2.
I like the white with maple neck & tort guard look Interesting that they call it a 'player's' bass - for some reason that makes me think it's not in as good condition as a 'collector's' bass? Could just be the old sceptic in me again! If the straight trade deal looks very favourable to their list price then that would raise a few doubts too. . .
Im a sceptic too B...Mine field Vintage Fenders
3.
What are you trading with them?
One of these...difficult one to gauge...im still not sure as the CS is a very special Jazz and there is only 100 in the world...price wise they want £2250 for the 77. which i high IMO.. 6. This thread is prob not going to be popular as not so many people like em as in the US..but i cant get enough This guy is amazing..an unknown that poss plays for a church in the US..or maybe he plays thrash metal or country ...i know hes playing records he knows but what feel the guys got...on a fairly cheap Rouge LX..for me he has flawless groove.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XyTKjtL65o...feature=related This is off the top maybe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGJYmmVvZWE...feature=related Debra Killings totally killin it on a TRB6...WOW...shes soo playing fills when shes singing..very hard to do when you got a 6 string, singing, playing in the groove..very very talented person with a wonderful voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeZK9BD90F4...feature=related just check this Jam with the band from Debra! gives me major GAS for a TRB6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCzdKOadJUs...feature=related Like someone else on BC, this guy blows me away for super spot on bass groove..just listen to his fills and timing....check the drum break and incredible fill at 2.05....he makes it flow so well into the groove.....just one of a kind ........i just wish someone would post a vid of Sharay with great sound!!!!! he loves them Fender 5's ive got to say i would love to play in that environment...its got to make you a better player with that sort of music in the background..(if you dig it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pATcvr3zAhg...feature=related more from the this great bassist Reed..this just blows me away.... 7. Just fabulous looking basses..if i could try any bass it would be a Celinder 4 or 5 or the 6 thats on here....from my experience i never trust image because a bass in your mind can be very different in reality...i get the feeling that a Celinder would blow me away though.. the one i thought was special me was a Rudy Pensa bass... do you have any sound clips CK..
8. I really dont care about my addiction to BC..i have a problem that ive learned to deal with through the medium of electric bass...imo i dont (although i have learned alot) really care for TB...i dont know why...not as close nit maybe..not that i know everyone here....dont know about others.. i thought BC was taking time away from actually playing which it does a little, but the amount i learn from BC'ers is worth its weight..like Sarah 5's RGT thing..i would like to do this and i wouldnt have known about it if it wasnt for her and BC...and my previous posters expert thoughts/ opinions on pickups etc...very informative.. hurrah!!
9.
I recently bought a 74 jazz bass off the forum and I was a bit worried about what I was buying but some good advice on this forum gave me the confidence to buy it and I am sure glad that I did as I love it! The annoying thing is that my fellow band mates prefer the sound of this old jazz to the GB Rumour that I bought last year which cost twice as much!!
oh man thats good but bad...GF what do you prefer playing.....and what bass is best to your ear...i have played all the basses ive owned to my dad..he says he likes the Jazz the best...its funny the way an untrained ear (well bass anyway) likes the sound of a Fender so much...
10.
Forgot to say Bub5, When I pick up my '78 you're more than welcome to try it out or borrow it for a bit
well thanks Barrie thats real cool of you...give me a shout...was good talking to you last time about all things bass...ive deff got gas for a vintage now....

13.
Two things. Only you know whether or not you like this vintage bass enough to be interested in buying it - we know exactly zero about what you like the feel and sound of. If you want to know about vintage Fenders in terms of whether or not they're a good investment there are far wiser men round here than I but I'm inclined to endorse Beedsters earlier comment. The value of any used instrument remains as it has always been - it's worth exactly , to the penny , what someone else is prepared to pay for it.
ok thanks for the advise Dave..you have made me really think about the bass, and i have doubts..so that is enough for me
14. This is what im after though your amazing knowledge!! i did like it, but there is stuff i dont know about vintage jazzers that you might be able to point out....thanks
15. Ok im confused..this guy wants £2250 for the same yea...looks in better condition though http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/web/o...asses/item/6740
16. Ok the guy said they may be 60's knobs..but im not sure... two tone??? the plate is sure old...the neck pocket has a shim down the side.. The frets are flat on top with quite alot of wear..ive got to say it plays beautifuly..stonking tone...what did they do back then that made em sound so good? im going to take the CS in next week and compare...
17. This is very nice, if i had the cash i would have this!! and with Nordy's and OBP3!!!!
18. went into this shop earlier and spotted this Fender..its beauty up close.but i didnt play it....What do you think of this 1977 Jazz...im no vintage Jazz expert...i didnt speak to the guys but these are obviously not the original knobs and it says nothing of them in the advert (unless i missed it) any opinions on this one? http://www.cranesmusicstore.com/fenderjazz...and-p-1819.html
19. Im an electrician but i can just about be bothered to sort out a dodgy ring main problem.im not a pro....but electric bass and piano..no prob...its the difference, (for me) between a job and a passion.. if a pro or anyone find's bass playing a chore to practice,(depending on your practice technique) they should cease to do it....music IMHO...touches your soul more than a job...depending on the job of course
20. I would love to do something like this...where do you take this course Sarah?
21. IMHO they dont work well without a good preamp, there own curcuit is way to harsh...but i had them in a jazz with an Aguilar obp2 and they were awesome,
22.
Like this... ?
OMG..yes thats the bad boy..good call..what a bass
23.
There have been a few past threads on this subject. Opinions seem quite divided. Personally, I like the more expensive stuff.
Ha ha i just spilled my beer..that last bit was funny
24. Seems like Fender have people captured with the shape (P bass and J bass), tone, payability, simplicity...seems the only thing they lack is the prestige quality that builders such as Sadowsky AC have..even there CS range seem to be over priced for what it is....with so far nothing exciting happening in the affordable world... Exciting as they are, could the new Deluxe basses offer the magic that Sadowsky etc offer...im so glad they got rid of the (IMHO) odd shape that the old US Deluxe basses had...didnt dig that shortened lower horn look... im really keen to see what the pre amp offers.this for me is the key.....there going to have to come out with a bomb of a pre to compete with Bart/Aguilar/J East/Audere... etc on the market.. i personally have been dying for Fender to do something off the wall, like a LTD edition color range, with bindings and blocks..i can imagine that they would sell them by the thousands, i knowi would have GAS...... this is my ultimate Jazz.. pale blue, with matching headstock...white pearl pick guard, rosewood FB with pearl blocks, flame maple neck, wight binding,Bartolini JJ pups...
