    I always sound crap and I can't play. When I see youtube videos of our gigs it's like it's somebody else playing - it definitely didn't sound like that when i was doing it.

    yes, ideally. I have a bass with 2 cavities where this isn't the case and it is silent too.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Incudo-Copper-Shielding-Sheet-Self-Adhesive/dp/B00A235WDA A fiver for enough to do a few cavities. All that's required then is a sharp scalpel or scissors to cut it with and some paper and scissors to make templates.

    I use these guys https://www.insure4music.co.uk/ I've never had to claim so I can't comment on their claim handling but their cover seems reasonable enough and easy to set up.

    Well I have made 3 precisions and have done it on all of them. They are not noisy, in fact they're silent. I can only assume the shielding helps. Considering it's cheap and easy to do, why wouldn't you?

    I don't know what kind of gigs you're doing but clearly you're doing better than me.

    I have a lead which I treat and store this way too. It's umpteen years old and works as well today as the day I bought it, which if I'm honest could have been anytime from the 80s through to the 2010s. It's not branded, just a generic cheap bright green instrument cable. I use it to connect my pedal board to my amp so it gets plenty of work.
