1. Personally I'm excited to try them. The Darkglass stuff never really worked for me, so I'm keen to see if he's taken the ideas in a direction that better suits me. I think 3leaf stuff is great. The Groove Regulator was me of my favourite filters ever. I've no issue with the business practices here. It may have been nice for him to give Doug a heads up in advance, but then if they had a business falling out, communication is likely low on their radars. I say good luck to Spencer. I'm sure the pedals will rock.
2. Totally normal. The hiss is always there. If you have the drive cranked it gets louder. The high pitched noise is common with this style of analogue gear. I experienced it with the FreqBox as well. Basically the pedal is revealing the noise floor... I found that this changed with power location, so go power up in a different house/building and you won't hear. Do it somewhere else and it will sound louder. More noticeable if you have other pedals in the chain as well. It's all character
3. Listing says LS-2, but the photo is a PS-2. Which is actually for sale? Cheers.
4. It's all shades of mine
5. Beautiful!! What is the action like? I'm not a big fan of this bridge style when it comes to action and intonation... But this is very tempting!
6. Met Kev today. Did a bass for amp/cab trade. The deal was flawless, communication top notch, he's an awesome dude, and..... He didn't even mind having Almond milk in his tea (he may have even liked it!). What more could I ask for! Enjoy the bass buddy.
7.
Thanks Shep... obviously a man of taste. I think the CSE basses were a limited run commissioned by Doctor Bass (Spain) - link below - who seem to sell a lot of Marleaux instruments. But only available with the chrome hardware. I'd probably include both sets with the bass if somebody was keen; but they've been on BC for a while now so might re-hash the listing(s) individually :- http://www.doctorbass.net/en/buscador/?cadena1=marleaux&submit=
Very cool. I've been a fan of their basses since I tried one a couple of years ago. Marleaux is high on my list of bass to upgrade too when the Prometeus sells. Thanks for that link too! Not much info out there about the CSE's, but when mentioned there doesn't seem to be a bad word about them!
8. Bump! Thanks for the trade offers folks. I am interested in putting some cash towards a deal and 'trading up', but please, no offers of instruments valued much over £1k please. Most offers have been well out of my reach
9. Love the CSE with black hardware... It just looks mean!
10. NOW TRADED Up for grabs is my Prometeus Concertogrosso. This only came to me recently, after nearly 3 months of trying my best to get my hands on it. I'm in a state of bass flux at the moment since selling my Roscoe, and floating from instrument to instrument. I had a great feeling about this one, and whilst it ticks many of the boxes for me - it's very small, very light and extremely well balanced - it's neck profile is not to my preference (I like very slim and flat... Something that not many basses do), and so I'm going to move it on to continue my quest! This was the prototype for the Concertogrosso model line. Like all Prometeus basses, it was hand built in Italy. It's been well played, but is in good cosmetic condition with just light marks throughout (a few on the back which are almost invisible thanks to the grain, and some marks where the picking finger has been rested etc). Here is the spec... Prometeus Concertogrosso Prototype 30" Scale Flamed Ash body Flamed Ash neck (set neck) Padouk fretboard Wenge Top Volume & Passive Tone Custom Alnico5 Pickup - 8 coils (2 per string) all wired in series, for high output. It's a passive bass with the output of an active bass! 2-way truss rod Warwick hardware. The Concertogrosso line is well suited for higher turnings and Piccolo setups etc, but is happy to be tuned E-G (it currently is) so long as the strings are not too heavy. Access to the upper register is excellent and the bass plays fast. Tonally speaking the passive tone control really shifts between two core tones, both are very usable, one with a touch of sparkle - this bass has a MEAN slap tone - and one slightly warmed and more 'old school'. It has enough versatility to sit in most live band mixes. The bass fits happily in a regular guitar case, and a good quality leather case is included. I am asking [s]£480 collected[/s] NOW TRADED!! I will ship overseas at your cost. TRADES: I may be interested in trades so long as the bass does not say Fender on it, or resemble a J or P! Try me. I may also be interested in trading up towards something worth more, and adding cash into the deal (particularly if it's 32-33" scale or slim necked - but I'll consider anything) up to about £1000 in value. Get in touch!!! Will also consider trades/part-ex for synths, particularly a Moog SubPhatty. And trades towards pedals and effects. Pics... 11. Bump, and a price drop to £600!!
12.
This looks really cool. Always taking out my fretted & fretless on gigs & this would solve my indecision.
It would certainly pose a solution for that, as long as you don't need the lower strings on your fretless too much!
13. NOW SOLD!!! As I am feeling restless again... I thought I'd put up for sale the instrument I owned, sold, and then said if I got my hands on one again, would never sell again... Ha. Ibanez Ashula. This was a limited edition from 2010, very few made, and very unique. It appears to be a 6 string bass, but is in fact a 4 string fretted bass, with the D and G strings repeated in a fretless board! Very very interesting, and literally like nothing else. This has a few dents and scratches and a touch of finger wear on the pups, but nothing major, and nothing that effects the playing. The neck is excellent and very slim. It's set up with a very low action, and plays beautifully. The pick ups were designed for this bass, and have one of the best tones I've heard from an Ibanez, and the fact the fretless strings have their own pickup and tone stack, you can get 2 distinct tones from the same bass at the same time. Search YouTube and Google and you'll find plenty of info, and not a bad word - you'll also see that there are only a handful of these about. Here is an example - http://youtu.be/Lw3N_S92Wa0 Currently strung with an almost new set of D'adarrio XL Nickels. With this is included a flight case - heavy duty bombproof carry case. I'm asking £600 collected from Derby. I'd prefer not to ship, but will consider it, at buyers cost. People are welcome to come and try her out. I have seen a couple of basses on basschat I'm interested in, but will consider trades on anything nice that's 30 or 32" in scale, 4 or 5 string. Also interested in single cuts, and possibly a Warwick Thumb Bolt On. Definitely no J or P basses. If it even closely resembles a Fender, I'm not interested! I'd also consider a Moog SubPhatty. 14. I still really love this bass, i've looked at it so many times it's driving me nuts. I'm right on the verge of putting my Ibanez Ashula up for sale to get my hands on it! Correction... I've put it up for sale. It's calling me.
15. Breaks me heart seeing this up for sale again. I've been trying to avoid the for sale section so I don't need to keep thinking about it! One day it'll be mine again!
16.
Sort of reminds me of Sisters of Mercy
Interesting. I wonder if Tim if a fan of them... I shall find out. Not an influence of mine for sure, but I kinda get what your saying
17. A new EP, from a new project, and one where I actually play the bass again, rather then pushing buttons and programming crazy noises!! It's been a while since I played 'bass' that sounded like a bass, but the song writing of the talented Tim Myers persuaded me to get stuck into it again. Detuned, grinding bass tone (with the odd light flurry of effects... it is me after all!), pitched against some dark, brooding and claustrophobic soundscapes. It's been fun being a part of this. I Hope at least one of you dig it. rāˈkĭs is for fans of - A Perfect Circle, Sunna, Karnivool, The Smashing Pumpkins, 30 Seconds To Mars. 18. Let me know if the sale falls through!
19. A COG Effects branded box arrived at Shep HQ today. In it is a (very) small pedal marked as 'prototype - gimme your feedback'. Well OK then...
20. No. There are a couple of bands we agree on, generally in the chill out/electronica realm (Lamb, Submotion Orchestra, Boards of Canada, Baths) but outside that, nope. She really can't stand the music I make... but is supportive all the same. My Ex-wife was into all the same stuff as me... and look where that got us!
21. If you want half decent, all in one, then the Line 6 M13 is about as good as it gets from an all in one. I've tried the G-System on bass, and it's good. The effects are impressive, as you'd expect from TC. In terms of 'audio quality', I'd put it way up high, especially if you can snag one of the iB Modified versions (that buffer just sings on bass)... But the M13 has more versatility than any other multi out there IMO. It's not the greatest sounding, but 99% of your audience won't know the difference. It's patch saving is great, and it'll allow multiple patches at your feet without problem, and up to 4 effects at once in any order. You could go Axe FX II if you want seriously impressive, or even run Guitar Rig from a MacBook/Laptop... But for the money, and what it sounds like your needs are... Go M13
