1. In addition, I have withdrawn the bass for sale, and have asked the one person who PM'd about the bass to read this thread first before going any further with his interest on this bass.
2. Prehaps its not the most honor worthy thing I have ever done in my life, but Fiatcoupe did agree, it was not contested. If it was, we would be having a very different discussion. It was agreed by both parties... and i was honest from the outset and transparent about EVERYTHING. If i'd of seen this thread before, I would have been transparent all the way, as I have been with fiatcoupe from the outset and as I have been now.
3. I was 100% clear with the buyer, if there was any bad vibes or bad words etc we would have dealt with it at the time. I requested to cancel the sale, he agreed, if he did not agree then we would be in a different situation. Fact is I asked to cancel, he said yes. I do not see how this is wrong doing. Being classed as a con man because you don't know the facts is ridiculous and very narrow minded. I spoke to fiatcoupe and he said he will add a post to clear things up. So I am hoping he does as this is all very out of hand. My god this is crazy... Not something i expected. And as for morally worng, yes, I would agree if i'd taken his money and never sent the bass, but i sent him the text I did saying I really didnt want to sell it, blah blah, youve all read it... and fiatcoupe said ok, no worries, what else am i suppose to do? Yes I should have put a reserve, this was discussed with fiatcoupe, we spoke in a friendly way and ended things in a friendly way, so i dont understand this epically unreasonable reaction from assumptions. This is our issue, not yours, we dealt with it happily between us and that is it. Fiatcoupe, your thoughts here would be very appreciated man!
4. For obvious reasons I'm pulling this from the for sale section. If you want one then you'll have to order one from California at their current prices. Russ.
5.
Dear Non-Seller. Look at the shiytstorm of bad will you've stired up on here. Next time, or such a specialised item like a 7 string bass- just pay your basschat subs and advertise it on here! cheers LukeFRC
I have paid my basschat subs for the year some time ago! I simply chose not to list it on here...
6.
When it's listed again, or any thing else they sell for that matter, make sure you place the winning bid...then write back and say that you couldn't possibly buy it for that price and you are only willing to buy it for what it's worth.... I am sure they will see that you are being reasonable.... Edit Don't listen to me I'm full of useless advice, you may be legally obliged to pay....
Really? I though people had better caliber than this...
7.
What a scumbag ...out him.
Nice, real nice... This thread is about me and my 7 string jazz.... Having just phoned fiatcoupe he tells me this thread was started prior to actualy contact by me to him regarding this... I made contact with him pretty much as soon as the auction ended, but alas i was too late and this thread was started... This is a bit of a dangerous precedent here... it seems that a fair chunk of band wagon jumping has occurred without people actually knowing the full facts. Luckily fiatcoupe is very reasonable and our chat (over the phone minutes ago) cleared up a few things in terms of timelines etc. The end result being we did indeed amicibly agree to not go through with the sale, (I am happy to provide text message transcripts of our convos if he is happy for me to disclose them) Nothing is a miss here, nothing sketchy was done, nothing underhanded and nothing that deserves me being called a scum bag... which is just childish in my opinion. I understand that it is not a popular decision to bail out of a sale, but fiatcoupe was fine with it and we talked out the situation and ended on a friendly basis. Please take note from this and dont witch hunt until both sides are heard. I have a decent reputation on here, and don't really want it destroyed over a misunderstanding. Thanks, Russ.
8. I hadn't seen any thread on here about it. The buyer and I discussed the matter and I was under the assumption it was resolved. If it isn't then the buyer should have voiced his opinion to me during our discussions, which were on a very friendly and amicable basis. My PM to you asked you to not voice these issues on the thread because it is not to do with the sale of the instrument. In the interest of clarify the bass sold on ebay for a very low price which I was not prepared to let it go for, I spoke to the buyer and he was happy to cease the transaction. I said I would be placing it on basschat and told him what price I would list it for, there were no bad words so I'm not sure why there are bad words now. Any issues not about the sale of this bass should not be listed here.
9. I have already had this discussion with the said basschatter, we agreed to mutually not continue with the sale.
10. Hi guys, I am having to sell this bass as I am trying desperately to make good on an offer I made to a fellow basschatter... Another sale fell through, and in turn I had to pull out of our sale. This bass is a fantastic intro into the world of bass beyond 6 strings, it has incredible action (plek's) and feels great to play, the neck is fast and comfortable and the overall condition of the bass is as close to brand new as you can really get. I imported the bass from the states, paid the import tax etc, which was a bit of a chore, so this is offered to you find chaps at £550, I will also include a brand new hard case (a small amount on inner lining has been removed to fit the bass) and I will also provide free insured shipping to the UK. I will knock £20 off if you collect, (you can still have the hardcase!) It is a real knock-out this bass and play fantastically, it has an active/passive switch and an almost parametric EQ going on with the double stacked pots. The bass is unmarked and reasdy to rock, a real head turner and fantastic for tapping. It has twso 9v batteries to power the kent armstrong pups. I'm on 07912222127 and I'm based in Wickford Essex, let me know if you have any questions! Russ. 11. mother of god... Any trades? Souls accepted? Kidneys? I hear Kindeys go for a good amount these days...
12. Any trades sir?
13. Outstanding... I might have to sell a few things as this is literally awesome. Almost exactly the kind of bass I love.
14. 15th July, so he still has just under a month. trying to be impartial and all!
15. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/190089-lettsbasses-basschat-special-the-winter-edition/page__st__210 Worth a thorough read... apparently Jon is now refusing to supply me any bass! and I have not had any luck with him returning my deposit either. Advice is welcome.
16. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/190089-lettsbasses-basschat-special-the-winter-edition/page__st__210 worth a thorough read, again all evidence is available on request.
17. Yes, sorry, I was kind of replying to both of you at the same time! My bad...!
18. Charic, no the specs hadn't changed, Jon original quote was £400 upfront and £400 on completion, though to my detriment in this situation he did not provide me with an invoice for this, despite me asking several times in the beginnings of this order 2 years ago. Does anyone have any advice they could lend to resolving this? Would anyone act as a mediator to help my situation out, court is the last thing I want to do, but Jon simply will not stick to his word. I would be very grateful to anyone who would review my particular situation and offer honest, impartial advice. I am not after a slanging match with Jon, all I want is what is owed.
19. You say "credit where credit is due", to me I would not give any credit to this situation, the fact of the matter is 4 users of this site, myself and camdenrob included have had to resort to sending letters before action to Jon to get him to agree to a completion date, some of us have been waiting 2 years past the original completion date. For an owner of a business to have to have a threat of court action looming over him before he actually commits to a completion date astounds me. there is no credit here, there is only credit to the patients of those who have waited so long for these orders to materialise.
20. Well, I have been waiting for 2 years longer than my basses original completion date... Jon has been in contact with me via email, but most of these emails are very arguementative and volitile. He also built me a 7 string a while ago that had many issues and he stated he would build a replacement, this never happened and that too was 2 years ago. I had to show Jon messages he sent me to prove he stated he would build a replacement before he acknowledged it. The situation has deteriorated so much it looks like court action will be needed.
21.
No dealings myself, but you may want to have a gander at this thread: http://basschat.co.u...page__hl__letts - a fair few angry customers; unfortunately it sounds like the business has recently had a number of personal and financial problems which have set them back quite badly. I've no idea what the current situation is, but this may provide some insight. (Edit: link fixed)
I was made aware of some personal issues by Jon, which cause delays, I was fine with this, but so far the build is 2 years behind scheduel, the cost has risen and the general customer service I am receiving is far from acceptable.
22. I have amended the post to be more neutral.
23. Hi Guys, I'd like to ask anyone out there about their experiances with Jon of Letts Basses. Recently things have deteriorated between myself and Jon to the point I am forced to take court action against him to recover assest and money lost to him and his failure to complete a project within a reasonable time frame as well as a multitude of other issues. Can anyone who has had dealings with Jon post a reply or PM about their experiances with him? Be it good or bad, I'd like a bit of a cross reference to see if he has treated me particularly poorly, or if simialr things or other things have caused other customers to be disillusioned by Jon. I am aware that 4 other people have had to resort to sending Jon "Letters before Action", please let me know your thoughts, I think it is important to be impartial, but I am having a hard time doing so given the level of the service I have received. I also think it is important for anyone considering a build with him to know what a true representation of Jon and his company, be it positive or negative. I might be part of a minority, but I would like some infomation from other customers if possible. Thanks in advance. Russ.
