1.
As a young snapper the words meant a lot "If you want to be a singer or play guitar, Man you gotta work or you won't get far It's never too late to work 9-5"
I was there too and I thought the lyrics were cheesy. Sorry.
 2.
Sorry to go against the flow here but hold your head up and Gawd gave rock and roll to you were outstandingly brilliant rock pop songs in their day.
I'd be happier with Hold Your Head Up than the other one.
 3.
Now, sorry if this causes any offence to either; a) the vertically challenged amongst us, or Argent fans, or c) vertically challenged argent fans...but i'm sorry, not only is the song itself absolute sh*te and verging on the comical, but the guy who plays bass on it looks like a demented Munchkin on speed....i speak of course about the Old Grey Whistle Test Vol 2 version in all it's pythonesque glory You should really have look if only to re-affirm just how important image is
I've got that DVD and you're right.
 4.
I quite like the really hammy Kiss version on Kiss Alive III! And Gene Simmons didn't have too much of an image problem, or height problem in those stack heels
I've never understood how anyone could take Kiss seriously. Or take them at all in fact. Sorry guys. IMHO.
 5.
Jim Rodford, also played with the kinks, currently playing with the zombies
Ah, the Zombies, with original bassist Chris White, they were great. Check out Odessey & Oracle. I suspect though that Chris White may have co-written God Gave etc. Never mind.
 6. I've also got the original box but no instructions (I can't remember there being any) but there's not much to figure out anyway.
 7. Dunlop DC Brick: With Velcro on the bottom: Includes mains lead with USA plug (but works off 240 volts): I'll throw in a universal adapter: There are seven 9V DC outputs (at 55 milliamps each) and three 18V DC outputs (at 208 milliamps each). You can use all outputs simultaneously for a total power output of 1000 milliamp. I'll include the original seven 3.5mm to 2.1x5.5mm 9volt DC leads (+barrel), three 2.1x5.5mm to 2.1x5.5mm 18volt DC leads (+barrel), and two 3.5mm to 3.5mm 9volt DC leads (+tip). You can read about it here. Lowest price for these new (without the adapter) seems to be about £97. This one is yours for £55 posted. Paypal accepted.
 8. Slightly battered Aphex Punch Factory: With velcro on the underside: All in working order but no box or instructions (which I'm sure can be found online): You can read about it here. These seem to be £75 absolute lowest price new. Given the slightly [s]battered[/s] mojo'd condition I'll take £30 posted. Who wants it?
 9.
Damn! I´ve been GAS free for over a year, but I really want that fretless. If it sounds good, that is. Don´t see myself spending that kind of money on an Epiphone though...
So there's a few of us waiting for someone to buy a new one, not like it, and sell it to [s]me[/s] us for £300.
 10.
Same here, but I'm not sure I'd spend that much on one. £300, maybe, but not nearly £600.
I agree it seems a little pricey.
 11. Old standards like Fender Precisions and Jazzes are readily available second hand and will hold their resale value better than many other basses as there is always demand for them. And if this is your first bass you may well want to change it not too far in the future. As has already been said you need an appropriate rig to go with it. No point spending £1000 on a bass if you're not going to spend £1000 on a rig to power it. So adjust your money accordingly. Good luck.
 12.
I've always thought that someone should go back and re-mix all the great songs from the 80s and bring them to life without all that dreaful over-worked, synthetic production..
I'd certainly like to hear the Robert Palmer 80s stuff remixed. I'm a big fan of his but some of that production - oh dear.
 13.
You can just imagine the conversations can't you
I'd rather not. What price did you pay? And I don't mean for the rig.
 14.
Sorry, its all mine - mwah hah hah
I know, but only because you beat me to it, it could so easily have been the other way around. At least I haven't had to explain it's sudden appearance in the house.
 15.
...best combo
With this reappearing with a bump I momentarily thought it was for sale again and I was going to buy it. Oh well, next time.
 16.
Thanks for the info guys. Never really been in to flats but I might give them a go if thats the consensus. One more question. Were am I going to get a case for it ? Too big for a guitar case and it rattles around in the Stingrays case. I've had a quick trawl through here and on the net but apart from the fender one at 170 dollars had no luck.
If you give the TI flats a go and don't like them you might well find someone here to take them off your hands. I can't help on the case.
 17.
ELO were my first 'favourite band' as a kid, and Out of the Blue was the first album I ever bought. It's full of classic songs!
What made me go back and listen to them was hearing the Beautiful South version of Living Thing.

 19.
Many people didn't like "pop" Motown in the 60's, now you can't say a bad word.
Loved it then, love it now.
 20. More 70s than 80s but I never liked ELO at the time but have now come to think they were a rather great band.
 21.
Do you happen to know whether these are modern recreations of ancient instruments or modernised versions? My feeling would be the latter (unlikely to be both as that would mean the instrument has not changed significantly in over 4000 years which seems very unlikely, and some of the sites you've located appear to view them as contemporary), but I'd be happy to be wrong.
I think I read on one of the sites that the Sihtar originally had three strings but a fourth was added in modern times. Couldn't find it when I checked again.
If there's a downside to this result it's that we're still not really close to knowing why the Greeks used a variation of this name to identify what is clearly a different instrument Check this link - actually I don't entirely agree with this description, in particular as to the number of strings, but it give you a good idea what it would have looked like. Ah well, the search goes on...
I could be talking rubbish here but ... according to Liddell & Scott ... and if I'm understanding correctly ... the Greek verb kitharizein was used to mean 'playing music' on any of several instruments including the phormigx and the lyra as well as the kithara. I'm not clear though what the relationship between these instruments was, e.g. how they differ.
 22.
Wasn't having a go (apologies if it read that way),
No apology necessary.
but there are obvious similarities with the (now out of production) BEX & some of Rob Allen's models.
I agree about the similarities.
Really like the look of this - I'd love a Rob Allen Deep 4 bass, but it's way over my budget - looks like the Epiphone could be a decent substitute.
Certainly more affordable, I'm quite keen to hear one.
If only the fretless came in black...
+1 on that.
 23.
Or you can get a rubber gromet thing to fill the hole, used for blanking holes in precut panels. f its the one knob look, you could put a tone switch on a push-pull, so you can cut the treble if you want. I miss tone knobs on my P though.
Or you could have a single stacked vol/tone pot/knob.
 24. And which makes them £100 more than a Jack Casady - by which I could also be tempted.
