Actually, the LP Junior is a lovely guitar. A friend of mine had a '59. It was my favourite in his collection as it was so simple but it sang and sang. Davo
Totally agree Davo. This isn't a '59, it's an '09 which Gibson re-issued these at the beginning of the year. The only thing that lets it down in my opinion is the satin finish instead of the gloss finish which older models have. Other than that it's a fantastic guitar.
I think that's the Jazz Deluxe I used to own! Glad you're getting on with it better than I did Great collection! Si
It's nice to know who the former owners are. It's taken a bit of a back seat recently and like I said in my first post I'll be looking to move it on or trade it in next year. I've really enjoyed playing it though.

Nice one, cheers for the comments guys. The '75 RI has a really nice grain too. If I can get a good photo of it I'll post it.

I was actually only after one new bass, but then this happened...

Great basses and really great photos as well. Gear porn just isn't the same if the photos have been taken on a mobile telephone. -
He said collection preferred and acknowledged nobody would be crazy enough to pay postage! I believe Jim Marshall was going through a divorce and bought the Park name (thy used to make valve amps) to safeguard his business from the estranged wife
I thought it had something to do with the Marshall distribution contract with Rose-Morris?
The colours are down to the artistic Mrs Clarky - our kitchen is bright lime green and we have a lot of bright velvet stuff and Union Jack carpets and cushions etc. She should design basses! Re: Mesa cab, always knew it was a nice-to-have luxury as for the vast majority of our gigs the Walkabout combo is plenty loud enough
I haven't had a chance to gig my yet. Our singer has a throat infection at the moment. I reckon he's been kissing our drummer. Used it for a couple of practices though and it's been outstanding. I've sold my 2 old amps now as well so have a bit of spare cash floating around. Your rig still looks mega and I must get round to trying an 09 Jazz.

I'm kicking myself a bit for not getting that Mesa extension cab. May have to rectify that and order one at some point. Love the colours in your house, reminds me of a packet of Skittles.

Poor Customer Service Award - Andertons, Guildford
harvey1-8 replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
Just seen this thread and a really good outcome all round. I've bought from Andertons for years and have always been really happy with their service. I am lucky that I have Guitar and Amp in Brighton and Andertons to choose from and I've found both shops have great customer service. Andertons, like all guitar shops, should be avoided on a Saturday unless you get in there early. As for the comments on Andertons and repaired amps; I'm pretty sure Surrey Amps handle most of Andertons amp repairs. It may be hard for Andertons to get an itemized list for the customer if requested. May also be worth noting that if you're on a budget Surrey Amps aren't the cheapest place around and of course Andertons will put a charge on top. Having said that, I've had valve amps repaired through Andertons in the past and the work carried out has always been first rate. -
Silddx and his Warwick fretless looking very retro I thought..
What was Johnny Depp doing there?

Now you've sold this Joe, what's replacing it?

I'm a BASS NUT!!! PORNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
harvey1-8 replied to doctor_of_the_bass's topic in Gear Gallery
All those basses and not one Gibson? You must have had one in the past, right? -

Thanks for the comments guys. I'd love to keep the amp but I have 3 amps at the moment and can't justify having 3, so this one and another Trace are being sold. For it's age it's in really good condition. There are no tears on the vinyl at all, just the usual marks you expect to find on amps from 19 years of being taken too and from gigs. For anyone interested there are more photos of the amp on my flickr account here along with some pictures of other bass related stuff, bikes and some odds and sods from America. Enjoy.

Following a recent amp purchase it's time to see if there's any interest for my old Trace Elliot. It's a Series 6 AH300 from 1990 with a 4X10 cab. I'm not going to go into too much detail but if anyone has questions post them below or PM me. My bass tutor bought it new and I bought it from him. I've had it for 8 or 9 years now and it's been superb. I've had no problems with it in that time. It weighs approximately half an elephant. It has the fancy UV light on the front panel. I've been told these can cause the amp to crackle but it's not the case with this one. It's been looked after well. Not too sure where to start with pricing. I'm thinking £SOLD for the lot. No too keen on shipping due to weight. Sussex, Surrey, London, Hampshire and Kent are all with in easy reach for me so can meet half-way. More than happy to have people come round to try. Cheers, Alex.
hmm I know a professional guitarist who teaches at BIMM and he seems to think it's good
Everyone I know who went to BIMM said it was a waste of time. I think if you're looking for something along the same lines as BIMM and ACM then The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London may be your best bet. I haven't been to any of the above mentioned so it's all advice I've been given and not first hand experience. Not sure about universities.

I find helping the drummer set up and pack down his kit goes a long way.
-
I guessed it was Electric. My band recorded there a few years age when they didn't have a 70s SVT. We also used to practice there but we thought the practice rooms were pretty poor. We would turn up and the guitar amp wouldn't be working, our drummer would spend 45 mins trying to get the kit sorted out and I won't even start on the bass amps. We haven't been back for a while so they may have sorted it out. Friendly staff though.

Which studio in Brighton?

I bought a Mesa/Boogie Walkabout Scout from Joe. Fantastic seller and great communication throughout. I would have no problem dealing with him again.
