Mine's absolutely not an issue. The fan is no different to any other similar-specced amp I've owned.
That said, I've heard people comment on the volume of the fan in the Walkabout, but that never bothered me either.
When we gigged there we had a fixer (a lovely chap called Mubarak) who reached into a wadge of cash in his pocket whenever anything became problematic. It was an enlightening trip.
i.e. more than many of us will make in a lifetime. Good on him, I say - I'm not a fan of his videos etc, but I have a lot of respect for what he's achieved..
He clearly has some idea of what he's talking about, despite what some here would suggest.
I think he knows exactly the kind of person he wants, and it's the kind of person who won't be put off by that JD.
I really can't see anything wrong with it.
Quite. I can’t help thinking it would be a better PR exercise if he’d set up his stall at the Bass gallery or somewhere.
I seem to recall he lives in the UK for a big chunk of the year anyway.
But, I hope enough people buy 2nd copies of the book for 60 quid to make it worthwhile for the bookshops...!
Absolutely. I've lost count of the times I've seen an FS ad for a gorgeous bass, only to click it to find out it's got a narrow nut.
As you can imagine, the level of disappointment is crushing.
The Walkabout is a remarkable head. I used one for years with a number of cabs. I'd try different cabs first.
If you find you want something in a similar ballpark but with more present mids and more headroom, I recommend the Handbox R-400 - IMO it's a 'Walkabout Plus'.
