I've sent them a message, let's see what they say, although their website does say they are not taking on bespoke orders. A Boss FS-6 may possibly do the trick for the Solo and Mute functions...
-
Quite possibly... The rear of the head has 4 separate inputs which would seem to suggest a generic footswitch would work for any one function. I'll probably invest in the correct Strategy footswitch though as it'll then do the lot.
-
It'll be coming with me to band practice next week, I'll record a clip if I remember! Just had a little play and it is quite a monster, being able to run it low, half or full power is definitely needed! Shame the footswitch didn't come with it as the solo function would have been useful. All in, so far so good!

The beast has arrived... It also doubles as a device to create earthquakes on the other side of the planet.

So Mesa 4 ohm output to 12B input with a jack to speakon, then 12B 'link' to 6T input with speakon to speakon. That is exactly how I've been running the cabs into my previous head, and how I would have run them into the Mesa without seeking clarification, so I'm glad that does indeed appear to be right! Always good to seek a second opinion on these things, much appreciated!
-
Amended to correct my series/parallel blunder... @HazBeen, given the outputs on the Mesa and the inputs on the cabs (pic below) what would you suggest is the best way to run both cabs into the head safely? Link one Mesa 4 ohm output to the input of the 6 ohm cab, and link the 6 ohm cab to the 12 ohm cab? 2/3 power going to the 6 ohm and 1/3 going to the 12 ohm sounds like that's be what I want as the 6 ohm cab is the 12B and the 12 ohm cab is the 6T.

Right, This is a topic I know has gone round the houses, but I just want an absolute sanity check on my math to make sure I don't do anything stupid and kill a rather expensive amp straight out of the box! So, the head in question is a Mesa Boogie Strategy Eight:88. The cabs... PJB 12B and PJB 6T. The 12B is 6 ohm and the 6T is 12 ohm. I believe the equation for mismatching ohm cabs is as follows: (cab 1 x cab 2) / (cab 1 + cab 2) For these cabs this would be 6 x 12 = 72 divided by 6 + 12 = 18, which in my head gives a joint impedance of 4 ohms. So first sanity check is: Is my math right? Is a 6 ohm cab run in parallel (daisy chained) with a 12 ohm cab going to then run a joint impedance of 4 ohms? The second sanity check is with the amp... the picture below shows the speaker inputs on the Mesa, the duel 4 ohm inputs us what is throwing me slightly... can I just simply daisy chain the 2 cabs (if my 4 ohm math is correct) and run them into one of the 4 ohm outputs? Or should I run the 6 ohm cab separately into one 4 ohm output and the 12 ohm cab separately into the 8 ohm output? I'm thinking daisy chaining and running into one 4 ohm output is the right option. Can anyone give me some absolute clarification on this please! And sorry if this is old hat, but I want to really be 100% on this. Cheers! Russ.

Had many MANY of the rectangular ones, they're perfectly reasonable cases at a perfectly reasonable price.

Well, @krispn... you've really gone and done it now... Just sold my Markbass head and officailly pulled the trigger on the Mesa Strategy Eight:88 head! It better be good or you'll find me standing outside your window shaking my fist in anger! And before you ask, yes, yes I will obviously run away if you open the door...

I'm just in the process of pulling the trigger on the Strategy:88, however, even with its monster RRP of £3500 I've just learnt that it doesn't come with the footswitch as standard and that I'll have to fork out a further £150 for the privilege, somewhat off-putting to be honest. If a dirt cheap Behringer amp I had a while back can come with a 4 way footswitch as standard, a £3500 Mesa shouldn't even consider charging for one! Is it just me, or would this get your back up too?

I am every member of Basschat apart from you... glad the cats out the bag, it's been hard work!

Hi all, So Gas has attacked... badly... I therefore offer up for sale my much loved Markbass Multiamp Mono with the official Markbass case and the all important Markbass Midi Pedal Board. (PJB cab obviously not included!) The amp has always been housed in the case, as has the pedal board (I still have the original box for the pedal board) everything works fantastically. The pedal, the kettle lead and the midi cable all fit in the pocket on the case so everything is carried together! The amp has a HUGE amount of effects built in, all of the cabs and amps in the MB range as well as all the effects plus much more in the MB range. You can blend multiple effects together and the depth of ability to edit is astounding. The head retails at £1000, the bag at £70 and the pedal at £270, so it's a £1340 set up as it sits if you went to buy it today from new. I'm asking £600 for the lot (£20 extra for postage). I do love this amp... but I REALLY want the other thing I'm gassing for so this is on the chop. I'm in Basildon, Essex and collection is preferred though postage is doable too. Any questions, please ask! Better photos to be posted tomorrow! Russ.

Don't tempt me to do the same! However having just taken delivery of my ACG, I think I'll quickly end up divorced if I bought this... almost makes it more tempting to buy! 🤣

Hi guys, So, MAJOR GAS has hit... I don't want to sell this but I currently want my GAS item fractionally more. I'll do a 'Full Spec/Better Pictures' thing tomorrow, but for now here's a picture I took a month or two ago. It's an incredibly good bass, the action is very low, its sounds fabulous, quite WAL-ish. The Pre-amp is flexible and aggressive, it'll punch through the mix like Chuck Norris through sugar glass. The build quality is simply masterful, it is heavy, yet very well balanced so comfortable on a decent strap. This would be well over £3000 new, so £1250 seems more than fair and it is absolutely mint, I can't find a single scratch or zing anywhere, almost as if you'd just taken new delivery of it! I'm in Basildon, Essex and would rather it be collected or we meet somewhere around the M25, I can post if absolutely need be. Russ.

Looking to potentially do a part-ex on the Strategy as we speak... still might be a trifle too much cash to outlay right now though!
-
£729 on that M9 Rack is cheap... brand new items for 2nd hand prices.

For me GAS has become a permanent health issue, there is no cure. There are always things out there I want/feel I NEED, the only preventative factor is money! If I ever won a horrendous amount of cash the collection would exponentially grow. I once saw a guy who bought and old church and it was literally full to the brim of outstanding gear, hundreds of incredible guitars, basses, amps etc. THAT is what I'd do, and even then I doubt that would cure the GAS. GAS is something that needs getting used to and managing correctly, there is no cure!

Late to the party here but I own one and it's an extremely useful bit of kit... not only is the wireless aspect super handy for amplifying my digital piano (and bypasses the god awful built in speakers it has) without a cable trailing across the room, it's also a real gem for practice with friends, you can have two guitars, a bass and a backing track all running simultaneously through the one amp. The sound quality is perfectly reasonable, actually sounds damn fine with the digital piano going through it and the wood front really suits our decor so the wife allows it out on display! My only negative is those speaker absolutely need some protection from children that have the overwhelming urge to poke them, once push in it is an utter pain the @rse to 'unpoke' them. The brand new proce point of £600 is steep, but it does have a lot of useful functionality in a decent size box. @Muppet, if you still fancied one, PMT have one on clearance for £350.

One the 12th day of Christman Santa brought to me, a brand new Mesa Boogie! But then I was so poor I had to set my wife and children freeeeee...

Good. You dodged a bullit there in my opinion! €500 is enough to get a decent 6 string on the second hand market. Look at eBay, a few weeks ago I got a Yamaha TRB6P for £400, there are very good deals to be had if you are patient and keep your eyes open!
