1. It took a while to get here, but after my first few days with this pedal I thought I'd post my impressions! Build Quality: 9 - Absolutely outstanding. Sturdy case that could certainly stand some abuse. Pots are secure and have a nice feeling to them (not loose, so hold settings very well), and switches have a satisfying "click" to them, especially the foot switch (it's true bypass). The pedal itself weighs a lot less than you'd expect, especially on first glance, but this is by no means a bad thing! Looks: 10 - I think it looks really cool. I'm sure most have you have seen the paint job, and I love the real custom vibe that it gives off. The blue LED behind the valve and the really bright blue operation LED finish off the look, and all my band members were impressed! Sound: 9 - The range of sounds from this pedal is incredible. From smooth bass tones to a really gritty overdrive, it's all there! I started with the unit flat and the tone controls on my Spector on flat, and went from there. The EQ controls are very responsive and little adjustments yield big changes in the sound (I believe you get +/-12dB adjustment from each pot). One of the best features of the EQ is the "Q" pot, that adjusts the mid frequency. It took me a little while to find the "sweet" spot, but once it was there it sounded amazing. I had the I/P pad set quite low as the output from my Spector is quite hot, and I set it so I started to get valve break-up from about the 2 oclock position on the gain pot. The valve break-up itself is lovely and warm, and I was very impressed. Adding Boost with the switch (controlled by the Boost pot) added to the sound even more, and flipping the "colour" switch added a lot of gain/fuzz to the sound, and some really nice sounds are to be gained. Practical use: 9 - I think the sheer range of sounds on it's own make this a worthy addition to anyones pedal board. I ran a line cable from the laptop to the line in of the pedal, and then headphones into the headphone socket, and this made the box into a perfect practise amp (with the added bonus of it being silent for anyone else in your household!). The DI is silent as you like (also tried it at band practise through our PA), and the level control pot is a handy addition (I imagine the sound guy would like this, as long as you don't set it too hot). I'm very impressed with the pedal, but unfortunately, it didn't sit quite right with the bands sound. After about 9 hours fiddling, there was something to the sound that didn't sit quite right. This may sound hypocritical (especially after the glowing review, but believe me, this pedal is outstanding) but I'm not sure I'll be keeping the pedal. My main application is of course the band, and I feel I got the wrong idea of the sound I was after, and because of this I can't justify keeping the pedal. Despite this, I'd heartily recommend the DHA pedal to anyone, and Dave is great guy who quickly responded to any questions from me.

3. Girls Aloud - Can't Speak French Really need a synth pedal....
4. I quite like the Behringer Limiter/Enhancer, it's working well for me now, but will be upgrading to a BBE OptoStomp as soon as I can afford it.
5.
+1 I think more than a few gentlemen feel the same, surely a serious contender for best looking Basschatter in the other thread?
+2!

7. Well done mate, had a couple of Vintage basses and guitars, very good brand, especially for the money. Congrats!
Nice one Karl. Only had time to watch the first YT vid but something to be proud of mate! Good luck with it.
Thanks mate!
9. Played it last night with the band, and what a sound! I can't wait to hook it up to my DHA pedal (once it's completed and with me) and get some tube loveliness with it. I got an almost 'pick' sound with my fingers and it was just what it was after. This is the first bass I've been entirely happy with. Although I must say the old muscle memory is requiring a bit of a re-jig, as my last 5 string was a 34" with 19mm spacing and the Spector is a 35" with 17mm spacing. Doesn't sound so much but I occasionally don't go far enough down the neck to get frets 1 and 2.
10. Welcome back! I've missed your avatar!
11. Certainly made me smile! Looks like that's in Skelmersdale.
12. Hi Rich. I believe it's the Tone Pump Jnr. with treble/bass boost only. This bass is so lovely! Now to await my DHA pedal and next pay day so I can buy a BBE OptoStomp and then I'm all set!
13. +1, well done on everyone involved in sorting out the whole thing. *hands round virtual pints/water/whatever your poison is*
14. All I can say is: *fap fap fap* I don't have a decent camera, and I really don't think a camera could even capture the beauty of the finish on this bass. I can't put it down. Big thanks to Darren and Chris at Bass Merchant
15. HAD to go for the red (pic stolen from a TB topic): Should be with me tomorrow, although I'm working 9-5. I'm sure it'll be a slow day
16. Now to add the agonizing choice between the red or blue quilt. *enters GAS dilemma*
17. Good news, I have now sold my iMac, and having played a Legend 5 again, I'm in no doubt as to what I'll buy! I think I'm in love! Will post some pictures when I get it for those who are interested

My band!
Solid song writing, solid professional perfofrmances from all concerned (except the cameraman!). A good set, karl. Well done.
Thanks for the positive comments! I think the camera work (we all shared the responsibility) was just a spur of the moment thing, or just bits randomly shot; we saw it as the best medium to get across the previews of the new songs we included. Thanks again.

DHA into....
I thought the same as you Kev, but having said that, my amp does have a loop, as well as a preamp out and poweramp input. You wouldn't have both if there was no difference at all?
The Peavey TKO I'm using is the same, and using either of them doesn't let me use the master volume as a control (volume depends entirely on the output from whatever is going into the poweramp)
20. Hey all, thank you for all the suggestions. I've decided to go with a Spector Legend 5 in Dark Cherry. Again, thanks for all the input, now I just have to sell my damn iMac so I can afford to buy it!
21. In the coming weeks I'll be after a new bass (if and when I manage to get my iMac sold, see sig ), and I'm giving myself up to around £400 to spend. I'm after a bass that gives a nice smooth tone, but also the option of a bit of treble for a couple of more upbeat numbers my band does (again, see sig if you wanna have a listen and maybe make suggestions from that). I really like Mike Kroegers tone, especially in some of the slower Nickelback numbers ('Photograph' and 'Someday' come to mind). I know Mike uses Spector but they're a bit out of the price range. It'll be run into a BBE OptoStomp and a DHA VT1-EQ-Bass-Drive. I have my eye on the Ibanez SR505, and that comes in at just a fraction under £400. I could get a Warwick Rockbass Corvette 5 for £400 too. A really nice B string is a must as I have a few stand out notes in some of our new songs, and I really need a nice B. Let the suggestions fly! Cheers, Karl.

DHA into....
isn't plugging the dha into the effects return effectivly the same as running straight into a power amp?
D'oh! Yes it is! I blame the lack of food... I'm just thinking in terms of getting a bigger rig together, and was hoping to be able to just buy a power amp (Behringer/Peavey) and get a 410 cab etc, and run straight from the DHA to a power amp.

DHA into....

I've just ordered myself a DHA VT1-EQ-Bass-Drive, and was just wondering how everyone else hooked theirs up to an amp? I feel the most logical solution would be to plug straight into the FX return/power amp in of the Peavey TKO115 I'm using at the moment, and just wondered if everyone else did this? Or does anyone else plug into the normal input of the amp and have a flat EQ, or perhaps run straight into a power amp (Is the DHA capable of driving a power amp, if so, that certainly makes a bigger rig in the future a lot easier?)? Cheers, Karl.
24. +1 on the Zoom. I used to plug it into my laptop with a USB cable, and then I played along with songs/backing tracks played on the laptop, all through headphones. Very handy, hoping to get a similar setup with the DHA pedal I've just ordered!
