a DHA VT2 Bass Rack Mount pre-amp, and hook it up to a power amp (and chuck a tuner in the rack for good measure). I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice with which power amps would be best suitable, and any to avoid? I'm not after a stupid amount of power (I'm not even in a band let alone a gigging band, but would like the option once I've finished my training and got some free time), but enough that I could easily play up to a medium sized gig without having to buy any new gear! I was also thinking of the cab to buy, and a lot of people on BC seem to be very happy with their Epifani cabs! I think a UL310 would be most suitable as, again, I'm not after a massive 810 Ampeg rig. I was wondering if anyone would be able to offer me any advice on where to pick them up/price range etc. Many thanks in advance, Karl.
6.
Hi Karl, It sounds like a good feature so I will add it to the design at no extra cost. Dave
That would be amazing! It's only going to be August when I buy as I'm going away to sea for 4 months (come back to a nice 4 figure sum sat in the bank ) but I will definitely buy after hearing only good things! Cheers, Karl.
7. I was just wondering if DHA offered customizing options to the VT2 Bass RM? Come summer I'm looking at getting a rack together, and I planned on it being quite a basic rack, with a tuner, pre-amp (hopefully DHA) and a power amp. I was wondering if it was possible to add a switchable output to a tuner, that would also mute the main output, and be switchable from the pedal? How much would this add to the cost? Thanks in advance for any help! Karl
8. I'll join the "can't sing for toffee" group. I'd love to be able to do backing or lead vocals, but singing is the only thing that's evaded me. Ah well eh?
9. Don't be afraid to delve straight in with the 5 strings, although I would advise trying a couple out first! They will feel a little weird but nothing a few horus playing won't fix. My first bass was a 5 string and I've had a 4 and a 5 string since then, now only left with 4. I want 5 strings again =[
10. I definately second going for a FireWire mixer, you'll thank yourself later!
11. Listening to my favourite band Strung Out, bassist is Chris Aiken.
