The lad has a 4 string version. Not sure if its a licence thing but its all wood (as opposed to the all synthetic Curbow). Highly unfashionable, I'm sure, but he's not into relic/vintage etc. Its a really nice bass, get used the small body and it plays very well indeed with a big sound and lots of variance with the active. They go ridiculously cheap and he's extremely proud (protective!) of it.
Assume your talking about the Tanglewood Curbow there? The synthetic body ones are made by Cort (Cort Curbows). Curbow itself is the hand-made real-deal.

very, very interesting. I've never played a tanglewood that hasn't impressed me (for the price). adding overwater, entwistle and east to the mix and you have the ingrediants for something pretty special!

i saw a bright orange jazz there when i went up last month. jon seemed particularly proud of how it was gonna look when it was all put together, unfortunatly it wasn't at the time i was there..

sold a beautifull overwarter custom deluxe (IIRC) 5. was a heavy player at the time and the overwater was deffinitly one where you 'coax' the tone out. playing how i play now it would suit me down to the ground, but as with most, the sale paid for other great things so swings and roundabouts

one of the Art tube mike DI boxes would probably suit you down to the ground. adds (IMHO) a sublime warm yet tight tone to your bass and could (as far as i'm aware, i've done it) straight into a poweramp.

How Can You Justify Spending £5,350 on a New Bass??
wotnwhy replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
How is it possible to justify that spend on a new bass? And how in the name of Enid Blyton can BGM give it four out of five stars for Value For Money?
do you need justify your spendings if you have the money? as for the 4 stars for VFM, that certainly sounds a bit crazy! -

He had a wanted add up for a multi effects pedal, wanted to meet in person to buy it, and got it. so someone on the forum has met him? also he mentions being scammed out of £180... :/
And hugely EXPENSIVE I imagine! lol! Congrats!
Well the bass was free (this time, i had to pay for it when i first picked it up 6 years ago..), the rig was extremely well priced for a nearly new, flightcased setup
How heavy is that 6X10? My friend had a 4X10 and it was a bugger to lift.
don't know actual figures, but in it's (wheeled) flightcase i can get it into the van on my own. and out of the flightcase it has a tiltback/castor setup. after being used to neo 2x12's (at the biggest) i was genuinely suprised at how easy it all was to move around. haven't had any steps yet though!
I've just picked up a 90's SWR Bass 750 (pre Fender) and I'd be really interested to hear it along side a newer 750X...
Me too! i'm sure there's someone on here who has experience with both

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/petedemps13/ I just bought an SWR 750X and Golliath Snr 6x10 cab, all flightcased, for a very reasonable price from this seller. He's in ireland but was coming over on the ferry (which docks right on my doorstep) so delivered the amp. He's a top bloke, very nice to chat to. He runs a touring/hire company and is having a spring clean. He tells me he has much more stuff to go up, but is staggering putting them up so his will be a page to visit more than once! I'm just very happy with my deal so thought it only right to give you all a heads up on him!

Picked up my Shuker on Sunday and the SWR rig on Tueseday right before a jam. To go from an OLP and 1x12 combo to this was a HUUUUGELY enjoyable experience!

How the hell do some people treat their basses?!
wotnwhy replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I don't really know why but it makes me angry. I don't like people who have no respect for things, I make assumptions they treat people and animals like that too. Is it me being very judgemental as usual? or do I have a point?
My equipment usually ends up in state one way or another. The state of my Shuker almost made one man cry (i don't see several dings and dents and one crack as all that bad, but some do! ). It is not because i treat things with disrespect, but rather that i see then as inanimet objects or tools, and so do not 'nurse' them. when i'm loading equipment into the van at 3am (instead of 1am because of pissed bandmates), looking at a 2 hour drive home and have work in the morning then my focuss isn't on being carefull with my equipment, thats not to say of course that i'm rough with it. i think making the assumptions that they treat people and animals like that too is deffinitly judgemental. i can't speak for everyone else, but my job is caring for people on the autistic spectrum, big job little thanks, i do it because i love it. i currently volunteer 14 hours a week doing creative writing workshops in schools because i believe young people aren't given enough oppertunity to learn the importance of expression. oh, and my best friend is a dog... so in at least one case, your judgement would be wrong. so maby reserve said judgement till you meet the people. then judge at will! -
