That is true but Bass Direct are always good. They have a lovely 2nd hand 2017 Excess in at the moment - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Vigier_Excess_4_Black_2017.html -
New bass options, Vigier/Status/ACG/Strandberg choices hmmmmmm

For me, it has to be the Vigier every step of the way. The stability is 2nd to none and if you want a modern take on a classic design, the Excess is the one. The pups and electronics are stunning and versatile. Everything I need is in this bass. It completely stopped my GAS so much so, I ordered another I play the 5 string version and the clarity, playability of these basses surpasses any thing I have ever played before. It did take me a small time to get past the neck relief "thing" but now, I honestly don't think I could go back. I used to take other basses on tour with me in different countries and worry every time that there would be a neck adjustment upon arrival. That wasn't always the case but 50% of the time, there was. With the Vigier it never happens. That consistency for me, is worth it's wait in gold. I've had all graphite necks but they felt soulless. With the Vigier, you get the feel of wood and with the stability of an all graphite necked bass. I play in a rock / progressive band and the Excess is dream in that situation but I can see it covering any style of music. It is punchy, clear and cuts through any mix, beautifully. Try one, you will not regret it -
This is just fantastic I could happily sit there in small, intimate venue, supping some beer and enjoy this spectacle. More please, more
-
Do they need that with the personalities they have? I hear what you are saying though
-
I totally get Mike Campbell joining but, Neil Finn? Maybe it's because either one can't do the full tour? Either way, it is great to see Mike playing. An amazing musician
-
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha still laughing. Perfect answer and applies here, too
-
Fake. It looks like one of those old Kay basses.

He clearly needs help....... I think he may be going solo from here on in.

I've seen some pictures and it looked amazing. I hope I can make it next year
-
Ahhhh, that’s cool. Have fun and please pass on my regards to Ben. I genuine agree, the Vigier bunch are great. Enjoy the show. Wish I could have made it this year.

I know, bloody crazy isn’t it 🤪 That’s so cool about my no. 1 starting you off on your Vigier quest. Sweet!! As for my new one, I’ve been lucky enough to secure an artist endorsement with them so, I’m getting it directly from Vigier and High Tech Distribution. So excited. Really cannot wait 😉

@Snarf That is just the tip of the iceberg for me 😂 I was a 6 stringer before I moved 5. Then I went though - 6 Warwick’s, 7 Yamaha’s TRB & RBX, 2 Dingwalls, 4 MM Bongo’s (2 x 6 strings and 2 x 5 strings), 1 MTD 5 string, 2 Fender Dimension 5s (1 x US Deluxe and 1 x Squire Deluxe), 2 Ibanez 4 strings, 1 Marlin Slammer, 1 Squire Jazz, 1 Hohner Steinberg and 1 Fender Precision MIJ 4 which I still have to this day. My folks bought it for me for Christmas, back in ‘86. I’m sure that’s pretty much it including the previously mentioned Mike Lull and Fenders 😳😂

It was the first Vigier I tried as well but, it was a long(ish) time before it became mine. I ended up with a Mike Lull PJ5 and then sold that for 2 US Fender Precision 5 but every time I saw the Vigier I wondered why I hadn't bought it. One morning, seriously, I woke up and thought "that's it, I've got to have it" so, I sold both the Precision's and bought the Vigier. I haven't thought of buying another bass since, no GAS at all. I really have found my home hence the purchase of another Excess 5. It's taken me a long time, taken me on a cool journey of discovery and cost me a lot of money but to be here, has been worth it

Oh my, they are lovely. Very nice @ped As soon as the new bass arrives, I will certainly post a few pics. I'm super excited and have always wanted a purple bass and like you, I have never seen an EXCESS 5 in purple but I have seen an ARPEGE V 5 string. I have attached the picture below. It is stunning
-
That is beautiful @Snarf I love that finish and colour. I have attached a picture of my no.1 and when my new Excess 5 arrives in purple this time, I'll post it then. Enjoy and this has turned in to my new fave BC thread ha ha ha ha ha ha

Fantastic news and congrats on both outcomes. Enjoy

I can't believe this is still here. I'm super tempted but I have no idea what it will sound like. If you were around the corner, I pop over and give this a try. I just can't take the risk of buying it, having it sent and not being satisfied with it. I wish you the very best of luck with the sale and hope it goes soon. Have a BUMP on me.......

I tried a 500 series last year and was most unimpressed with the sound and feel. I'm a huge fan of the original TRB I basses. They sounded and felt very special. I know the on board electronics could be a little noisy but it was easy to sort. I really wish Yamaha would take those basses in to account. I understand it's about moving forward as a company as well but the TRB I's were so right in my opinion, of course. The new Yamaha basses look ace but I have to be honest, the sound on the TRBX600 being demonstrated left me feeling cold. I'd still like to try one.

Things you'll never have GAS for again

Heavy cabs and amps - After carrying a Harke Kilo and 8x10 up 3 flights of stairs twice on one tour, that was me done. They went when the tour was completed and I have never missed them Musicman Bongo basses - I absolutely love them. I've had 3 (2 x 5 string and 1 x 6 string). I just have never found one where the neck settled for more than 2 months at a time. I was always adjusting the truss rod. 6 string basses - I used to play 6 string bass exclusively (I've had about 12 of them FFS) but I did feel like a numpty every time I went on stage with one especially as people expected me to zoom about the neck like a loon. That's my issue though and nothing against 6 string basses or, the folk who play them. -
Man, that is one yellow pedal Just watched the demo though and looks very interesting. Thank you

You're a star. Thanks bud PS On a separate note, don't forget to send me all the details as discussed with Alice

Top of the pops. Thanks buddy. I shall search out the video and appreciate the insight. I think this is the route I am going to take

Very cool. The TC looks like it is the way for me to go. I was impressed with it when I had the RH750 but wasn't sure how it would translate outside of the "box" if you know what I mean. Good to hear that you feel it is an improvement. Thanks
