1. Stop bumping this please, i'm trying to pretend it's not really here !
2. You owe me some new trousers .
3. I have that feeling more now than I have for years, doesn't stop GAS trying to tempt me to get more though !
4. I've got a bit of a soft spot for the EB-3 - would love one with some flats on it.
5. Sorry we only allow the sale of 2nd hand instruments. Do you mean this bass is not new, but in new condition ?
6. I got my Dad to make me one from a blank piece of tort that cost about £10 (loads spare after too). Sure it wasn't as neat as the expensive ones but it looked fine, could only see the rough edges from a few inches away. Regarding the Fender ones - they'll be good but not £28 better than the one for £12. Personally i'd go for the cheap one unless you want an 'all original parts' bass and don't care how much it costs.
7. First: Yamaha RBX775 / Ashdown Electric Blue-12 180 Current: Overwater Progress / Ashdown ABM300/MAG210
8. You could try changing the pickups/bridge/tuners as well as the body and neck .
9. It won't be a con, PMT just happen to have a particularly crap website.
10. Pub gig we've played a few times before that had gone ok. This time we'd ended up on last (about 1030) when most people had gone and we'd had too many shandies because we were bored waiting to play. We'd learnt 'Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour' and were playing it for the first time, it started off well but in the middle the guitarists got it wrong, the singer followed whilst me and the drummer were doing the right bit. It wasn't pretty. In fact, I just remembered we recorded it ! Here it is for your viewing displeasure: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2xpb2_sh...kest-hour_music
11. A tactic for rejuvenating affection for an old instrument is not to play it for at least a few days if not weeks. Then when you come back to it feels fresh again, especially if you've been playing something else in it's place.
12. Mine seemed to function fine, the boost wasn't overpowering but I never for once thought there was a fault with it. Just checked the circuit diagram (here) and it states the circuit is a +3dB switch which sounds about right. Mine is currently in bits but i'll mention it to the tech when it gets rebuilt.
13. I've got some D'Addario Chromes on my Overwater after having rounds on it firstly. The difference is significant and I prefer the tone and feel of the falts, they've so much more musicality and bottom end, I am converted. When I get my RBX fretless running again I think i'll be stringing it E-C with flats.
14. £399 for the Overwater (Tanglewood) Classic J.. Or this overpriced Squier ?
15. I've worked out trading always give you something new, but you miss part of what you swapped too.
16. Ah, I was scanning for a £ sign and never saw one ! . No worries, looks a nice bass.
17. Please add a price (requirement of putting things up for sale here) .
18. Have had both, definitely get the EB.
19. I love how Alan is keeping the UK 2nd hand market in business .
20. No pics = no bass .
21. http://wiki.basschat.co.uk/info:amps:impedance_and_wattage
22. Rickenbacker 4003 (Fireglo) Musicman Stingray 5 HH (Blue pearl/white pickguard & Maple neck) An old Fender P or J (with plenty of mojo must be pre 1975, sunburst. Block inlays preferred !)
23. I got on with Warwick Reds (£11.50 a set on Stringbusters) on my MIM Jazz. They sounded fine and seemed to last well.
24. Helsinki (Finland) to Hemnesberget (Norway) ? Oh only 663 miles
