1.
Willie Weeks on Bass i believe.....correct me if i'm wrong.....never the less Beautifull.
yes Willie Weeks on this live album. my opinions are subjective of course. there a great band on this album. "Little Ghetto Boy" is some of the best bass playing ive ever heard, not just from Willie but from any bassist ever. oh f*** it, here it is. his playing is just wonderfully musical. 2. For as long as i can remember Donny Hathaway's voice has been in my memory. i personally think as subjective as this subject is, he has the best voice ever to be recorded. he has power, control, subtlety, he never EVER, misses a note, or goes off key. pure perfection.. and this recording is live. to think this man threw himself out of a building and killed himself from depression.? 3. maybe not when you were a nipper Jack, but guys like the Who when they were that young, would smash them into oblivion. they are fantastic all the same.
4. I remember when this album first came out, think i was 11, just loved it. so much soul influence Mick had, and still has. i just think there first album was such a great one. such a superior album than anything that came after. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbmCVSSMxYY i think this is such a great record. 5. it does look superb though Martyn. fantastic choice of upgrages.
6. nothing wrong with having one bass. i had 14 at one time, then i realised the Jazz bass could cover everything.
7. oh my lord his is great. Ice T went all rock on me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okpfj2UuF6U
8. if ever there was a crackin rock funk record, this is it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDWJGslOf70
9. i thought i might start a thread. its of a genre that im sure is familiar with alot of us. well Pete has his funk groove nonsense.! i thought i might start it off with a band called Player. would love to hear some of the stuff people know, as im not really a rock specialist. you could say this is my way of wanting to listen to more. and this awsome record, just bad ass Zep this is.

yeah for sure, i know where your coming from.. this is just one video. he is fret w***ing, but why not.? hes a great bassist. but in a musical context its a little ego driven. dont get me wrong i dig his skills

i think the general consensus is that alot of bassists/musicians dont like fret w***ing. i am one of those people. in the words of Alan Partridge. its just saaaaaad.
12. oh man that is lovely. what are the specs. got anymore pics.?
13. i think that guy from Fender is a f***ing moron.
14. some of the best session musicians imo.
15. just a kick ass band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q2nyz-DYQA
16. sometimes you can fingerstyle play lines that sound like slap, but aint actually slappin. just get them fingers under the strings
17. well for those that might not know.
18. i dont tend to swear on bass chat. but that is f***in amazing.!! always loved the original. good call Fionn.
19.
Thanks for sharing this. The music is great and the quality of the video (sound and image) is perfect! I have seen him live once at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
well i knew you would love it.!
20. ive gotta say that fill he plays from 2.00 is just so cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pATcvr3zAhg#t=152
21.
^ Soo true. He just exudes musicality, rather than the (to me anyway) soulless playing of wooten
i have too disagree. Victor Wooten has soul in so many ways. im not sure how you could define soul, but maybe there are some segments of the soul genre you could define as groove. if so Victor has it without doubt. his fingerstyle groove is supreme. 22. imo. this is what Sharay Reed is all about.. from the vid you would just think its another you tube bassist. MAN his musical way, is just amazing. hes the total opposite to Victor Wooten. and thats exactly why i love his playing so much. his fills and just general bouncing from chord to chord are fantastic. ive always thought its all in the detail with Sharay Reed. and imo hes a master at making those little details count. to be fair its just one video. this guy might be a hold down the groove, type of player, hes just showing his chops.? but this video/playing is not for me. less really is more sometimes, . anyway, his jazz bass is wonky, and he looks like Vanilla Ice.
24. Always loved this brazilian Pianist's music..instrumental jazz funk at its best. superb groove.. just wanted to share. 25. its never a good idea, unless you want a project. very neck heavy, the body was possibly designed for the weight of a four string neck. you will have to re route for a five string set of pickups. unless you want only a few of the strings to be amplified properly. these are just 2 reasons why people tend not to convert 4 string basses into 5 string. there are lots more. and believe me, unless your a luthier genius, the B string will be as dead as a dodo. much less effort to buy a 5 string that was designed to be one.
