  1. are you ready to rumble ...... well, lets get ready to rumble ... and......... RUMBLE
  2. Its voting time again and the inspirational image was chosen by last months winner, @skankdelvar who is on a roll, and is approaching the hallowed ground of a treble! I'm no stato , but that's a rare thing round these parts , however we have some serious challengers for you to consider . some notes provided by the man himself... Before radar was perfected, aircraft were detected using acoustic locators which enhanced and amplified the sound of an aircraft's engine. The smallest version was a pair of acoustic mirrors which the user strapped either side of his head. Please Choose your favourite 3 entries from the following. 1 @Dad3353 I was lucky, as I remembered this case from some decades ago, having read an article in the Boy's Own Paper of the time. The first successful human biological re-engineering, which enabled this man, born into a human body but with his real nature that of a fennic, to at last reconcile his psyche with his physical appearance. Early days for these medical miracles, but the operations and treatments finally enabled the fellow to become the creature that his mind had always known himself to be. 2 @Doctor J This has come together influenced by a few recent things of note, like the "Three on E" thread, a trip to Berlin and a bout of Covid. Four is one more than three and more is more, says Yngwie, so four it is. The bass riff came a bit too easily so I hope I haven't subconsciously pilfered it from somewhere. I can't place it, though. 3 @Leonard Smalls I thought - that geezer's got some serious phones: feel the weight, feel the sound, heavy pressure's going down! 4 @fingers211 A simple ditty really. The poor chap hears all the twaddle the world and it's media have to offer. 5 @NickD Started with the idea of how in modern times a whisper can be heard around the world, then got into the idea that a dumb meme travels much faster than anything involving hard reality... and just developed from there. 6 @upside downer Our hero is doing his bit for the war effort but he keeps on picking up sounds from the wild and wonderful world of pop music. Nonetheless, he'll do his very best until he can have a well earned drinks break. 7 Lurksalot it's a bit on the simple side and I got lost a few times even doing this. Mercifully no singing this time just some speakage! 8 @Nail Soup The picture made me think of eavesdropping... did a bit of research and found stuff like a quote from Thornton Wilder (me neither!) : "There's nothing like eavesdropping to show you that the world outside your head is different from the world inside your head". Built up the lyrics with such ideas. God knows where the music came from 🙂! 9 @skankdelvar Basically the song's about something but I'm not sure exactly what. Probably something grim some brilliant, humourous and well observed compositions again this month , fair play So it's your favourite 3 then Voting will end at midnight Saturday 30th April Good Luck All
  3. I'm done then , itys a bit on the simple side and I got lost a few times even doing this ! Mercifully no singing this time just some speakage and plenty of dodgy guitar work ! I used a couple of freesound soundFX to give it some direction but its all ive got .
  4. should he be finger’s211 😜😁
  5. I’ve done a silly one , I’ve tried to be all cool and clever recently , and it doesn’t seem to suit 😂 so daft is due ... a few tweaks yet 😁
  6. OK guys ....... woo hoo dive in
  7. Congratulations to @skankdelvar who is on a roll, and , as it happens, after doing a double, is approaching the hallowed ground of a treble! I'm no stato , but that's a rare thing. Without further ado .......... Before radar was perfected, aircraft were detected using acoustic locators which enhanced and amplified the sound of an aircraft's engine. The smallest version was a pair of acoustic mirrors which the user strapped either side of his head. Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded this month. ✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ✖️ No Bagpipes. please no bagpipes, the April fool's day truce now Expired. panpipes only if you have too. ✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. A line or two offering an insight to your inspiration/track choice will be good as well , it works nicely on the voting thread. The Deadline for entries is Midnight on St Georges day , Sat 23rd April good luck everyone
  8. I have the Photo 👍 I need to pop out for a few hours and will set up the thread on my return 🎤🎤
  9. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again , it’s a superb set of entries , much respect to everyone who has a crack at these challenges it’s incredible what gets put together in just 24 days . Absolutely fantastic!
  10. Many thanks Nick i could blame a tough week and getting home late and falling asleep , or I could fess up and say I shared a couple of pints in the local on the way home and forgot to tick the box on the poll 😳 it should be good now 👍
  11. It is time for the formalities of deciding the next monthly champion and after due congratulations to @skankdelvar , who is finding his groove with style, he chose the following image for the March challenge. It is now incumbent on the BC massive to pick their favourite 3 Your choices are as follows .... 1. @Dad3353 It was the colours that inspired, with thoughts of voices from the East; will they ever be heard again..? Where are they, right now..? To be played quite loud, to drown out the thud of cannons. 2. @Nail Soup Daffodils always remind me of a works trip to a daffodil festival. The organiser has a son with some kind of nuerotype which leads to argumentative behaviour, which is very difficult for his parents. This is one of the few works trips he didn't come on. That is one of the topics covered. 3. lurksalot A few observations put together in an oddish sort of time , reflections of simpler things maybe 4. @NickD Inspired by the colours, the times in which we live, the thought of bits of kids being sent to do a job that's not at all what they were told, and the story of a very brave old woman. 5. @Leonard Smalls Here's a bit of jazzy groove with a soporific feel. Or not! Either way, it's inspired by Frank Bough eating daffs on Nationwide 😁 6. @Nicko Inspired by the Latin name for the daffodil, Narcissus which led me to write something about those people that rate themselves too highly. 7. @skankdelvar Just a song about daffodils. They're pretty. 8. @SH73 The song is called Diedfordills , unsure if lyrics have any meaning 9. @upside downer An instrumental with a slow and steady beat, a chilled feel and the wish that we'd all kick off our tight shoes, grab a tipple of whatever takes our fancy, smell the flowers and try and enjoy our time on this crazy old world with our fellow travellers in time and space. 10. @MoonBassAlpha It's a spring-like, yearning, germinating thing. Or something! ymmv! Well that's your lot , and a jolly good lot they are too! choose your favourite 3 Voting will close at midnight on 31st March , which I believe is a Thursday,.... It is ... yes its a Thursday good luck to all
  12. Well, the machine turned itself off last night , the chord from the external power pack barely reaches between the floor and the machine and thus strains the connection. it’s going back. I’ll have to start over again .
  13. It might be me , but I always thought that tubleweeds tubled 😁
  14. That was a test after last months fun and games 😉 I was probably looking at last years calendar , I do hate throwing things away 😂 yes though, as @Dad3353 suggests, we will run with 24th 👍
  15. Oh man , I’m way off retirement, but still seem to have my dates and days in a mess 😂
  16. As a complete contrast , the izotope and eventide products installed as sweet as a nut , not that quick to actually do it all , but much less of a faff. this might be that I got into the swing of it , or more like the instructions actually worked . game on now, on the super fast new toy 👍
  17. way hay , a great chance of mine sounded alright then Dad , you'll be a fan soon , I'll send a signed photo When I have found out how to transfer some more FX onto my new machine, I'll run this ERA one over it as well
  18. Weighed in , weighed in ...waves products are now loaded and working on the new machine . That was hard work but I am a novice at this stuff , and hopefully will last another 10 years or so before I have to do it again ! now for the izotope, kontact, and all the other bits and pieces of random software that I occasionally use 😂
  19. I've kept this one light of FX to ease the load on my machine before the plunge into the new one goes past the point of no return A few observations put together in an oddish sort of time , reflections of simpler things maybe
  20. I’ve got the old machine back up , by the same process I might get the new one running with any luck. download the offline ‘downloaded’ and install each vst ...individually 🤦‍♂️ ed to add entry now rendered 😂
  21. I don’t feel so bad now having read that the brand is a proper pain in the arris ! the b1tch is that they were pretty much my go to FX and splashed all over this months entry , which I haven’t rendered to wav yet. now I know that the tutorials are utter bollox and I might have lost them , I will try some random approaches and see what happens. If I have less expectation, the disappointment and anger will probably be tamed a touch !
  22. All went well .... reaper ✅ focusrite✅ ASIO✅ Waves plugins ...oh bollocks , checked all the tutorials and it seems so straightforward except non of it is doing what it should and now I can’t access the licenses or plug ins on either machine totally racked off , 4 hrs and I just want to through the f**king lot away rant will continue at some point when I can face trying again
