  1. What percentage of bassists have or play a fretless ? I would imagine it's <10%, if not much less. Ibanez do some specific fretless models, which I imagine they think covers that arena, but for every model to have a fretless option (produced in advance) may see a lot not sold.
  2. That's better. Multiple playing styles, a range of octaves, in the mix.
  3. Personally, i watch your reviews with both the sound, and my pants, off.
  4. I just called him too. He said that the RM is not a silent amp designed for home practise, but designed for stage use - so the fan runs permanently. However, it is possible to add a thermal switch to the fan circuit, so it only runs when it gets to a certain temperature - which is unlikely to happen at home. A superb solution.
  5. Having just joined an originals band after zero gigs for 2 years, I have 4 in the diary already in the next 3 months. I haven't gigged original music in over 15 years, so it's quite exciting.
  6. Sounds like he's rolled a few too many if that's his observation of metal bass tones.
  7. Bridge pickups for metal ? Yes. Sure.
  8. Every Cort demo, ever. Let me beat that though, with this chap that they found outside the studio:
  9. For me - it's knowing that even if I can get past the brand name, most won't. And as someone who generally owns basses in a transient fashion, I would know i'd take a big hit when selling if I bought one new. As such, even though these instruments are well above their price tag in comparison to 'big brands', I wouldn't take the risk.
  10. £1149, probably £1249 for the fiver. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/220113379527008--cort-gb-modern-4-open-pore-charcoal-grey
  11. Evo 1 500w. Absolutely fine outside house as other sound will nullify it, but makes using it for home practice a bit annoying unless cranked.
  12. Let me know what they say please, as I just listened to yours and it's the same as mine 😂.
  13. I think any 34" scale instrument will struggle here, especially if you want a defined tone.
  14. This is where I go. Decent gear and always clean and tidy, I'll be there tomorrow night!

    Yamaha mods

My advice is sell it and get some that has what you want.
  16. Cool shape and colours, for me - utterly ruined by the cheap looking pickup cases.
  17. It certainly shows that our desires for 'expensive equipment' are at times irrational and ego based. Much in the same way you can buy a £500 car and likely fulfil all your travelling needs, many of us use expensive equipment as a status symbol (even if to ourselves) that shows success or professionalism.
  18. Unique ? So is every turd I make. Custom ? Did someone actually ask for this ? Headless ? Umm no it isn't. *TRIGGER WARNING* Sorry for anyone who is of a sensitive nature, probably best don't click the link. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294858119780?hash=item44a6e9da64:g:ddUAAOSwgNRiHjK~
  19. At least we know where they got the body design from...
  20. As someone who does ask for serial numbers on occasion - it's so I can search online for the DOB and factory source (more so with Yamahas), as well as see if there's any web history of that specific instrument. I wouldn't bother on most stuff, just those I am geeky about that I actually want to buy.
  21. I had one this week for an originals rock band. They sent me recordings but absolutely zero info on keys or tunings, when quizzed the guitarist said he doesn't know any of the chord names. Anyway - I learnt them note for note (thankfully quite simple stuff generally rooted in Eb with occasional low C# in there). They were a quiet bunch, were quite close to their recordings and didn't give much away in terms of feedback. Awaiting a result on the weekend as I assume they have someone else to check out too. If they say no - i'm at least happy it won't be based on my playing, but possible mismatch in age/personality.
  22. They'd knock £50 off max when I asked. In the end I paid just over half that.
  23. Had it's first outing tonight. I ended up on the neck pickup with the treble rolled off most of the time.
  24. The only Bongos I can easily find new in the UK for £3350. Bearing in mind these instruments have been in production for 15+ years, there are a fair few 2nd hand, so i can't imagine the new ones really sell at all.
  25. I remember it being slighty closer to the bridge.
