Great picture of the henge , it looks awesome! Our gig was a 30th party , and everyone was outside on the balcony and in the gardens of the clubhouse for the first set , apart from the kids , son we played to them. A few came in our Adele number so we shuffled the set to keep them there for another 3 songs before our break. the second set was much better as it got dark and the bands lights made more of an impact for the party atmosphere. I was using a couple of extra LED cans and bought a Ryger foot controller and I reckon that when I get a bit more familiar with it ,it will be brilliant . We blooded a couple of new ones which went down quite well and at the end the hostess decided that she wanted a photo of herself wearing my hat , then my shirt , I had a spare T so that was cool , but she loved it. we have a 3 week break now as we have a few holidays lined up then 3 packed at the start of August , then September weekends are chocker
Saw this once at a comedy club, the comic held up his hands for quiet, looked straight at heckler and said "let's all wait for her to think up a really good heckle"
Sorry dude , can't help you , you're the one being paid to be funny !
Now then, now then, now then...... I'm working on something but I've been travelling a lot with work so I may not get it finished. Hopefully though. Fingers crossed.
Just thinking on , I could let you re-do the vocal on mine if you like Now, if that doesn't get you pulling your finger out , nothing will

Hopeless live sound - all the gear, no idea.
lurksalot replied to The Admiral's topic in General Discussion
No. I'm always wary of coming off like an arse in situations like this, and I'm very conscious of how this looks from their side - some random bloke from a pub audience telling them how to use their gear. It's the kind of thing which turns up in the 'How was your gig last night?' thread on here all the time! They also had a table full of WAGs and mates with them, plus a few people who were there specifically to see them, who were lapping it up, so it didn't seem as if it would have landed too well. So frustrating though, particulalyr as, if I put my 'producer's' hat in, I could also have given them some input on the arrangements and general performance too! I would definitely have suggested the guitarist swap his semi for a telecaster, or something solid bodied and suitably 'cool' - and whether he could be persuaded to do so or not, certainly go for an overdriven Muddy Waters type sound - which would have worked far better. I don't know if they were going for a kind of Eddie Cochran/Rockabilly guitar sound, but it didn't come off - not aided by DI'ing the guitar : far better to have played with a small back line amp, which would have taken a lot of the mush out of the PA sound too, as it wouldnt have been competing for the mid range.
I think it is one thing to offer some help with the overall sound that you can hear at the back of the room , but telling them they are using the wrong type of guitar and have the wrong image would be a touch indelicate -
Sat waiting to play at a Welsh rugby clubs summer ball , there is a guy called john devereux going on forever about rugby stories and we are supposed to be done by 12.00 and I don't think we will start until 11.30 . So I reckon we will just have time for a few verses of 'swing low sweet chariot'. Do you think we will get out in one piece

cheers , there are loads of daft rhymes in there , I actually looked at some of the rapping technique , a lot of it is very clever , I can't listen to much of it for very long, but clever nevertheless innit
-
cheers young fella my lad, I have now had a listen through to all the others so far , and yes , some superb stuff in there , very listenable and enjoyable. well done all so far
-
Cheers Dad Well I don't think I can give it much more, and I have a few more things to do this month , so it will be as it will be .... Lawyer https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/lawyer I hope you enjoy , PS this is the radio edit there is one naughty word which has had a few db cut so as not to prove to rude

write a song called 'get on with it' , every time she shouts it , play a few bars , by the end of the gig it will either be a good laugh or someone will have been kicked out, either you the the heckler

I have had real problems with this one , I had an idea but Lurksalittle had a brilliant idea , but alas it came to nought , but worse than that , I had set the musical scene for her idea and was left to do something with it. I was on verge of throwing the towel in this month as it was so out of my depth, I was getting nowhere and it was really getting me down. I just had one last go at it this evening and have seen a bit of light , so it is game on again . This one is very odd , normally I cobble something up and have a bit of fun , this has felt like hard work , it could be the subject matter of course , but at least I am moving forward with it again

Focusrite scarlet is very simple to use and helps to bring a knowledge that it works easily. I don't know anything about the line 6 stuff , but use the scarlet very regularly.
-
That looks brilliant , but I am not sure I would get to use it , I am sure it would just reinforce a label of 'all the gear , no idea' on my studio door
-
I am sorry , but I cannot agree with your opening gambit on this , anyone who submits a composition with me in the field, has the opportunity to laugh /cringe/ or shed a little tear at the shear indulgence of 'amateur rubbish vocalist' in its purist form . The trick is to enjoy the process , and as I firmly believe , it's not my voice that is a touch toneless ...........it's everybody else's ears On an aside , I never listen to any of the entries until mine is done...................................................... only so that when I produce my masterpiece I cannot be accused of plagarism That said , Lurksalittle and her mate are not exactly hurrying with their ideas , so I might yet end up doing my own thing
-
And further I would say that the pieces that I put up and like the best ,tend to get more listens , one thing that does happen though, is that when I play a tune on soundcloud then it plays another straight after , and invariably it picks one from your playlist Rob

Looking good , and better still ... sounding good , or not sounding at all if that makes sense

I think Lurksalittle might take the driving seat with this one , she has had an idea , and might actually be doing some work on it !!

This Sometimes stuff just works and it seems miraculous , I am very much growing into the camp that believes it is worth getting kit that does the job, rather than to spend time and effort on workarounds which invariably do no more than teach you that it is best to get the kit that just works in the first place.

excellent picture A normal day in the Lurks family life .... Funny enough , I asked Lurksalittle if she would work on this months with me , she said "only if it is a picture of me" well, after the last couple of weeks , this picture could be Definitely raucous is my first train of thought * * the usual caveat that the whole train of thought is subject to appropriatte derailment as normal

Well done that Boy , Great track brilliantly sung , a very worthy winner A further pat on the back to all the entries , another quality month of new music

I think I can associate myself with those remarks Reaper is just superb , but I would suggest that it is not 'intuitive' . To a new user of recording software and the process , I would argue that non are actually intuitive , the first steps are definitely the hardest , but I would agree that Reaper has fantastic support, from the Cockos forums which are very helpful through to the You Tube tutorials which hold your hand through nearly any function you need and loads you never even thought of , so while slow small steps are the way to proceed , with Reaper you will find plenty of help.

I have a number I have bought over the years , but rather than put them under the bed I just hang them on a wall now, they look quite good and are like living photographs , they remind me of stuff that happened when I used them , and I can still pick them off a hanger and play them whenever I want to .
OK, to the one with the most donkeys in it...
Or as a bonus to the first track entered

If a voter has actually identified a run away favourite for themselves , it might mean that they read the rules as if they could use up to 3 votes but choose just 1 , you yourself lamented that the 3 votes could not go on 1 entry , therefore casting just 1 vote would actually provide sole benefit to the track of preference
