1. an unattractive bass, with the usual unattractive Warwick price tag. would love to play a Streamer to see what all the fuss is about.
2.
Leaves more women for the rest of us I suppose.
well apart from my wife.
3.
!!! The Nightfly is a masterpiece! Vibrancy and Spark? Listen to 'Walk between the Raindrops'! Anywho, here he is speaking about another classic:
Walking Between the RainDrops is a real favourite of mine. what a great vid. amazing to watch a magician of music, dissect how he created such a masterpiece of a record chord by chord. he does find something different and interesting in every chord
4. from what i have heard, its a growing concept depending on how popular it will become.
5. whenever i hear someone say, they do it for the sound, sorry (TMIT), or its a slap fest, apart from other amazing bassists, i think of Mr Kabas. imo some of the most musical slap playing. well that I've heard . it can be done so well, i actually forget he's slapping. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOJzRxlBRhI
6. i was a jazz bass. now I'm more of a double bass.
7. your welcome Myke.
8.
I'm just so sick of watching demo videos of basses and/or amps and having nothing but a slap-fest racket going on. That's when the video become more of a bit of w**kery for the player than a demo of the instrument. Beside, IMO, all basses sound the same when slapped - like they're just been thrown down the stairs.
with respect i couldn't disagree more with what you've just said. i would say stop watching crap demo vids. and imo no, not all basses sound the same slapped, you live in a different world to what i can hear in more ways than one. i think maybe listen to some guys who can play, before come out with such bold statements. do you have a grasp of the technique yourself.?
9.
Tapping never sounds good though.
really.? subjective of course, but i think it can be very musical in the right context.
10. Been playing a lot of this guy lately. really superb tight music. do i speak Portuguese, no. do i care nope. he really has the feel and sound of the great Black Banda Rio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZpMmD3M-ts
11. they need a few more (Fender) body colour options imo, but good call fender, a step in the right direction. you can get your neck plate personalised also. and do remember this is not the Custom Shop, but also i do wonder what the cost would be.? also like the fact they will put a Jazz neck on a P Bass.
12. i think every Bass builder should have this option. Xotic have been doing it for ages. bit of fun really. http://www.fender.co...gn/instruments/ my favourite combo's
13.
I'm serious about tone being in your head. Equipment, even technique, produces sound, but it's a mechanical thing. What turns it into Tone is what you're hearing and feeling in your head. I've been startled what that sounds like on a good night when I get it right, and how bloody awful the same setup sounds when I don't.
a good tone is a good tone no matter what mood I'm in.
14. erm ok. not really into tapping but done well i still like it hear it. couldn't find an appropriate Batman pic anyways. can't see the big deal about slapping, its just another technique.
15. football, beer, cars, money, guitars, women. Meh. ok the beer and the guitars.
16. not strictly Fagen but written by him and Walter. great live version of one of my favourite songs ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nejAZqdhBts
17.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7PabnaXIfY One of the great bass lines ever!
thats great Merello.! although it has no vid, there is a bonus track on certain Nightfly copies. i think its fanbloodytastic. ! the best live version I've heard. amazing bassline as you said. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPSQuLmI83c the album that is shown i can't find anywhere. its obviously 10 bonus tracks. unreleased apart from this album and certain copies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjsPbZwgdoU
18. really can't understand the lack of vibrancy and spark comment, but hey, each to there own. But yeah Kamakiriad is great Obi. interesting Documentary on thus album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQN_5XEC9IY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJgRYoh7HWI doesn't seem to be a 3rd part on youtube which is annoying
19. very good.!
20. lovely basses, have you really spent £1850 on each bass.?
21. this is a bit of a , i answered my own question. i am so amazed by how good this guy is. he really is one of the geniuses of music, as is Walter.i so love Donalds lean towards jazz soul and funk. this track just says it all for me.
22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6I4SVdKxCE
23.
So nobody listened to Mud, Bay City Rollers or David Cassidy...
i did dude.
24.
Neither for me. I don't think either are grooving hard. I find the timing issues and the horrible bass tone in the Meshell vid too much to bear. Love Tamas' tone but the groove is not syncopated and I found it boring, but as he said it's just a sound clip. I know this is a well known vid, but if you want a wonderful thrilling groove and thrilling playing .. But it's also a nice tune with rich harmony, both the vids in the OP have neither.
how good is that !!!. his fill after 2.00 is just great. never seen groove playing quite like it, his note choices are superb… this vid should be a sticky of how groove should be played. imo one of the best bass players in the world. dare i say it , even Pino would hear him play and say WOW. THAT MAN KNOWS HIS THEORY.!!! good call Nige.
25. had a huge crush on her and her music, and imo she was/is beautiful.
